People may dislike D1 because of ability spamming, god roll gear, the grind for items that may never drop, quests lines for exotics that were time intensive, pub stomping in pvp, or trials that rewarded the best with the best. But, there was variety, replay value in the hunt for those items. More importantly, choice of play. This will always and forever win over stale, repetitive, static, and linear play. This holds true for any game.

No one cares about time intensive quest lines, so long as they don’t require forced grouping. Basing your sense of self-worth to being able to ruin the game experience of other players (e.g. “pub-stomping”) is neither healthy for you nor the game Random perk roles on weapons and gear are fine if the appropriate complimentary systems are also put in place (buying specific items with shards, rerolling single perks at the gunsmith). The most important thing is that players can make max power level without touching forced grouping. Beyond that, most people are adaptable enough to take advantage of new/modified systems when they are implemented.

  • Aside from the people that walk away from quest line that are hard and time intensive. You speak from an antisocial perspective. This game isn't for you it appears.

  •
Aside from the people that walk away from quest line that are hard and time intensive. You speak from an antisocial perspective. This game isn't for you it appears.
If someone walks away from a quest line, then they don’t deserve the reward, as a rule. You can call me anti-social, but I run a 0 risk profile with how I spend my free time, especially when it comes to video games. I refuse to suffer the “LFM Leviathan, must have 10+ clears, know all fights. Will kick on death” crowd anymore. The consequence is I don’t get to experience some content, which is fine. That said, netdecking a character build and following directions in a Youtube guide is not skill. Anyone who chooses to complete the raid gets faster progression, and rightly so, but they shouldn’t get progression above what a player who chooses not to raid should get. Or, put another way, all routes should lead to 305, but some people should be able to get to 305 faster than others.

  • Misunderstood you mate. Nicely done. My group came back to have a look at the content in D2 and flat out walked away. I concur in regards to light level and activity rewards. Individuals should not be penalized for solo queuing but they are.

  • For some players. Not for others.
