In this state i think they are a little underwhelming, still cool as a starting point though, would be nice it expanded upon, like getting 1000 kills or whatever with it unlocks another mastwrworks perk slot and another 5000 kills unlocks another slot, that would really start to set weapons apart from one another and you essentially "work" on your favourite weapon and the combinations of stat would have more meaningful changes, seeing a rank on your gun and a reward for investing would go down really well with the community i think! Because realistically random rolls while good, arent going to turn you from a scrub to a crucible god, it was just something to chase.
Then you could look at masterworks armour sets that operate in the same way and have increased benefits. if you say had a full set of masterworks armour. , you migh get +5% perk effevtiveness per level. I think these would provide some good grinding and investment into the game!

Whether it's this idea or what we had before, it's what everybody has been asking for - something to work towards. As long as the reward feels useful, it doesn't HAVE to be the old style of weapons... we just want some sort of experience bar on our stuff that we can work on and gain new stuff via. Without that, without the ability to level up gear (or even just weapons), this game will NEVER WORK. Regardless of whether it's this idea or the old style of unlocking perks, leveled gear is KEY to this genre of game! Every time you swap gear you have to put more time in, meaning picking gear MATTERS and represents an actual time investment. There's a REASON to go do the same content for the 50th time, rather than just hoping for an exotic engram. I don't know why Bungie doesn't get it, but without a system like this the game will never feel as worthwhile. This is a game that is meant to motivate you to run the same content multiple times. Regular genres do not do this, because it would be pointless and nobody would play; the difference is that the reward and progression structure makes it worthwhile. Bungie has decided to go with the "run the same content over and over" style of game, but then forgot to add in meaningful rewards and progression! How the hell are they CONFUSED about people getting sick of the game when they're literally missing half of the formula?!

I would love that! Adding additional slots and and stat bonuses would be awesome! I’d love to see weapons that offer strengths against specific enemies and visual change over time. For example, if you kill 1000 hive with a weapon the AI inside starts to develops a taste for hive and grows stronger when hive are nearby.

Haha thanks! Id say if me (just a regular dude) has thought of it, im sure these kind of ideas in some form are on a bungie whiteboard somehwere, as with most of the stuff Bungie does, there is a lot of potential here, lets hope this is just a starting point!!!
