The truth behind why people hate Destiny 2.
All the hate and all the love stem from the same place. We are passionate about this game because we want more out of it. Somehow people have forgotten that. We are upset because we want more out of D2. We love the game because of what we get out of it. We do actually care where this is going. Toxic community or not we want this game to go somewhere. So Bungie let's make it better. If not for your fans to actually save your game.
Add: I'm surprised how many respectable and honest opinions we have here. Only a few randoms. With that said I don't believe this game is through growing. Many of you make wonderful points but alas we must wait to see the outcome. This game will become something, whether or not it will become what we as a community want, that remains to be seen.
Add-2: Some people are getting off topic but many also bring up great points. As it stands this is what constructive criticism looks like minus some randoms.

Lessons not learned are the most aggravating thing about D2 lack of truly dedicated servers for at least PVP is a close 2nd, if not 1st

4 RepliesHate me or not for saying so, but I believe too many D1 vets had a very high expectation for D2. D2 is a brand new game, very unlike D1, regarding armor, weapons etc. Play it and like it (or not) for what it is. If not, I’m sure there are many other games available for people to play. I run 2 accounts and am happy with D2, regardless of all the ‘nay sayers’ on this forum. This is my personal opinion, to which I am entitled to. 😎

even if you got more out of bungie and actually had a decent amount of content for about a month, and it was really good, i predict that it still wouldn't satisfy people.

This is so true. Yeah there’s lots of hate but i feel like the majority of it, comes from the love n passion for Destiny. Me personally, i think or at least thought this game had the potential to be the greatest game ever made. W all the right improvements, additions, more content etc. it could be one of the best ever. Yet, they have no vision. No ambition. They made the game, did what they had to and now it’s about sitting back n collecting their LOOT. IT gets me pretty angry n frustrated just thinking about it.

66 RepliesThe problem is that there are just too many different kinds of players playing Destiny. There are those that see this as an improvement, and there are those that see D2 as going backwards, and it all depends on what kind of gaming background you have and your level of commitment to the game. Casuals are going to like how easy the game is and how easy it is to get everything. MLG players from Halo are going to like the team-oriented nature of the PVP and how it removes tactics and weapons [u]THEY[/u] deem "cheap" (i.e., stuff that takes different skills they won't recognize). Then there are those who see this as a step backwards because its several steps removed from being an MMO/RPG type game. And its even MORE steps away from being a looter game and more towards being a casual FPS game. Bungie has never gotten it right with how they could please everyone, and tbh, its really quite simple. They used to understand that you had to provide different strokes for different folks back in their Halo days. That's why, in addition to 4v4 Slaper and 4v4 MLG, they had objective, btb, swat, snipers, rockets & rail guns, and all these lists that catered to different kinds of Halo players. Well all they needed to do was make different modes to cater to different people. Specifically, all they had to do to "balance" the game was separate the competitive PVP from the rest of the game so that the competitive players could have their perfectly balanced mode without negatively effecting the rest of the game. After that, they could adjust the rewards system so that Casual Joe can earn [i]some[/i] good stuff while playing PVE casually. And they can reserve the game's best rewards for those who want to take on the game's hardest challenges so that there is still something to play for for the hardcore and dedicated player. Sure, the casuals will want to get the games best stuff too, but if your logging on and playing less, you can't expect to get all the best stuff as fast as everyone else. If the game was MORE MMO-ISH and less FPS-ish in that the world around us just kept growing and being added to rather than having a reboot occur roughly every other year, that allows casuals to play at their own pace, eventually overlevel in comparison to older content, and they can thereafter go back and earn the best stuff the older content provided. And with the infusion system, they could then take those guns and make them relevant so they COULD experience that awesome gear. They just won't have the latest gear, and there's nothing wrong with that. It wouldn't be picture perfect but its what can please the most people which is what Bungie should want to do at the end of the day.

I ment to say the story has no plot You start with cabal you go to fallen then hive and then vex r then back to cabal it should be all about cabal because of the red legion and shit but do add some other enemy to keep the cabal buisy and Hawthorne, piece of shit at first she said guardians bla bla wuteves but after she's like, see I started thus clan thing because...

The problem is potential. D1 had the potential to be one of the greatest games made. It probably still is, but the bugs it had particularly in PvP made too many people rage. If people died due to being outplayed I think we could accept that. People dying because of poor connections or clutching or even downright cheating is too frustrating. When D2 came out we were promised that they had addressed this and the reason they didnt use dedicated servers was cos their matchmaking was much improved. It wasn't. It was more the same. For example if I'm shooting people and I kill them I get a grasp of how my gun behaves. If I don't kill them I adapt until I understand the behaviour and ranges. Then in mid game I don't seem to be able to kill anyone playing the same way where previously I was, then you have to accept you didn't change something in the game changed. This is frustrating. The game is fun as Hell, but the potential it had is a long distance away. They need to address lag properly. They need to improve perks on armour and weapons. They need to allow people to chose their activity. I hate supremacy. Why should I [i]have[/i] to play it if I want to play PvP?

They seemed to have not learned what made them successful in d1. They took a winning formula and tweaked it into something opposite of what we as a fan base was expecting. I was expecting d1 but expanded greatly upon. More raids new strikes weapon customization. New enemies characters world's to explore. Instead we get a dumbed down tame version with no goals no incentive and no customization to make your guardian the most unique badass in the galaxy. Even your power level means nothing now. Wheres the fun when everyone wins everyone gets the same gear and all activities give out the same reskinned boring fixed roll items. There is no brass ring to reach for. That's the saddest part.

My problem is the potential this game has. It has more potential than any other game I’ve played recently. A unique concept in an unique setting with amazing lore. But bungie never seem to capitalise on that potential, and sadly destiny 2 really misses the mark.

I absolutely loved Destiny 1 and spent over 2000 hours playing that game despite it's flaws. Destiny 2 should have been much better but it's far from that. You have less choice and more importantly: less reasons to repeat content you already completed before. On top of that the lack of random perks of weapons is causing everyone to use the same guns making fights extremely boring. 50% of the trail kills are made by only three guns (you may guess them) and that's plain stupid. Worst part is that most parts that annoy me are part of the core of Destiny 2 and will never be adjusted most likely. I haven't played Destiny 2 for two weeks now and haven't missed it were that was impossible for Destiny 1.I even discouraged a friend of mine to buy it during Black Friday which says enough i guess.

7 RepliesThe weapon system is trash, renaming everything is a derp move. The enemy ai is boringly predictable. How many types of minotaurs are there? Oh wow its a big one with a pistol. Doing the same crap every single enemy does. Fire cannon and if you get close aoe/melee. Pad the game without a sparrow. Idk what they were thinking there. I was a destiny one fan. I cannot play this god awful abomination. I havent played the raid nor do i care too.

Only way to fix it at this point is for bungie to sell the rights of destiny to a development company that actually cares about its playerbase and how the game performs. Who knows, maybe a company who cares about the people playing their game would even incorporate dedicated servers or fix their shitty netcode and game engine so we could have 60fps-you know, the standard-I mean it is 2017, 30 fps is just plain unacceptable and down right pathetic.

Some saps may tell you "oh D2 is just D1, same shit, still sucks" but when in the reality D2 is IMO alot LESS than D1 was, and that is what scares me and breaks my heart. It scares me to see what was once the crowning activities of this game give out sub par gear and blue/rare emblems instead of legendaries or exotics.

Nope, I hate the game and want it to die. Bungie needs to learn the hard way that their recent practices are not acceptable. They are setting a horrible example for other games being developed.(or well have another battlefront 2)

6 RepliesIt really doesnt matter does it? We have been giving this studio a steady stream of content for a span of 3 years now. Some things get picked up but all the great things get dropped anyway. The problem is this studio is about making money with a game now. Not making a great game and seeying how much people get excited and buy the game. If you really believe this studio is passionate about making Destiny great I have bad news for you. They have no intention to make this a 10 year adventure and expanding on everything. They just look at the easiest way to make money. DLC's and microtransactions are all content purposly left out to be sold seperately. R.I.P the game that Destiny could have been.
