I haven't done so but... worth asking you know.

ok main thing is yes in order to do any real modding in halo 3 you have to have a jtagged xbox to run unsigned code (example aim-bot, flaming recon, and super-jump) you can run modified maps from a program not giving away name bungie dosent mind modded maps played for fun and they don't care to much about single player campaign either but as soon as you go into matchmaking you may last a few games but you will get banned but you can also unban it its just a lot of work not going into detail some games encourage modding ( fallout3,borderlands,oblivion) amongst others it gives the game new ideas and different play value for fun but they don't want you using it to cheat yourself to a higher rank are rating but anyway if your modding for fun go ahead its a interesting hobbie but don't use it to cheat and atleast beat the game with no mods before you mod
-
its not fair for us because bungie users and microsoft users can mod so what about us
-
Honestly only Cheesy Bacon got it right. Bungie actually encourages modding when its done in custom games or campaign only. Thats the reason they created Halo: Custom Edition. Take them into matchmaking or in your fileshare and you will be banned. Modding helps games evolve and make the experience a little more enjoyable.
-
Sorry But Nearly All Of You Are Wrong! Modding wont get you banned from bungie if you do custom games or campaign with friends, but over matchmaking and putting modded maps into your file share, THEN you will get banned, but microsoft may ban you for modding on an xbox 360 (very rare as you never get caught) but if you do they lock up your whole xbox!
Posted by: Steeel Woool I'm pretty sure he can, as long as he doesn't touch Matchmaking. Bungie lets you play on modded maps connected to XBL, I'm sure they'd be fine doing it connected to the internet as long as you're not influencing other players.
This, I've played on modded maps quite a few times over XBL and I've never been banned at all...

Whoo lets go PLASMA GRENADE SMGS! YOUTUBE TUTORIALS FOR THE WIN!
-
Most likely, but bungie usually only bans the people who commit the ultimate crime of all GRIFFBALL/ACHIEVEMENT BOOSTING. [Edited on 08.30.2010 7:23 PM PDT]

heres my opinion on modding and i dont mod, my opinion also probably means jack -blam!- to you unless you agree. but i think as long as its for fun why not? i mean i dont mod but if i did i would definantly mod odst sniper into halo 3 campaign with rockets with explosive damage from reach. just saying i think it could bring a new level of fun to campaign. flying grunts with elite heads ftl (for the lulz).

Well the best way to put it is this. If you know what happens to players who mod online in matchmaking, modding online for campaign works the same way. So I guess you would have to say yes, modding is imminent

Modding/hacking of any sort will get you banned. Even talking about it on these forums is a bannable offense.

I honestly haven't modded anything before. I was just wondering if it was possible to do it, due to a number of youtube videos found online.
