I’ve read some interesting takes on how to best approach Crucible in D2. Some say don’t be caught alone (1v1 is dead) while others see Bungie downplaying abilities/supers and up-playing gun fights, trying to keep encounters more bullet oriented than ability.
What does Bungie seem to want to accomplish with the changes they made?
For me, I see them potentially trying to remove the lone/op “slayer” from matches (at least in Quickplay). I don’t run Trials, so have no thoughts for that activity. Also, I’m suspicious of D2 maps being more “open spaces” so cross-mapping and team-shotting can occur, despite the few sniper alleys that can easily be replaced by Midas.

I think it's a philosophy we've seen before in other games and is not interesting or well-suited to the Destiny concept.

Destiny 2? I think you mean the Destiny franchise because it has not changed. The mindset is pubstomp or be stomped, inflate everything including your ego, reflect the shallow game by being a shallow player, play destiny competitively if you are not good enough to play Cod, Halo, Overwatch, Battlefield etc competitively. Aim for B rank Stardom, Complain about everything, Eventually become a hypocrite if you are not already, the only convictions you have are self fulfilling. Welcome to Destiny, especially the PVP side which is the most vocal and Bungie's Current focus.

1 ReplyBungie's crucible philosophy spawns from a disdain for solo players. Considering I'm a solo player, I of course only have negative feelings towards a system that's made to marginalize me.

I really dislike D2 PVP because I find it boring, monotonous and lacking any sort of replayability. The characters all feel the same, recovery is the only stat you should even give a shit about, the characters' abilities lack depth and fun. Titan puts up shields, warlocks heal and hunters Dodge??? There are only so many ways to use those. The maps are forgettable, the lack of choice of which game mode to play is a fail. No dedicated servers is a fail. 30fps in 2017 is a fail. Matchmaking algorithm likes to put me against stacked teams. Every game is a sweatfest. Rewards are useless. I can go on and on.

Crucible philosophy? Well, either balance at the expense of everything ... Or... “Play the way Bungie tells you.” Or... This game sucks and Bungie hates fun.

Edited by Swiftlock: 11/28/2017 11:54:33 PMThey sacrificed too much fun for the sake of "balance", and yet they forgot the part where they actually needed to balance the game. Now, PvP is just an awkward slog to see which side can teamshoot better, which isn't particularly interesting, imo.

1 ReplyGood if you are an smart player

3 RepliesWeapon balance. Right now, everything is viable if used at the proper range. Even green and white weapons can do work. No more needing a godroll of the current meta weapon to compete.

1 Reply1) Too many people abusing controllers in pvp. Can hit every shot even when head glitching. Get rid of controllers for pc so no aim assist. Also with that hackers cant abuse the aim assist to bypass anticheat ex blizzard and overwatch. 2) guns need to do more damage. Everyone is doing the same strat of running a circle around the map together. First team to split up the team's spawn wins. This will also allow more strats, diff gameplay and strats like cs go etc. aim will also play a bigger role than just having 4 people shooting 1 person at a time. 3) just let blizzard take over the policing. We all know bungie's ac is trash. 4) we need an elo system. I could care less if they took WoW's elo rating system and copied it. You get more points for a higher rating at a certain point in the week. Points allows you to buy armor / guns. Some stuff you cant buy unless you have a certain high elo. Flawless cards will grant extra points on points day. 5) players will be matched with similar elo There pvp fixed. Seriously if they did this the whole pvp aspect would be 100000x better than what it is now.

They need to fix it so good players can outplay three idiots all aiming down a hallway again. I can outplay 2 players close range with dodge and a last hope, but at long range it’s a matter of who has the most team mates with them, and THAT has really made the game predictable and boring. My current philosophy is if you see 2 or more and you’re alone, run or you’re going t— ope wait too late ur dead already.

1 ReplyI don't like the direction at all. They took away all my choices, removed special weapons, and nerfed space magic. Everything that made PvP fun has been killed. So now, I get to run around with two weak primary weapons and get to wait endlessly for some weak abilities/grenades/supers. There's even less variety of viable weapons in PvP than I have ever seen. Gun skill is a freaking MYTH. This PvP takes less skill than D1. I see almost no upside in this multiplayer offering.
