The esrb is actually owned and run by many of the publisher company's like EA and Activision
It all started with mortal kombat 1 on snes and Sega

Basically the law makers were gonna stop violence in games so esrb was created to (before law could get involved) rate games with the system we have now
The reason we don't pay with real money and have to buy silver first is so it's classified as simulated gambling, it's effectively a loop hole so they can still market to a larger crowd and not have to only market to adults

I see the good parts of the ESRB when it was first created. Law makers tried to take stuff away from us, and that's not cool. But now they have a loop hole in their own system to exploit it. Pathetic if you ask me. These companies truly are evil, and I hope they get what they deserve.
