• yes and no, they need to keep it enjoyable for the people that play alone and not force those individuals it go find randoms to try to get along with in order to progress let alone if say your a lone player and enjoy crucible, playing against individuals with weapons or armor with amazing perks that you cant get makes it not fun.

    • Best? No. Unique? Yes. Some people do not raid, some hate pvp, some simply run pub events, some people just hate people...Alienating a group of people is the last thing this game needs. Now I believe there should be unique gear such as strike specific loot, raid specific loot, lost sector loot.. perhaps a scout that only drops from a specific lost sector or a sidearm that is specifically from an adventure. All with their own unique perks and cosmetics...but to say you have to do X to get a chance at Y tier gear is what's wrong with this game to begin with and has brought us D2: The Token King and the great slot machine..This game promotes a "do what you want" attitude from a marketing stance but delivers a very "as long as it's exactly our way" result. (As seen in the lack of customization of characters, classes, weapons, armor, and even playlist or strike selection. So no. There isn't a single path to get to max power. That takes all the fun out. And everyone looks the same and stands in line to do the exact same thing to get the exact same gear to play the exact same way...

      • All content should deploy rare specific loot. Example? D1 had Strike/raid/and trials gear. Imho, i think d2 should have gone further into that. Patrol specific loot: where every planet and every sector has loot that benefits you using it either on that planet or against that sectors enemies. Crucible Specific loot: a loot table that not only rewards you for how many kills with whatever types of weapons you kill with, but also rewards you for proficiency and assistance in team play and lonewolf capabilities in rumbles. Elemental primaries should never had been made exotic or taken away. If you want people to use other things, make other things better. Adding an intrinsic perk to kinetic primaries that simply said, "ignores a.i. shields" or something to that end would have solved all the problems the idiot Luke Smith had with claimed lack of variety... Why can't all events have an endgame so that everyone has a chance at atleast some endgame loot? Why can't kinetic have intrinsic strength against a.i. shields to allow more elemental primaries and return to the superior d1 weapons system? (More damage=superior, is my standard.)

Yes. High risk activities should = high reward loot. Just like in D1. You want the Timepiece PR that melts at distance? Then you needed to run the VoG Raid on hard mode. You want TTK weapons that bump you to the next lvl cap? Then you needed to run Oryx Raid on hard mode. Now we have "If you want raid gear with a glossy purple shine, you need to run Leviathan on Prestige mode", and I am sorry, but that is just boring...

        • absolutely all top-tier gear - with the higher power levels should come from true endgame activities. Not doing a strike, or a public event. If people want to play a causal game then what they heck should they care if they ever get to the cap.

        • No.. To do that again they have to add optional matchmaking. This was a huge problem in vanilla D1.. forever 29 was brutal. It should be unique yes but not the end all be all.

Anyone agreeing that it shouldn't be for the Nightfall, Trials, and Raid are the ones that just wanted this game to be a hand me out game. Lazy gamers that didn't want to put any effort into play a game. Funny thing about that, that is exactly what this entire game is now. A 5 year old's game... If I wanted to play Mickey mouse Bungie I'd buy the real game.

            • See that was the problem in d1 Best gear hidden behind end game content When mccasual went into Pvp he got crushed by vog weapons and crota weapons ttk heavy machine gun?? Now Tom had it right an item that was raid specific and pretty useless everywhere else Plus you had to grind the raids to get the guns a buddy of mine never got fatebringer They were successful in bringing in the casual but that showed they had limited dev $$$ and they left out the challenge for the "hobbyist" My guess is not until June will we see any real difference

            • Yes, it was like that in destiny 1. I don’t see why it cant be that way in destiny 2. Now we have guided games so there is absolutely no excuse to say people cant raid or do trials. End game content needs maybe another mod slot or something like a perk to make it stronger.

              • Yes. But not the perks. The power level like d1 did. And they should make power level mean something in IB and trials again, however minute. I wasn’t a try hard in d1. I just enjoyed the challenge AND I enjoyed having something to chase (light level) that just might put me over the top.

For PVE yes but PVP no (unfair to new players/teams)

                • No. That’s how Bungie broke the game in Year 1, and why they had to treat The Taken King as a soft-reboot of the game. How they treated this for Rise of Iron/Wrath of the Machine is the way to go. Raid weapons give performance benefits to make the raid easier. Trials gear gives soft pvp benefits that don’t blow up the game by giving the best players both a skill advantage AND a gear advantage.

                  • Yes. I think it has been proven that if the higher difficulty activities like the raid don't have great gear, players won't feel the need to run them. Which actually says something about the Leviathan raid. Players in general don't really find it all that fun. Complete it and move on. Honestly, it's the same with the Strikes. Maybe the community has just grown up to the degree that running the same PVE activities over and over and over and over again just isn't all that fun, and honestly has significant opportunity cost (e.g., playing other games with new content, or even playing more PVP where the opponent always has the chance of surprising you and doing something unexpected). I don't know. It just seems like the whole game design element of doing the same basic PVE repetitively again and again and again until you hit the jackpot has grown old and tired to me. I'll come back for IB, seasonal events and DLCs with new content, but I don't see myself wanting to continue to do the same activities over and over 200 times in between these events. What the game really needs (and has always needed) is top tier endgame content for the solo player. Think soloing Crota in D1 Y3 prior to the April update. Think solo Halo on Legendary setting. I'd come back and repeat that type of content from time to time, even if the rewards weren't all that good. It would be FUN for me.

                    • Agree and disagree. In Destiny 1, we first had an experience called Queen's Wrath. That event was the first where two unique shaders could be completed and then were left out of the loop until the 2nd DLC, House of Wolves. I think a similar thing should be the role actually moving forward: Best weapons and perks for that tier- Endgame Competitive Events and Prestige. The exception to this logic is how to get good enough gear for those things and that comes in the form of normal events like raids and Iron Banner. Ideally too? Iron Banner should not JUST be for the celebration of the Iron Lords. I think one event run by Saladin, the original one left, should be designated while the other Lady Efrideet should be for a more competitive, level advantages enabled. These would have to consist with one another, ect. This way? The rewards for playing tougher matches is yielded. Likewise? If you play the casual or more fun based? You get gear good enough to compete with the next tier. It's just a matter of making it work from starting point A to Z.

                    • Add another hard mode for people whp dont like raiding, and require less people. Like maybe an actual horde mode or defense mode.

                    • I have to agree. Casuals should not be on an even footing with those who have consistently put more effort into the game. Forever 29 might have sucked, but it kept me at the game trying to become 30. You barely have to play the game now, to get to top light.

                        • On paper it would make sense, play the hardest most time consuming activities and you should get rewards that are better than rewards you get anywhere else, so long as it's not too powerful otherwise people cry nerf.

                        • It should all be relative to the event you are playing in. Why raid when I don't get something that will help me in the raid?? VoG, Crota, WoTM, Kings Fall all gave gear that benefited the person during the raid and some perks outside of the raid (dmg against Hive Knights, Shoot through Hive Knight shields, Extra Damage to Oracles, etc.) PvP gear should have beneficial stuff to run during that event, but nothing game breaking. I could care less about Trials and I've never really cared about Crucible. If I remember correctly, didn't you get extra experience for wearing IB gear during IB? The gear now is just lame and doesn't benefit anything. Of the perks are neat, but nothing that would benefit the actual event.
