So we want exotic ships, sparrows, and ghosts to be rewarded at the new drop rates for exotics (waaaaay lower drop rate) and only from specific activities?
And we want to remove a currency and a rotating vendor that compensates for bad RNG and allows you to work towards those engrams and currency by playing any activities you want without spending a dime?
Once again, this “outrage” is calling for a change that would benefit the people who spend the most time playing (the players at the end of the bell curve) to have the rewards alone at the top. Or this is just another internet trend and parrots have found their way over here.
I’m not talking about Raid Specific Shaders, sparrows, or ships either. They’re coming in later updates to keep people playing a year old raid encounter that was never left behind (because that was another popular complaint with D1s Raids). There should be certain Ships, Sparrows, Ghosts behind end game activities, Lost Sectors, Strikes. (Like a Vanguard Ghost that always drops with the perks “Chance for More Tokens from Strikes and 10% more XP from Strikes” or a Lost Sector Fallen Themed Ghost that always drops with EDZ themed perks) But they already said they’re working on ways to make Lost Sectors, Strikes, and Crucible more rewarding. Maybe these things are in the pipeline.
D2’s Eververse system is the system that meets a compromise between their business and ALL players. It still rewards people who play the most with way more engrams than any “tourists” could ever earn with playtime. It allows more casual players to collect bright dust to get their favorite ship, sparrow, or ghost when it ends up in the weekly rotation without spending a dime or time they don’t have. Also, if players want to get the gear but don’t want to spend the time... then let them fund the next raid expansion! Why lock tourists out of the Gift shop?! You know it’s a scam to pay but they don’t!

The fact you think it's okay for someone to potentially spend $600 on microtransactions to aquire all the dawning gear is an absolute joke. It's not an overreaction to state that people like you have attributed to this awful gaming trend. This content isn't for "the grinder" there is legit no reason for levels to exist outside of those engrams. You don't get stats. You unlock a point on an awful "skill tree" that becomes irrelevant the second you hit level 20. It's an absolute joke that this "big event" has all of its item in the eververse. I'm sure you were okay with them gutting your experience points. And trying to charge people for heroic strikes. Something that was available in D1. You're litterally okay spending money for mediocrity. You're as big a problem to this game as the toxic community and the developers making these blatantly obvious money grab events.

If someone is dumb enough to spend $600 on this bullshit, I say let them
-
Where did I say people should spend $600 dollars on “The Dawning” Gear? Or that it’s OK to do that? What? I’m a “collector” but I have enough self control to realize that “Yes! Its unreasonable to get everything. Paying any money for that is absolutely not on my priority list! Obvious ploy to get $$$ from people is obvious...” So just don’t do it. Unless you absolutely need to have that gear. That decision is up to you. The launched Eververse system rewards people with time played as well as money spent. 3 Months of playing D2 and I got every Sparrow and Ship (save 2 exotics) and 2 Full Armor sets without paying anything! Free!

"... then let them fund the next raid expansion!..." you already do that by buying the DLCs and if you or who ever helps fund the next expansion with spending 30$, 40$ or even 100+$ on this compromise you will still have to fund it again by buying the DLCs, or its it to fund a event where its content is locked by a compromise between their business and ALL players that requires that said players keep funding because it was made so it IS impossible to get even half of everything form the even by grinding??...
-
Yea, electricity for render farms and cooling is not cheap. A lot of money. It’s just if Eververse isn’t there... then DLC prices may go up. Or base game prices? But you’re right. No matter what, we all contribute to giving $$$ to the studio and the publisher. What they do with it is up to them. Hopefully, they continue to think the Destiny Franchise is worth a damn.
-
Did you miss the news "Destiny 2' is 2017's best-selling game after just one month.." Anyway, hopefully they wont and will let the franchise rest in peace after this, they butchered it enough as it is, was D2 worth it? was CoC wort it? no and no, they were worst that D1 vanilla and TDB respectively, but thats just a matter of opinion, a wildly shared one but just a opinion none the less, any one is free to disagree with it, DLC or base game prices... did you see a difference back in D1 after Eververse was implemented? None, nope, nda the only thing that changes that is the need for new players but since falling playerbase is internet BS... you get the idea. But don't get me wrong, i am not 100% against Eververse or what it was promised it would be, its how they handle it, just like the majority of things in D2, i could mention all that, but by your original comment you don't seem to be one of those "bungie can do no wrong" players, so i am certain you have seen all the crap bungie has been puling since launch. Honestly, happy holidays guardian

Then why not do both. Have both systems in place. Have Eververse for the casuals, and have all the things locked behind eververse be able to be gotten from activities? One thing most that are on the fence, are forgetting is that these eververse items are not only RNG, but are also seasonal. So if you did not earn that sparrow, ship, emote, or whatever by playing the game hardcore, then you do not get it... Everything from this Dawning event is behind a few week paywall, unless you are fortunate enough to get it from packages, that because of RNG, you are guaranteed to get. You could say they are only cosmetic and who cares... So you have to ask yourself then, why have them in the game in the first place? If they are only cosmetic, and nobody cares for them. Why are people spending $100 of real life money to get the items, if nobody cares about them And before you state that that would be totally unfair and unjust for people to be able to get these things from activities, if other people have had the spend real life money to get them; 2 things... 1. As mentioned, you buy them if you want, if not steer clear. So with this, there should be no concern if they are rewarded as activities, and it keeps them in the game after the season is over, which permits hard core players with piss poor RNG to be able to get something that they technically already paid for bu purchasing the game, and the DLC in the first place. 2. Well, there is no 2. as 1 was so bloody good. Even if you are presented with a bright engram from completing events. It still gives allowance to RNG. Which in turn will encourage people to play the game, as it will give them something to grind for, which does not punish the player by choking XP gains, then double the XP needed to level up in the first place. And hell, as we are in season 2 now, why not put the that were in season 1 available in activity completions? Its not like they are gonna make any money on them through eververse anyway, as they are no longer avail to buy? Makes sense right, do that after each season..IE: in season 3, add the season 2 EV loot for player activities? AS WELL AS OTHER GEAR. This game is.... was based on the loot grind. I loved it in D1 (it had its faults....) when i did a nightfall and prayed to RNGesus for an exotic at the end of it. It encouraged me to create a character of all 3 classes and i run it 3 times religiously every week. I had a reason to do strikes... Now its more a case of 'I do it if i want to' but there is no reason right now for me to want to do it.

It’s still a loot grind. A loot and XP grind. I play the game however I want and I get rewarded. That’s it. I can’t control if other people want to spend $$$ on those items. I’m not about to write to my government officials because loot boxes. But if you go and look at the Faction Vendor’s inventories in the Tower then you’ll see ghosts sparrows and ships all from faction tokens. It’s what you’re talking about. Loot from Both Eververse and In-Game methods. It’s just taking a little time to get there.

Edited by dougisjericho: 12/22/2017 1:24:24 AMSo your main argument is that hardcore players shouldn't have better stuff than you as reward for their time and skill? Good luck in the real world, little entitled snowflake.
-
Where did I say that? What?! If you did not have the option to spend any extra money, the current Eververse system is the most rewarding to the people who play the most! Period. If you put in more time grinding XP then you get more engrams. That’s what I’m arguing for!
-
Hey will you please take bungies dick out of your mouth your speaking on some nonsense.
-
Bungie employee confirmed
-
Maybe they plan on making strikes, lost zones, and crucible more rewarding by placing eververse kiosks in lost zones, strikes, and crucible....
-
😂!! That’s pretty funny
-
Eververse feeds fat-cat lifestyles of dorky Bungie employees that cant have an extravagant life without money. Can you imagine the lifestyles they have because of Eververse greed? They couldnt have that any other way. And they will NOT give up feeding off the playerbase.
Also, if players want to get the gear but don’t want to spend the time... then let them fund the next raid expansion! Why lock tourists out of the Gift shop?! You know it’s a scam to pay but they don’t!
That's the core issue people have with Eververse. None of the profits are being spent to fund new content. When Eververse was released, that was its purpose according to Bungie. It hasn't funded a single DLC drop or special event. We have had to pay for every DLC content drop, and every special event is just a cash grab behind its own paywall not actually funding anything later on down the road.

Who charged you for Age of Triumph? -
You mean the DLC that was completely old content already in the game with a current light level switch flipped to on? They must have had to outsource all that work.
-
If the studio’s project makes the publisher money then the publisher is going to continue to fund the studio to make more of their project. Electricity, Air Conditioning, Hardware, Artisits, Project Leads... if any of my money goes to those expenses, then that’s helped influence the continued operation of the studio that makes the new content down the road, no matter how small that fraction of a penny is. But I shouldn’t be arguing about why or how a business works. They don’t need defending. But calling for the removal of Eververse means that the publisher will want that revenue they’re missing out on to come from other places. Perhaps a subscription fee for ALL players or Higher Base Game prices and DLC prices? No thanks! Let the “tourists” or people who have extra cash pay for continued operations. The current Eververse system is the most beneficial system for the most amount of people on both sides of the counter.

Lmao the overall point your making is correct. But let's not be blind to the fact that it is completely uneccessary for a seasonal event like the dawni g to have all of its gear tied to the eververse. Especially considering they just reolenished the stock with new osiris gear. And the fact it's the only area where you can get ghosts, ships, and sparrows. This didn't bother me at first since nothing really added much gameplay value excluding some of the new ghost perks. But the fact that the eververse receives more updates then any other area of the game is blatantly obvious if what bungies intentions are. It's a cash grab. Which is fine. Except when peoole like you try to defend the practice. It should he widely understood that unless your government gets involved that loot boxes are here to stay. But there a line you cross when it's no longer an additional feature to help fund a game and maybe assist some casuals if they spend money, to a company that is clearly focused on gutting your xp gains. Getting caught. Doubling that xp you need to now earn. And with a holiday event has literally everything tied to the micro transaction system lol the eververse operates completely different then it did in D1. In D1 it was just an option. In D2 it is THE option for anyone trying to aquire new gear. Cosmetic or not. It's the fact it's being force fed to you. It's no longer just an in game option
-
Sure as shit isn't
-
People just betchn' complain like they see everyone else doing, expecting handouts left, right and center. Others can either play the game... or decide not to. Either way, time is spent on D2, in game or on the forums. Lawl.
-
No one is expecting handouts, we are expecting them to follow through on their promises.
