Id say 80 percent of new items are in that damn eververse. Greed plain and simple.
Which new items did your refer to? From my experience they are all under Eververse. There's just one milestone which gives us a free Dawning engram, but that engram is associated with Eververse and you cannot get more free Dawning engrams than the daily quota allows us to get. To me, this is not fun nor funny... Probably practical in some sense, but definitely not fun. Eververse is too visible nowadays that it feels like the game is about boosting the gameplay instead of just playing the game because the original pace wasn't enough for some reason and the centralised 20 to 80 ratio of loot distribution is behind a semi-visible pay gap or a paywall.
I can get behind Illuminated engrams though. We receive them from each level up beyond the level cap as long as the flow of experience points won't stop. We still receive them for free unlike Dawning engrams. Once the engram quota is met, no more Dawning engrams. There is no fixed engram quota with Illuminated engrams. What I don't like about Illuminated engrams is that even they are associated with Eververse. Of course it's practical to stuff everything under one "Faction associate", but this begins to feel silly. Items need to be distributed amongst non-profit associates as well based on the theme or story.
It's okay to buy stuff from Eververse, but it needs to be more about RNG than fixed numbers there. Eververse ought to be more like a wishing well. You spend a dime to it and it throws something random back at you. Maybe not what you want, but at least you might get a spark of small interest; Eververse works best when we are bored enough and without directions. Whatever pops from the engram thrills me because I don't know for sure what I actually get and, like I am wired, they give a hint of the direction toward which I turn my boat to. Meanwhile the world needs to become more predictable when it comes to intel and equipment so that I know where to look for things; to where I navigate my boat. If I destroy a Shank, I don't wait for a chest armour to pop from it. It feels odd. I don't wait them to occupy certain spaces either. Predictable, but not obvious. Story must stay as elusive, gloomy and mysterious as it can.

So there are some stuff you can earn but not nearly enough. And as far as the dawning conscerned. You can earn those engrams when you first start and also earn gifts that you can use to get a free dawning engrams. The point I was trying to make is that there is just to much in the eververse. Of were talking just cosmetics and what not then yep that's all in there for sure.

I think it could still be there but it would be nice to earn and grind for cosmetics more too. Like playing for ships and sparrows again. They took the eververse idea too far.
