"Hey friend, wanna play Destiny 2?"
"Nah not feeling Destiny lately"
"Yeah same kinda"

"Hey man Iron Banner is out this week! Wanna grind it out?"
"Nah man don't feel like playing D2"
"Yeah same... Just bored, I'll play something else"

Repeat Repeat Repeat
Bungie, whatever made D1 good and make people want to come back to play more... You lost it. It's gone. It ain't there. You assume way too much about what you think people want by looking at statistics and need to spend more time on these forums and catering to the people who actually care and think about the game that you guys are making. I'm gonna rant now, because I need to. I care about Destiny, I love the universe and I want it to be good. But man... Some of the things you guys have done with this game are in the complete opposite direction from what your consistent playerbase wants. It is VERY clear that you guys care more about your statistics than actual feedback. If this actually isn't the case, then somehow you've managed to make me and a lot of other people feel this way, which is bad.
When you release a sequel... You're supposed to expand on the things that made the original great and weed out the things that made it bad...
But instead of expanding you watered the experience down so much that the game completely lacks in any depth. It's really disappointing... For a week now I've been saying to myself "Destiny 2 is good, and I will go back to play it soon...." only, I just can't. I literally feel stupid playing it. How the hell are we supposed to "BECOME LEGEND" when everything we do is streamlined to how Bungie wants us to play? The skill trees are an absolute joke and one of the worst design decisions in any game ever. How could you ever think that this would be okay in an MMO type game that is supposed to keep people playing? Where's the potential for experimentation? What is there to make me feel like I've done something cool? What is supposed to make me feel like a legend? The exotics are a joke too. Every time I read the perk for the Akamhara Hunter gauntlets (whatever they're called) I die on the inside because in D1 THEY WERE GOOD, AND EXCITING, AND CHANGED HOW YOU PLAYED THE GAME but now......... Tripmines stay on the wall a bit longer WOOPDYDOO, how is that cool or fun or exciting? What a kick in the balls. Why even bring it back if you're gonna make it a useless piece of trash? Make something new, and make that trash at least! Random weapon rolls.... Oh man, the joy of opening an engram to find a legendary weapon called asikdjhasd idk something dumb and to INSTANTLY KNOW, without checking the perks that it sucks and I shouldn't bother with it because I know what the best weapons are! There is no potential for a darkhorse that will have people thinking "Damn what is that gun? Must have been a good roll!" there is just nothing in this game! It's all art! It's a hoax! A con! It's an art exhibition! I don't care if random weapon rolls don't return but you HAVE to find a substitute for it because the game is DRY without it.
As it stands, Destiny 2 is only its art. The art you guys at Bungie put out is simply phenomenal, but it's completely wasted on the lack of innovation and creativity of the design team. It's laughable that the only modifiers you guys can make to increase the nightfall difficulty is a timer. Don't get me wrong, I like the timed modifiers... But the fact that they are the ONLY modifier is just insane for a game in 2017. How about, "Find the hidden captain in blahblah area of the strike and defeat him - guarantees legendary engram", or "Double sprint speed, but you take double damage while sprinting" YA KNOW, FUN STUFF THAT DIVERSIFIES GAMEPLAY?
Destiny 2 is an epic sci-fi shooter with EPIC art and EPIC LORE but the GAME that you actually PLAY is a puddle of slightly warm water! Bungie... You're too afraid to try cool and interesting things. You're too worried that the PVP will turn into a mess if you actually make the game the explosive experience that it should be. Here's a solution... "In PVP, exotic perks are disabled, rockets and grenade launchers are disabled" and then go wild with those weapons and exotic perks in PVE! Idk man, that might actually suck, but figure out a way to make us feel like the legends we're supposed to be because right now I feel like I'm in one of those dreams where you know you have super powers and could do something but for some reason you can't and you wake up regretting everything.
Everything has been dumbed down so that lil Jimmy from down the street who only gets to play an hour a week can stand at the top with the players who have hours upon hours in the game. Little does Bungie know... Lil Jimmy from down the street has a lot of games to play in that hour in the week and, since he doesn't have the time to remain invested, will probably play other games instead! Why design the game for those people? Why? Make the game exciting for the people who care so that the community who represents the game can entice those casual players more!
A game like Destiny should be built for the hardcore community. When I first got Destiny 1 a year in after everybody else, I didn't look at other players and think "Man screw those guys. It's so unfair that they have all this stuff because I haven't played as much as them!" .... NO. I thought, "Man thats so cool! I can't wait to get to that stage and be awesome like that!" so I made it my mission to raid and play the endgame activities and then I convinced other friends who called Destiny sh1t to get onboard and wow they liked it too! Destiny 2 has none of this! There is no epic feeling to anything in Destiny 2.
Believe it or not... I actually liked the fact that I could play a raid and get very little amounts of loot... It just made getting the loot next time all the better! The difference is... Those weapons back then were actually good! Fatebringer! Black Hammer! Vision of Confluence! And exotics being extremely rare outside of raid drops and nightfall meant playing those activities was always exciting! The hunt for the Ghorn was awesome! It took me forever to get it. The first time I ever went flawless in Trials is when I got my Ghorn and BOY was that a special night on Destiny! I'll never forget it. Is there anything in D2 that is memorable beyond maybe beating Calus for the first time? No. I don't think so. Do I get excited over exotic drops in D2? No absolutely not because you get them so frequently, Xur is a thing, you literally get them from playing the campaign and 90% of them are bad/not fun/don't change how you play. Exotics are a hoax. It's the same game all the time. There's no variation... Another minor complaint is that the Titan class is the most mundane, but super-wise, the most consistently great. All of the Titan supers are roaming, charging, AOE damage dealing monsters. Defender in D1 wasn't great in PVP but when someone used it it was always amusing! And if it worked then WOW it was AWESOME! And Dawnblade??? WHERE THE HELL IS SELF RES? GOD I MISS THAT. I never even had a Warlock in D1 but self res made me wish I did! God damn it. So many bad decisions made in the design of D2. I just... Some of the decisions I look at and seriously wonder how anyone could approve of them? Where are my advanced skill trees? That expand upon D1s skilltrees? They're nowhere! Gone are the days of builds and innovation and feeling powerful or smart! Hello to the days of just getting by.
PLEASE, fix this game! Year 2 update, TTK style..... Rework all of it. Please. Make the game exciting!
