So my cat has been making a kind of groaning noise since this morning and it's worrying me. He doesn't appear to be in pain, but he's making a raspy kind of sound like he's having some trouble breathing. I tried to look up the problem online but didn't find much. He's currently resting on my bed.
The sound almost sounds like purring except more raspy and is like he's breathing. I don't think it's anything life threatening, but I was wondering if any of you pet owners had some kind of idea.
[Update]: So my cat hasn't been doing so well. He's gotten more raspy and he's been doing this thing where he hunters down stretches out his neck, sticks out his tongue and gags. I looked this up and it's either a sign of asthma or a hairball. I'm assuming the former because he probably would've coughed up a hairball by now.
We plan on taking him into the vet soon when we can afford it. I'm thinking of using all of my Christmas money to pay for him because I don't want to lose him. We've only had him for a year but he's the best cat.
