Eververse has definitely gone a bit too far, but if you remove it there will either be some aspect of the game that suffers (free updates like the april update) or something will take it's place ( monthly subscription)
All I'm saying is be careful what you wish for.

The issue is how enverse functions, not that it's here. Same applies to any microT setup, it's all about how aggressive you're using it that becomes the issue. Bungie has clearly gotten more and more aggressive with it, hence the backlash now hitting a new high. Tone it down and people would most likely chill. Subscription wouldn't work with a game lacking in so much content(you better put out an expansion at least every 2 months if you are going subscription). They could also simply stick to DLC/expansion passes like they already do (no reason to have that AND enverse if you ask me). Enverse is only here for the extra money, not to the benefit of the players. The best looking gear is in it, it's RNG based in playtime and real currency.

Well, its hard to disagree with you.

Bull crap, monetize the game some other way. Or you know, actually build a better game and endgame so that people are actually incentivized to buy your DLC’s because they love the game

D1 worked ok without eververse for years! When they brought it in with TTK expansion they said it was to help fund new future 'free' content which is fine! However it's now just a cash grab and actually actively helps to remove game content and place it behind pay walls! It's pure unadulterated greed!
-
For years lol. Ttk dropped after the first year.
-
Lol for a year then!

The game is a generic piece of shit. It could never charge monthly sub. Bungie are lazy devs and never even put out that amount of content. (Let alone anything original and unique) Bungie/Activision will carry on like SWBF2/EA... which is cash grab copy/paste garbage.

Well now ... that's not nice. I do play d1 (the premium Destiny experience)

No one but insane fanboys would pay monthly for a drop in the ocean of this content
-
I used to believe that nonsense too.

This game does not have enough content to support a monthly sub. Not only that, there is no in game economy which is commonly a must for monthly sub games. For me, I think the eververse would be fine if all it contained were actually skins and shaders. But tbh, most weapons and armor is just cosmetic anyway. There might be a few weapons and armor pieces that stand out But most are the same. Making these items available through world or boss drops could be a huge improvement. Ex. The Division is in a good place right now with there lootbox monetization system. All the items in there lootstore are cosmetic. Just coats, boots, hats, sweaters, emotes etc. None these items give bonuses to anything. Completely cosmetic. These items also have a chance to drop in the open world or can be aquired from earning lootstore currency by playing the game. I am in no favor of mtx, but if its absolutely necessary I would prefer it over monthly sub. If this game goes monthly it better bring a massive amount of depth to the game. Sorry for the long response.

Don't be sorry. You bring up a lot of good points.

Most of the “free” updates at this point are just more micro-transaction cash grabs. In D1’s the dawning, we also got SRL, and strike scoring. This dawning we got...snowballs...and micro transactions.... we buy the base game and season pass for over 100$. Bungie would be fine making that amount of money on D2. D2 would die with a subscription service. Nobody is going to pay for the game upfront along with a monthly subscription.

Probably right. Although thats what ESO was doing at first. I guess it didn't work out for them. Although the game being painfully boring didn't help out either.
-
Exactly. Not enough people realise these live events practically have nothing new. Biggest example was the Halloween event. We farmed enemies for candy, to fill up a bag to get a mask, TWO of which we could keep. The rest has to be payed for.
-
I wasn't referring to live events as much as I was free updates. In one of the free updates for d1 we got a free strike and a side mission/ quest I think. My memory sucks so Im really not sure exactly what we got.

LUKE SMITH is the textbook definition of SELL OUT
