Increased minimum light level cap on Nightfall+Raid? You're locking people out of /previously available/ content for not having the DLC.

As someone who bought the season pass, this doesn't affect me, but I think it's reprehensible for Bungie to be raising the minimum light level cap for entry into the activities like the nightfall and the raid. In particular the prestige nightfall and prestige raids where the light level is 330. This means that people who own only the base game, who were able to do these activities last week, but who did not buy the DLC, are now locked out of these activities. That means that Bungie actually took away content from people who did not buy the DLC. I'm not an expert, but I think this someone should examine this as grounds for legal action.

  • Literally play any MMO, it’s the same there. Level caps continue to grow, get over yourself.

    • They've done this literally every single dlc as a way to get people to buy them

      • Wouldn’t be able to take legal action, people accepted the terms of service, in particular the part “bungie reserves the right to change or remove content”. It’s a dlc based game, if people want to progress then they have to buy the dlc.

      • Pretty dumb imo. Wanted to do the raid this weekend with my friends and one of them was 279 who previously played the raid with us before the patch flawlessly, but now has to wait, and we had to put off our raid. Restrictions are garbage.

      • Just ask bungie to make 3 - 5 difficulties of every piece of the game so everyone is happy... Buy the DLC to get the most out of the end game content. Not very hard.

      • Wait until the 12th when the weekly reset rolls around. This EXACT thing happened with one of the D1 DLC's and everyone exploded in anger and then a week later felt stupid when the activities reset, bringing old strikes back into the weekly mix, allowing people to finish the game (aka: get a fake/digital trophy). Patience, people.

      • So we should all just be stuck on same light level through all dlc, everyone should know this was going to happen and stop whining. Its a dlc based game that you progress per dlc its expected. Most games do this in some way or another. If they did it like wow you would hut an invisable barrier everytime you got near dlc areas

      • for anyone thats been playing since D1 this is nothing new. it was done with every "expansion" and no legal action was ever taken. why? because bungie has covered their assets quite well. i remember reading through the ToS and EULA and posting the main thing regarding this every player has to agree to before playing. it basically says you acknowledge that Bungie (and Activision) has the right to add, remove, and withhold any content at any point for any reason or for no reason. really they could just randomly take all servers down indefinately and no one could do anything about it

      • So all of us that have paid for the expansions should have that content rendered "irrelevant"?... You realize it would work the same way for those that DID pay for all the content if they didn't raise the power cap? If Leviathan was still 270 and only dropped gear to 300, why would anyone with the expansion still play it?...it's not dropping 330 loot so the activity becomes pointless... This was the exact problem they had in D1 and they got it right this time. If you enjoy the game and want to continue grinding the "endgame" content then pay for the expansion that gets you to the ENDGAME.

      • Actually, there probably is grounds for legal action. Just because they got away with thievery before doesn't justify a thing. And if you play ANY mmo, you would understand this is not how expansions work. For instance, ff14. There are 2 or 3 expansions, but are only actually accessible once you've completed the base game and the expansions in order. In other words the base game never had content that was once available, taken away because the expansion was released.

        • Nah no legal action can be taken. Read the TOS. Somewhere along the lines of subject to change. I am not saying it is right. Its not in my opinion. It’s just not subject to litigation.

            • They probably figure....you like the game, because obviously you’re playing it still, so why in the hell wouldn’t you want to buy the dlc? No point in playing a game with less content, so just get the dlc and enjoy the game you’re already playing, but with even more enjoyment...

It's always been like this, in Destiny 1 most activities light levels were raised with each expansion and update

Why does everyone act like this is not the normal way expansions work? This place makes me want to kick puppies. Edit; So I'm wrong, you guys are right, everyone should be able to play all the content whether they choose to move forward with the game, or stay behind in vanilla. The solution to this is to offer various levels of the Raid based on power level, and not just up the required level with every expansion. I'm just a filthy casual solo blueberry scrub, and sometimes I don't think before I type. I apologize, this game sucks.

                    • You click that little “agree” button when you played the game, yesss? Do you not read those things or do you just click yes to anything? Fine print, it’s no one’s fault if you don’t read before you agree. But some folks have “bragged” they got s refund on here but I believe some vendors have closed that option due to reaching out to Bungie and seeing as how Bungie has already addressed that they will work on this, I don’t know if that window of refunds is still available. Though I imagine the 330 requirement will go not away. You’re either going in 25 levels below the required or they’ll make a version for the base folks who can’t or won’t buy the dlc.
