So let me get this straight... You have a game which's main strengths is weapon diversity and strategic team-based PVP, and you'd rather have a game with a single viable weapon and "i saw you first so i win" type gameplay ? And how does a weapon that deals continuous AoE damage that bypasses barriers and that can't headshot properly mean skill ? IT'S BUGGED. it's damage output is unreliable. You can win 1v2s thanks to dicerolls, i'd hardly call this skill ! If you want to "shred" and prove your individual skill, then why not play Titanfall, unreal or the likes ? THOSE games have a much higher individual skill-ceiling and are designed from the ground up to test you with the low TTK you want and hard-to-master movement systems to boot. Leave D2 alone. It was fine the way it was, back when defending heavy ammo actually meant something because people didn't walk around with portable death-stars with as many ammo as you can carry straight out of spawn. Halo had a relatively slow TTK, and i didn't see anyone complaining. That's the PVP i want. That's the PVP the gaming industry is missing. What you're describing is 90% of the other modern shooters out there, which do a better job at it than Destiny ever will. We don't need more of them.

  • No. What he, and the rest of us are saying, is that 'Hey, a new element has been added to the game that no one expected, and having to play PVP in a new way is super exciting!' Will PL get old? Sure. So the answer isn't to just nerf, and let it go back to group-killing everyone with MIDA. The answer is to keep introducing interesting weapons or dynamics that shake the foundation of what we're all so trained to do now. Destiny PVP, that everyone is complaining about, has become muscle memory boring for most folks. PL shook up your muscle memory, and makes it exciting. Eventually, that'll wear off as people get accustomed to it, but for this moment? It's a blast.

  • No one is saying that something like the TTK from the Lens wouldnt be a fun event, for a weekend or so. But people like the OP want the TTK to be always like that. And thats what sucks.

  • Yes and no. You're right about shaking things up, but the OP never said anything about the game being stale or that PL shook things up. He just says he'd like a lower Time To Kill in general, which PL's ridiculous DPS brings to D2. The following debate was about D2 being fit for a lower TTK (closer to Titanfall, CoD, etc...) or stay as it is (closer to Halo). I don't hink anyone would disagree with you when you say shaking things up is healthy for the game :)

Please show me where in my post did I say that Prometheus should never be nerfed and everyone should only use it from now on. When talking about my experience with the Prometheus, I am referring to the PVP environment where the TTK is higher- as everyone is using that gun, meaning you will kill and die to your opponents quickly. I did not say 'keep Prometheus the same' I said that ALL guns should get their damages/ firerates buffed, lowering the TTK for ALL guns across the board. You will still have your weapon variety as all weapons would maintain their hierarchy, as the damage buff would be equally distributed amongst all guns. Meaning all guns would EQUALLY kill faster than before. I never said Destiny should be EXACTLY the same as COD, I just said the TTK should be lower. For reference, average TTK of D2 weapons ranges from 1.2-1.4 seconds. - In comparison, average TTK of weapons in COD games is 0.14-0.25 seconds. Destinys TTK is over 5 times higher, which is significant as -blam!-. The Prometheus TTK is 0.5, so that's still actually almost twice as slow as CODs. Realistically I would like that average TTK lowered to around 0.6-0.8. This would mean D2 would still be a slower TTK game, just not to the ridiculous amount it current is at Also I would much rather play titanfall 2, but I already bought D2 under the assumption that PVP would be similar to D1 (which it isn't at all). And I don't plan to buy another game

  • Please show me where in my post did I even imply that you said Prometheus Lens should never be nerfed and everyone should only use it from now on. While you're at it, show me where in my post did i ever mention CoD. The first part of my post was pointing out how PL didn't raise the skill cieling at all, but the second part was me defending longer TTKs in general (again, no relation to CoD). Don't get me wrong, short TTKs have their place in games made for them. Destiny 2's just not one of them. Even Destiny 1 was flawed as a low TTK game. Abilities, supers and special weapons reduced the skill-cieling because player characters are simply too slow to reliably dodge any of those (without Nightstalker blink), meaning even if you saw the enemy coming they still had a drastic advantage over you regardless of skill if they had their cooldowns or special ammo and you didn't. I think D2 fits more in a Halo-style TTK. Characters are slow and their vertical mobility is very predictable, meaning headshots are too easy to hit for anything else than snipers to deserve a one-shot without power ammo (i don't think snipers should be power weapons, but that's another debate). This changes with the ridiculous movement options other games offer to the player. Titanfall 2's bigger maps means enemies will be farther from you and its movement system means they'll be moving so much faster and in a less predictable manner. That allows weapons to be so much deadlier because they need much more skill to be as effective. Get this : there is a primary weapon in TF2 that's a one-hit kill sniper. Shoot someone in the toe and they die instantly, but it's so hard to use its considered as one of the weakest weapons in the game. Now imagine if hand cannons did one-shot on headshots in D2. Or if SMGs killed in 4 bullets at close range. Heavy ammo would barely be relevant, meaning people would just run around one-hitting each other without paying attention to objectives or teammates. Supers and abilities would also be pointless because they would get instantly shut down by regular guns during their cast-times. Seriously, if you want low TTK FPSes, get Titanfall 2 or Unreal Tournament. If you don't like fancy movement systems, go for CS:GO instead, but please leave D2 alone. It's the best low TTK FPS since Halo. The only others that i know of are Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch, which can hardly fit the same category.
