No. If D2 replaced D1 in 2014, and we wiped all previous notions, expectations, and experiences, and just took each game by what it offers ‘out of the box’, the answer is no.

  • D1 vanilla was fun fun fun and the raid was epic! D2 not so much. It’s boring with great potential, but still boring. And the raid is a boring joke.

  • You’re missing the point. D1 was a fresh, new experience. If D2 was the game that launched in ‘14, *it* would be the fresh, new experience and you’d be lauding it the way you are D1.

  • And besides I don’t love D1. I loved it until they had nerfed the shit out of everything! Year 3 was boring as hell, and that’s what they’ve done with D2 (nerfed the shit out of it). Hopefully they will spend 3 years buffing everything!

  • Maybe, but the point is that D1 vanilla was epic, fun weapons, grenades, subclasses. The story missions were challenging because of light level, nightfall was fun and really challenging, and the raid was epic and really challenging! Nothing is challenging in D2, and even though there’s a lot of potential, it is BORING! If I could choose I would play D1 vanilla and run around with vex mythoclast, the most fun weapon ever!

  • Wow, we've resorted to the "If..." barrel of possibilities. If Destiny didn't even exist then I wouldn't be responding to your post. Destiny does, and I am. Fact vs Fiction. All previous experiences can't be wiped away. Great thing about the past, it stands on its own 2 feet, no excuses or reasons. Try to run and hide from it, ignore it, wish it away... it will still be there though.

  • I’m not hiding from the past, I’m just able to see the forest through the trees. D2 at launch was never going to be a continuation from where D1 ended. Bungie found a formula to extract the most amount of money from its playerbase and they’re taking advantage of it. What I’m saying is that D2, at launch, is a better game than D1 was, at launch. You people all have this emotional connection to things like VoG, for example, and I get it, because I was there, too. But because things were all brand new, fresh experiences, Bungie will never be able to capture that spark again. It’s like the first time a child eats chocolate. You’ll never see that child make the same face again, no matter how much chocolate you provide. The fact is, you’re basing your judgement on an emotional connection you have with D1, which is ironic considering how much hate that game suffered through in its infancy. D2 at launch, independent of all preconceived notions and experiences with its predecessor, is a far superior title than D1. If you can’t separate your emotions from facts, that’s on you.

  • meh, I don't wax nostalgia or get emotional over anything now. Especially a game. Which is supposed to be fun. The Fun my mates and I had day 90 in D1 was exponentially greater than anything now day 75 D2. I've had 1 (ONE) fun experience and that was the prestige pyramidion nightfall with torrent and time warp zero hour with my double pulse Titan. That was fun, and I think I fired my weapons 2 or 3 times b4 final boss room. D2 is room temperature oatmeal for breakfast. True, I could go hungry but compared to D1 & VoG which had Fatebringer, vex, exotic chests for the gjally, found verdict, vision, etc..., on and on and on. So much was there in D1 from the start, that just ISN'T here at start of D2.
