Does anyone remember if the beta had weapons on a dynamic or static weapon timer? Also, have their been any announced changes?
To elaborate a little bit, in default settings in Halo 3, a weapon's respawn timer began after they were picked up, and the user stood still for 2-4 seconds/died. For those familiar with the term, they were constantly "dirtied". When two high-caliber teams faced off, the games go to whomever had the best early rush, so only their team would know when to push for power weapons the entire game.
MLG settings introduced drop spawns, which simulates the weapons being picked up and then frozen for the 2-4 seconds. This allowed for weapon spawn times to be consistent, so both teams would have an equal chance at them throughout the match. (Unless they were dirtied, which means they were grabbed mid-fall).
In this scenario, Bungie should learn from the guys over at MLG, and weapons should be placed on a static timer, instead of the dynamic timer that made Halo 3 unbalanced at higher levels. The static timer actually allows for teams to make intelligent pushes after losing the opening rush, instead of random ones.
Thanks for your time, and please discuss.
Posted by: I am blankty I don't see the benefits of the current system.
I think Bungie intended to make it too complicated for anyone to follow, but that didn't happen in the least bit. If anyone can think of a benefit of having a dynamic weapon spawn timer, please enlighten me.

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed to be Halo 3's system, which sucks. Everybody on the map should have a chance at knowing when the power weapons spawn, not just the person who picked them up first.

If you don't agree with this, you're an ignorant fanboy blinded by your hate of MLG.

I don't see the benefits of the current system. I believe it was the same as the Halo 3 system in the Beta although I am not sure. It would be great if they became static.
Posted by: Uncle Kulikov I agree. This kind of reliability is something I like. Bungie should consider making vehicles drop spawn as well.
The point I'm trying to get across is that weapons/vehicles/etc. shouldn't have to be drop spawned in order to be on the static weapon timer, the default setting (simply placing a weapon in forge, etc.) should be a static timer.

100% agreed.
