Vex exoskeletons

So we know that the Vex are actually the white goop inside the robots. I would like to know how exactly soup made robots

  • There are three theories (none are proven) 1. The Vex Mind Fluid naturally evolved into the radiolaria it is now and some other species found it then built bodies for them. The Vex were then able to build more bodies and spread as they pleased. (This is probably the most likely but also the least known theory in the forums) 2. The Vex Mind Fluid naturally evolved into the radiolaria it is now and is somehow able to solidify its silicon components into a dense solid body (this theory is supported by the fact that Asher Mir’s Vex arm can somehow generate radiolaria, but also isn’t a terribly likely theory since their bodies seem to be metal. Keep in mind that anything in compacted into a dense form can be strong even if it’s normally weak: take charcoal and diamonds for example, both are made of pure carbon) 3. Some hyper intelligent species built mechanical bodies for themselves and found a way to turn themselves into the radiolaria and put themselves in the chassis. Probably a shot at immortality, just like with Exos (this is the least likely theory) Here’s a theory that is definitely wrong: the Traveler made the Vex. We know it’s wrong because the Vex have no understanding of the Light, they are violent, they decided to follow the ways of Darkness without once considering the ways of the Light, their goal is to put themselves on top of everything else in all timelines, and there are many timelines where the Vex win and kill off the Light. Also, in the Books of Sorrow there are instances where species the Vex know of that follow the Light are attacked and the Vex don’t support them in any way. Just because the Traveler has a machine body and the Vex have machine bodies doesn’t mean they are related (yes, people have actually made that argument). Get me some real evidence that stands above all the things proving this theory wrong and maybe I’ll consider the theory as possible lol

The goop is actually a dense concentration of radiolara (check spelling), which is a form of microorganism. These organisms are known for their silicon (glass) outer shells. When the vex need a new unit, they send a signal to certain cells in order to begin the process of forming a vex unit. The organisms begin producing specialized cells which will quickly form a shell and die, leaving just the shell. These cells form a multicellular colony, with living cells acting as the brain (mind fluid) and dead cells acting as the exoskeleton. Depending on the signal received, the colony will form different shapes and take on different roles in the overall vex collective.

Since radiolaria is silicon based, could the bodies be solidified silicon shells, made of dead radiolaria and powered by living radiolaria?

            • My guess is someone or something made them. Maybe they were originally made to colonize and terraform worlds but they got upidy and did their own thing.

It's really simple, think of it this way, early vex were probably bipedal and did the same things we do today as humans like speak, eat, reproduce, have culture. As time goes on, they find more and more about space and things like what their purpose really is. They figure the only real purpose is to survive, and well they start from there. forced evolution turning them self's into technology, they loose their culture, they gain the ability to rip into what the hive call the "ascendant realm" they study this rip and use it to manipulate time for them self's So when ever you kill a vex goblin know that you've probably killed that same goblin before it was just brought back into our present day from one of the vex's past realities Hopefully this helped you understand the vex more. Oh yea and the todays vex are hive-minded, the goop is controlled my more powerful, calculative vex minds. That's why we like to kill the big bois.. they go and all the small lads go with.

                  • Space magic. To be honest, I don't think anyone knows. But, it seems like they probably arranged into colonies and became self-conscious, then built frames to move around in... somehow. I don't think anyone actually knows that.
