The REAL biggest flaw of Destiny 2

It doesn't matter how much you adjust the rewards systems, making them more generous or less grindy, because in the end the weapons of Destiny 2 just suck when compared to Destiny 1. Do you know why my clan and I did VoG and Crota every week on all three characters (aside from it was fun playing with friends)? It was because the weapons were worth the grind. We wanted: Fatebringer Vision of Confluence Praedyth's Revenge Black Hammer Gjallarhorn Hawkmoon Last Word Vex Mythoclast Truth And any number of other amazing and powerful guns. It doesn't matter how much you adjust the rewards to make the experience more rewarding, when ultimately the weapons are mediocre. Solution: make some powerful guns people actually want to grind for and get excited about getting. Remember the videos of people freaking out when getting their Hawkmoon or Gjallarhorn? That's what made the grind worth it.

  • Yes very true. The content was better also. Any d1 raid is better (in my opinion) than leviathan.

  • You’re exactly correct. If bungie would just change the weapons back to the way they were, people would start playing again ( or at least it would be a good start). I loved those hand cannons that hit for 81 crit, and Parthian shot that would do 36 crit per bullet and so on. Powerful weapons was what kept D1 running for so long. The other thing that they should change back is melee damage and grenade dmg. Melees and nades are so week right now that they are almost useless. We may as well be having a snowball fight with nades and wearing fluffy boxing gloves for the melee. I’m a mostly close range combat player and it seems like that is non existent now.

    • One of the biggest flaws imo, is the lack of matchmaking in Nightfalls and Raids...

My intention with this post is not to defend bungie and activision. Unless new perks are created and not reworded, i dont see any gun living up to year one raids and god roll guns. Our current weapons are fine based off the current reworded lack of new perks in D2. I enjoyed fatebringer, i used it from the moment i got til the moment i had to find a new gun after TTK launched and i was shocked that they made it an exotic in D2 and disapointed, ace of spades / conspirator( more range less impact >< ). Those are two just to come to mind off the top of my head. I get it, alot of people like certian perks. Glass half full Explosive rounds Firefly Auto fire on scouts Forget the name of this perk but adds rounds to your clip after getting x number of precision shots And i like these perks as well but you added to many guns with the same perks and they dont feel special. We need new perks bungie and not reworded perks.

    • I agree a lot with this post. The D1 weapons where far superior to D2 weapons.

      • In D2 I never use an exotic in the crucible. NEVER. That alone should be evidence as to how underwhelming exotic weapons are. To be fair, sometimes I use MIDA if I get a map where I'll be stomped if I don't, but MIDA was always one of the least exciting exotics. In D1 I was always using Regime, Bad Juju, Jade Rabbit, Plan C, Trespasser, Thunderlord, Gjallarhorn, and Truth. In PvE I lamented only being able to equip one. Now, I hardly care. Sure, Coldheart and Merciless are essential if you're a max dps whore but those guns aren't exciting to use. Risk Runner and Sunshot are decent but I'm not a HC or SMG type guy. At least the Tractor Cannon gets Michael Bay points. It's not good, but if you can disconnect the part of your brain that cares about quality, it can be stupid fun. Same kind of goes for the Wardcliff Coil. But it should say something when I look at my all legendary loadout and say, "Meh? Good enough," or worse yet, prefer it. Everything is so damn homogenized.

      • Yeah but the way they hand gear out like Halloween candy there still wouldn't be a grind.

      • PVE endgame hasn't been worth it since Y1 man. Kings Fall, WotM - the BEST of the gear they had to offer was only on par with everything else out there. The lack of TRULY DIFFERENCE-MAKING gear for endgame rewards is what drove me from the game in Y2.

      • Well your experience was exactly what they wanted to get rid of Much of the best gear was locked behind end game content This led to an in balance to the game Like must have xxx for raid Especially in Pvp So they moved the weapons into the base game Then nerfed them so no more must have xxx weapon for raid It worked ! More casuals played more of the gamen

        • I agree, but with their PvP balance first policy I don't think we'll see the purposely more powerful end game weapons we had in year 1 come back in D2.

          • NEW. New, enemies, planets content! So many exotics in d2 were in d1. Guns AND armor. It's just pathetic. Tomorrow's "expansion" is just more vex!

          • Don’t forget... with the new loadout, you can’t use any of the weapons, anyway.

Icebreaker but only through xur & not on some stupid quest or nightfall like the last time when bungie pull a shit stunt on veteran players like myself. Edit. Keep in mind that this weapon should be banned from all PVP events so it doesn’t causes the same problems like it did last time

Black hammer wasnt a vog weapon but i get the sentiment. See i actually am not a fan of raids. They took too much time to find a group in d1 and in this game though the clan stuff and guided games were supposed to help, it is somehow still takes too long to find a group. I dont want to take hours to get a group together only to do a raid that takes half the time. Thats why i wanted them to add a mode that was hard but not require 6 people, that offered raidlike rewards. PoE was good for that. Still though in d2. Not only am i discouraged from doing the raid because i just dont find them fun or matchmaking for them fun, but i also dont think its worth it for any of the weapons save maybe the rocket launcher and my curtain call or morrigan does a good enough job that i dont really need it. In d1 i raided enough to atleast get me a black hammer and a word of crota. I never got the fatebringer i wanted but i did get the sniper and lmg and they were great.
