D2 Subclass Personalities

So D2’s lore has some indications of what each class’s general (not stereotypical—although that is also implied) personality is. They don’t, however, provide a continuum of lore from the old subclasses to the newer ones. For example: does blade dancer=arcstrider? Bladedancers were typically more quiet and reserved and had a dark sense of humor. Destiny 2 really dropped the ball on this one. I personally found the personality of each class and their interactions to be quite interesting. Help me find out and provide a comment of your main class and subclass with identifiers of your personality (MBTI, etc.)

  • I love being a titan because i love protecting people and supporting them. Also my occupation is similar to a titan so i knew it was the class for me. And yes i do tend to wonder about what the light is like how the warlocks think and i do live for the 'perfect' moment or the 'breach' in combat. But the titan calls out to me more than anything. I love running head first into combat. The rush is intoxicating and the chaos i stur as a striker is breath taking. I throw my body fist first into hell so my teammates wont have to. Its what strikers do best. I love to protect and support my fellow guardians. Tanking an incredible amount of dmg or sacrificing myself for the protection of my team is the greatest act of brotherhood i could ever do. I love being the last line of defense, a sentinel. Most importantly i love being the symbol of hope as a Sunbreaker. I wield the legendary hammer of sol, a weapon of past, present and future. A symbolic symbol that is used for creation and destruction. More importantly, even when the people forsaken the sunbreakers, they came back in the masses to bring back an invincible power to help keep the city and her people safe. And that act is the greatest act of love, honor, and loyalty a warrior can show for his people, unconditional love. This is why i main a titan.

  • Here’s what I’ve got: *I am following the theory that the new subclasses differ from old classes The subclasses and classes aren’t only defined by their personality’s but rather their primitive and bare connection to the Light. From this, I have found all 9 differed connections: 1.) Voidwalker- typically daring, dark, quiet, bold, sacrificial, ambitious; they use the light as a valley of exploration, as a way of exploring more though the trek may be dangerous. 2.) Stormcaller- meditative, reminiscent, juxtaposed, powerful, calm, mercurial yet stable; they use the light as a source of pure power using their bodies as conductors whilst basking in its arcing glory. 3.) Dawnblade- bright, free, bold, colorful, loyal, dominant, elevated; they use the light as a tool for full exploration in both vertical bounds and of those of the minds. They use the light as a way of neigh apotheosis. 4.) Gunslinger- egotistical, comedic, risky, unpredictable, daring, independent, confrontational; they use the light as a way of illustrating their inner flame—they use the light as a way of blowing through their opposition and enable them for their next challenge. 5.) Nightstalker- lone, analytical, vengeful, aware, perceptive; they use the light to seek the capture of their opposition—they use the light in order to hinder and level out all those stands against them. 6.) Arcstrider- calm, clever, witty, flexible, disciplined, intuitive; they use the light in order to weapon use themselves—they make themselves the reflection of the light but in a surfing current of pain. 7.) Striker- aggressive, caring, sympathetic, pragmatic, sacrificing; they use the light as an attack against the darkness—like arcstriders (and similar to sentinels), they use the light to empower themselves and make a driving force and a barrage against foes. 8.) Sunbreaker- rebellious, daring, stoic, durable, innovative, intimidating, righteous; they use the light to repair and dominate and save what others have failed to do—they wield the [heavily symbolic] Hammer of Sol in a way that terrifies opposition and yet still in a way that isn’t holistically offensive. 9.) Sentinel- protective, loyal, respectful, leader, sympathetic, emotional, supportive; they use the light in two ways- as both an offense and defense against the darkness, and as a full protection against any danger. They use the light as a way of safeguarding all that is fair and light-worthy (they are the defensive counterpart to strikers) Tell me what you think and we can add to it. Note that in Destiny [1] it was found that warlocks used the light to envelope themselves/conduct it, hunters constructed weapons of it, and titans surrounded themselves with it. Their was a slight change in that theory, but that’s on a whole other topic.

    • I saw Bladedancers as being a little bit crazy (wrote a poem called "When Baldedancers Lose It"... always hacking at stuff with knives. Arcstriders are very different; IMO. Bladedancers are solitary, quiet, and very very dangerous. Arcstriders are flashier and more showoffish. Gunslingers are wanderers... quiet, moody, detached. The song "Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" could apply to them. Strikers are more the "lovable galumph" type, devoid of subtlety, but the kind of guy you'd like to have as a friend. The type of guy you'd get together with after work and eat meatloaf and potatoes and drink beer with while watching "Monday Night Crucible" on the telly. Defenders are kind of like that as well, but they're also the protective type. If you told your troubles to a Striker, he'd thump your back and tell you to cheer up. A Defender would help you out, no matter what. Kind of like Horton the elephant, "a Defender's faithful, 100 percent!" Sentinels are somewhat similar. Sunbreakers are still Titans, but more aggressive, more dangerous. Where Bladedancers like to slice flesh, Sunbreakers like to crunch skulls. You don't want to anger a Sunbreaker! Voidwalkers are scholars who have extensively studied the darkness, and the ferocious power teeming within it. It's said of Form VII lightsaber combat that you have to "pass through the penumbra of the Dark Side" to utilize it. Being a Voidwalker is the same... to truly master it, you have to love it a little... but not too much. Otherwise, you might find yourself fighting shoulder to shoulder alongside Crota and Omnigul. Sunsingers are warriors of the light, but it's affected them mentally. They have peered farther into the abyss than any other, necessary to gain the ability to self-revive from death. They and Voidwalkers are surprisingly similar in nature, they're just obsessed with opposite sides of the same coin. Dawnblades are also warriors of the light, but have not delved into the deepest, scariest aspects of it. They know only enough of the darkness to pass fiery judgment on it. Like Sunbreakers, a Dawnblade is an implement of wrath. And where Voidwalkers obsess over the night and Dawnblade/Sunsingers embrace the day, Stormcallers are more neutral. They seek maximum power and total understanding, which makes them so frighteningly formidable in battle.

      • Having championed the Voidwalker since the early years of Destiny I get the impression that they are stoic individuals, centering themselves to better control the deadly energies of the Void. With an ability tree like Attunement of Chaos a Warlock would need to be calm, focused and disciplined with all those explosions happening all around them. So too with Attunement of Hunger; constantly maintaining an open connection with the Void to draw on your enemy's life force would require willpower.

Nightstalkers are the things of nightmares along side voidwalkers. Kinda like Peter pan's shadow's psychopathic cousins.
