Destiny 2's Issues (And how they can be fixed, IMO)

Hi, my name is Mista. I am a Destiny Year 1 Veteran, and was playing all throughout each expansion. It was a very fun game, with many issues. Thankfully, a majority of those issues were fixed quickly by Bungie. Almost 4 years later, Destiny 2 was released. The fanbase was hyped. I was hyped. Hell, I still am. But I, along with about everyone else have noticed many issues with this otherwise great game. I am here to give my take on these issues, and how it could be fixed. This is in no particular order, and my opinion will most likely take an effect on my suggestions, so keep this in mind. Without any further ado, let's get right into it! Loot: Alright, we all saw this coming. Endgame (Trials, Raid) loot is not good enough, and doesn't feel rewarding enough compared to Heroic Public Events, which can give you gear just as good, but infinitely faster. As it stands, besides the awesome looking gear and weapons, there is no reason to do these endgame activities when you could just grind Public Events for a week or two. My solution for this issue is reduce the loot on Heroics (make exotics MUCH rarer), but still keep them relevant. Give more loot for Raid and Trials (like, 2-4 items per run), because it is very frustrating to spend anywhere from an hour to 4 hours with a team in a raid, just to get about 2 items. Prestige Raid: Unless you do it for fun or the sense of accomplishment, there is next to no reason to do the Prestige Raid. You get: Purely Cosmetic armor and Aura, and a Legend of Acrius ornament. That's it. That, at least for me, is nowhere near enough to justify suffering the Prestige Raid. Just to be clear, there is no issue with the Raid itself, just the rewards. Now hold onto your hats: just add some more loot! I'm talking badass weapons, noticeably different armor, maybe even a new color on your name in the Tower. You should be able to see someone who had completed the Prestige and think "Damn, that guy looks awesome!", instead of "wait, there's a difference?". The Enemies: Now while a bit less important than the previous issues, this is still worth mentioning. The enemies in Destiny 2 are getting rather well... bland. The AI's haven't changed since Destiny 1, and while we did get a couple more archetypes, it just wasn't enough. I can't come up with a solid solution for this, without completely changing the AI (or adding a new enemy type wink wink Bungie) The Crucible and Iron Banner: Now this first part may be a bit more of a personal issue, but Crucible needs a meta change. The only usable weapons are MIDA Multi Tool, Uriel's Gift Auto Rifle, Sins of the Past/Curtain Call Rocket Launchers, Fusion Rifles in general, Last Hope sidearm, Origin Story Auto Rifle, and maybe 1 or two others. If you are varying much from this small choice of weapons, you will be destroyed by anybody who isn't. There aren't just weapon issues, there are class issues. Titan's Fist of Havoc is absolute BS in my opinion, and your only way or survival is being far away. It is a panic button, where two buttons can save you and wipe an entire enemy team twice. D1 Fist of Havoc was better, where it only had 1 smash, so you couldn't just run around like a hurricane of death. Hunter, on the other hand, is very underpowered. Their entire stat (Mobility), while useful, pales in comparison to Recovery and even Resilience. The subclasses are also very weak. Nightstalker's Shadowshot is a joke, taking too long to activate and not doing enough. Warlock is in a fairly good spot, except for Dawnblade. Dawnblade is unusuable in PvP ( and PvE, on the topic), due to the small hitboxes on the projectiles, and the emphasis on air combat being too heavy for the Attunement of Air tree, and the emphasis on staying out of the air or else get caught with your pants down in Crucible. I could go on and on, but there are other issues to get to. Iron Banner doesn't reward enough, enough said. A simple on paper, but very difficult solution on the Bungie side would be to just balance the classes. I'm no game designer (thankfully), so I don't have a specific recommendation for this. We could tweak certain necessary weapons like the aforementioned MIDA, and buff other weapons, so there is a reason to use them. There are roughly 150 legendary weapons, and only about 11 are usable. The Exotics: In the original Destiny, Exotics were completely badass, and changed the way you played. The infamous Last Word exotic hand cannon was one of the most important reasons we played the Vault of Glass, and the Thorn dominated the PvP battlefield for some time. At the moment, Destiny 2's Exotics try too hard to be unique, and not hard enough on being Fallen killing machines. We want badass weapons that make you feel like a god, not a "cool asset". Strikes: This will be short, but Strikes are useless. You will do 2 regular strikes for the Zavala, and then only do Nightfalls. They don't reward anything above your power levels (except for exotics), and are just a waste of 20 minutes. My solution would be adding better rewards/incentive to doing these strikes, like a milestone or just better drops. Tokens: I personally have no issue with the token system (in fact, I like it), but I still feel like it's worth discussing. What people seem to not realize is that the token system isn't much different from D1's reputation system. It's the same thing, except instead of being a number, it's an item. Now I admit it is much less satisfying to get tokens from Raid chests than it is to watch those beautiful purples flow out like a waterfall, but it's the same amount of items really. More tokens are needed from the Crucible and Raid, but the token system itself isn't awful. The Casual Issue : Many dedicated Destiny fans, like myself, are upset by how easy the grind has gotten in Destiny 2. Before, you had to try to get an exotic, and I made it through all of year one without ever getting one. Now, players are handed these exotics on a silver platter, just for menial tasks like public events or completing the story. It makes us upset when we don't feel any accomplishment for doing hard activities for the best loot, when the best loot is handed out like candy anyways. The Clan Engram system, for example, doesn't even require you to beat the raid or even touch it to recieve rewards, all you need is 2 or more people in your clan to complete it. While I understand Bungie has to make their money somehow, and appealing to a larger fanbase certainly does that, they need to understand the dedicated, Year 1 fans. It's almost an insult, really, to see all our hard work means nothing because the game has became so casual, there isn't any grind left. The best way to fix this is just increase rewards for ACTUAL endgame content, and reduce it for low level content (like Public Events). Thank you very much for reading this overly-long mess of my ideas and thoughts, and let me just end by saying something very important. We need to stop shitting all over Bungie. Yes, they have messed up. No, they haven't yet fixed it. But jumping on the "Screw Bungie" bandwagon helps nothing. Instead, give actual feedback.
