The Vex are Human-ish... let me explain...

"An evil so dark it despises other evil." Or maybe a light stretched so far that it broke. Back in the golden age it is confirmed that the lovely folks at Clovis Bray were turning people into robots, example: the exo. But what if they had tried something else first? Maybe before they found a way to insert someone's mind into an exo they tried fitting the whole person in there... just liquefying them first? These machines would however prove unstable. The worm gods or the ahamkara likely taught them the secret to time travel, although they probably didn't know they were of the darkness at first. Regardless they went back in time, multiplying themselves as they went, and began installing themselves on other planets in order to destroy the darkness before it even arrived. The grimoire states: "The Protective is clearly engaged in a colossal project, but as with much Vex behavior, it's unclear whether their ultimate purpose is even comprehensible to us. The Protective may be reacting to an event that has yet to occur, or working towards a goal that - to us - is already historical fact." Their fight against the darkness would not last long, as we've seen with the likes of Dredgen Yor, when faced with incredible power and the call of the darkness, even the brightest can fall. Maybe it was the worm gods or the ahamkara who first told them the secret to time travel, knew that rather than combat the darkness they would instead seek to make themselves more powerful. Before you even comment "Books of Sorrow" it is possible that when Crota opened that portal to the vex gate system, they recognized who he was and went to attack (as they would also know the future and what he would do humanity) because remember, the Vex learned sword logic and became obsessed with killing after they discovered Oryx's throne world. This could be the point where the vex went from traveling back in time to stop the darkness to trying to become time gods. It is from the invasion of Oryx's world where the Vault of Glass came, and according to some theories (the black garden heart being the darkness/ worms) that this event also triggered the creation of the black garden. This theory is probably wrong but eh. It's fun to speculate.

  • Some vex may have been human at some point but were "infected" by vex radiolaria. My proof is the aegis grimoire, the sturm quest and Asher's robotic arm.

  • <The Vex didn't create the Black Garden, they merely found it. They like the "perfect shape" that the Darkness talks about, but they envision themselves on top. We won't know what created them, maybe CoO will explain it. Do know this, though, they are human-like in that the Vex can show emotion. Fear, anger, empathy, and I believe in moments of joy, but there has yet to be an example of that one.>

    • I know there was a theory a while back about Kabr being then first Vex. A kind of looping paradox which has no beginning. It was something along the lines of him using Vex scraps to disguise himself while trapped in the Vault of Glass, but ended up losing his mind from the exposure to the Radiolaria. There were a few more details about how the Vault of Glass made it possible, but I can't seem to remember what they were.

    • Except the vex were here during the golden age and had nothing to do with Clovis Bray.

    • I had an unrelated thought. Maybe the Vex are trying to like create a large supercomputer to simulate their own reality, a dream like state of the Vex version of Paradise. The Universe's laws can be quite disappointing after all.

    • Interesting theory, but as soon as people got put into these constricts we learned how to time travel?
