Stuttering/Jittering With Vsync Off (On G-SYNC Monitor)

Destiny 2 has worked perfectly well for me, until the most recent patch/update. All of a sudden, my performance is riddled with an insufferably subtle jittering issue. It's just enough that I cant get it out of my head. This does not appear to be a frame rate problem, I'm constantly pulling 100+ fps according to the in-game counter. My computer is plenty powerful enough to handle the load Destiny is putting on the PC (Core i7, GTX 1080, etc.), as it has done it before. Since launch actually, and up until now, it has been fine. Weirdly, when I turn on vsync 60 fps, the stuttering seems to go away. However, this limits the framerate to 60, and I'd like to be able to take advantage of my computer's power. My display is a 144hz G-SYNC, my GeForce drivers are up to date, I've attempted a CVARS.xml refresh, but nothing has changed the performance. Am I doomed to just live with this subtle change in performance? Thanks, Redgrave

i've been struggling with same problem of yours for days. I've tried many fixes found on internet but nothing really fixed it, at start. Now the game works perfectly fine. The Fix: (for nvidia) 1) uninstall the xbox app for windows 10 - Open the Windows 10 Search Bar, and type in PowerShell. - Right-click the PowerShell app and click “Run as administrator”. -Type the following command and press the Enter key: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage -Wait until the process is finished. It should only take a few seconds to run. -Type exit and press the Enter key to exit PowerShell. 2) disable any i really mean ANY overlays like nvidia overlay ingame etc 3) make a CLEAN install of your nvidia drivers (you can use the easy and functional GURU3D DDU https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html 4) Right click on the Destiny 2 executable, select 'Override high DPI scaling behaviour' and select 'Application' from the list under 'Compatibility' tab 5) go ingame set up VSYNC on (yes gsync sucks on this game, i've a z35 predator gsync 200hz and it does not work), set up a sync who is lower than your max refresh rate (for me it's 100) This way i play destiny 2 att 100fps fixed (never move from there) at max detail without a sincle stutter, it's maximum smoothness and perfect gameplay. Hope this guide works for you, cause it worked wonder for me. My spec: i7 8700k clocked to 4.4ghz gigabyte aorus gaming 7 msi 1080ti gaming x 16 gb ram corsair dominator 3200 (select XMP on the bios if u can) windows 10 pro acer predator z35 200hz gsync

  • Unfortunately, this has been an issue since the first or second patch. Bungie has ignored everyone reporting it claiming one of their patches has fixed it and refusing to acknowledge that many are still having stutter issues. Take a look at all the videos shared here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/238995606?sort=0&page=0 One of which is mine. It's still a problem.

  • I'm having the exact same issue... It's definitely not a frame-rate issue, as my frames are solid (90+ here). I've got Core i7, GTX 970, and also a 144hz Gsync monitor. What I have noticed is this seems to be tied to mouse movement. When I am moving my character w/o any mouse input, there is no stutter, but the moment I begin to look around there is this slight and subtle stutter. I've tried changing practically all of the video settings to various things, and nothing seems to work. It's not game-breaking by any means, but it's certainly annoying as heck! I was one of the ones that had dealt with the deteriorating performance issues before. And since all the updates, I haven't seen it get as bad as it used to. But this stutter is still noticeable. Help!

Totally on the same boat, 144hz monitor with GTX1070 + i7-5820k, I could either play with delay with V-sync on, or stutters a lot with V-sync off. Edit: the game stutters like crazy since the second patch, but everything was so smooth when the first time I play.

  • Once you fly to another planet it fixes it for a while but then goes back to stutter after 5-10 minutes.

Fixed this since replying to Quantum earlier today, for me at least. Was running game in Windowed Fullscreen mode (with two monitors, makes it easier to interact with Teamspeak) while having the random stuttering/hitching issue. On a whim tried plain old Fullscreen mode, and the problem totally went away. Played several public events and looted a few lost sectors with some screwing around in between. Everything was smooth the entire time. Not one hitch or stutter. Even got 10-20 frames more. (150 avg in lost sectors and 115 avg during the events). Loving this game now. I don't mind having to alt-tab between monitors to solve this problem. Full specs are: i7-6700k @ 4.6 GHz Zotac 1080 amp extreme Asus ROG PG248Q Swift OC'd @ 170Hz G-Sync'd 32 GB Corsair DDR4 OC'd @ 2666 MHz Corsair H115i liquid cooler Gigabyte GA-170X Gaming 7 mobo (Killer Ethernet with this game prioritized) Corsair RM650X PSU Win 10 Pro Win 10 Gaming Mode enabled for this game via Game Bar settings OS and all drivers are latest builds

  • Well, Good thing Im not the only one. Starting today I've noticed some microstuttering or whatever you want to call it when I'm playing. It last but maybe a quarter of a second but I notice it. i7-7700k/1070 1440p 144hz monitor here.
