D1 & D2 Crucible #s combined are lower than D1 in June

Destiny 1 had 457,000 Crucible players on June 8 of this year. Friday's combined Crucible numbers for D1 and D2 were 415,000. I've never seen a sequel not just fail but destroy the original games community as well. Destiny 1 had a more active PvP community after 3 years than the entire franchise after Luke Smith released his garbage sequel. The DLC gives us a new PvP map. cool

  • They refuse to show separate numbers between D1 and D2, Bungie knows the player counts but it's an embarrassment. D1 pVp offers so much more then D2 - they failed.

    • D2 sold more copies. That's the only number companies care about. That's why there was more effort put in to the D2 trailers than the actual game.

    • I for one never play crucible. I have zero interest in playing PvP in D2. If I want to play a PvP shooter I play one made for that purpose. IE Battlefield/Battlefront style titles. Desitny is an RPG loot game. Having PvP in it is frankly a waste of time and degrades the entire title. Why? Because it has to implement systems and mechanics that are "balanced" (or at least attempt to) for PvP combat, which in turn has a knock on effect of reducing content for PvE. It also causes issues with PvE content, visa vi skills and powers being "lackluster" as it would be "too powerful" in PvP combat. Now I have nothing against PvP or people who like it. But this trend of trying to do both PVE and PVP in the same title is killing quality content across the industry. And when games don't feature PvP, there are ALWAYS people who claim its great and demand it. When in truth, if it was added to said title, it would have less players than other content making it wasted resources spent on a minority of players.

              • Well, from what I could see, during last week's Iron Banner, there were around 700-900K PvP players per day, while we're back to 400-500k-ish. A lot of these IB players probably were on PC: It was our first and only Season 1 IB, and yes, PvP was alive and well last week on PC (and probably PC only). Now, it's back to a lot of less than ideal matchmaking and latency issues.

                • Destiny 1 was crack. You know that mind control game in that Star Trek TNG episode? D1 made it look like Pac Man. Destiny 2 was methadone. Or Data's palm beacon. If you ever saw that "Destiny Support Group" video, D2 was the cure for what ailed them. Except the woman... she was just... ew. She WHAT the game?!

                  • I really hope bungie takes this as a hard lesson learned. They pushed extra hard for PvP balance and in the end they still ended up with a meta, and with even few people playing to boot. The majority of people don't play Destiny PvP because it's well balanced.

                      • I remember hearing somewhere that Luke Smith and the Live Team were actually against the new weapon load out system but were overruled by others. I think it was a podcast.

                          That's because D2 PvP is utter and complete GARBAGE!!! I would love to see this PvP die a horrific fiery death. I still go into D1 PvP on occasion. I love the Mayhem modes.
