So as we all know EA is making anthem and I was exited for the game, but I’m worried for what they will do to it. EA has come under some controversy after the Battlefront problem for micro-transactions, they weren’t going to fix it even after the outcry, but the actual LAW got into the mix and accused EA of making the customers gamble for the resources in the game. So after all of this goes down my immediate thought is “Anthem is probably gonna have a lot of micros-transaction” I was exited for battlefront 2, and I was exited for Anthem, but now it just seems like a “meh” thing for me now. And they will probably spice it up with micro-transactions and pay to win crap.

4 RepliesFrom my understanding, EA bombarded the game with a grindy loot system to balance out its lack of DLC purchases. So in essence it's a premium game but with a freemium progression system. Despite this, I still hear battlefront 2 is a fun and beautifully designed game. Most of the hate is the grind. I thought people loved the grind ? What's the point of a game if you unlock everything within 2 weeks.

Let me put it simply EA has a chance to smack bungie in the face by making a game so much better than destiny Why would EA purposely ruin it? Honestly everyone thinks the Star Wars loot box bs is the end of gaming Who cares? Call of duty has had supply drops for years but yet we let Activision do what they wanted all this time... Point being I expect anthem will be huge A game I think it’ll compare to is hopefully a big game like Warframe or better yet one of my all time favorite 360 free games defiance Both of these games were loot based grinders Warframe did a great job with missions whilst defiance was more about roaming and exploring. Think of fallout 4 how it is a huge game. EA can take a game and blow it out of the water I know they can. And if anthem winds up being a huge game it might become the next must buy game for 2018 When I say must buy I mean things like GTA V and similar games to it games that have a lot of freedom and fun involved that are just overall massive games. I expect EA to be careful with anthem seeing how it’s a rumored destiny killer that’s a huge statement seeing as D1 had some really amazing moments. So let’s just wish for the sake of us gamers anthem goes well

You do know EA is a publisher and not a developer right?
-
Tbh I doubt EA will learn their lesson and we'll be seeing some form of microtransactions in Anthem. It'll probably be the major flaw in the game that disqualifies it from the title of Destiny killer, just as the Division had a lot of glitches and spongy enemies.

6 RepliesDon't bother being worried. The game will be as hollow as Destiny. Itll have a big open world with nothing else but repetitive quests and enemies on a 15sec respawn timer. It will be a mediocre game without a souls, because the soul was already consumed by EA. Borderlands 3 is supposed to be shown the next E3. B3 may very well be our saviour. Praise the sun and hope its as good as it can be.

I really have a hard time having sympathy for people who keep getting disappointed by the same shit. There is not a single "shared world shooter" game that has been considered really good by most of the gaming community to date. On top of that, ea -blam!-s every single game they publish, I am astounded by how many people fall for the same shit over and over. Too many people operate on what they eat a game to be rather than what the game actually is/will be.

17 RepliesEdited by AendettV: 11/19/2017 6:48:54 PMIf people are suspicious of Anthem and want to wait until it's proven itself, welcome to the smart way of gaming. It shows people are learning. Edit: I also strongly believe Disney had more to do with the micro transactions getting halted than did EAs executives. Disney could have revoked the license due to the negative press and then, EA would have a total loss instead of a partial loss.

i think in terms of gameplay and story it will be good but the potential for a pay to win model is putting me off, i think its already been confirmed to have microtransactions but its possible they will be similar to destiny or ME3 and just involve cosmetic or multiplayer items

*Excited *Bioware

1 ReplyAnthem has always been kinda meh to me. Just another Destiny clone trying to do Destiny better than Destiny, but will ultimately fail.
-
11 RepliesEA is not making Anthem, BioWare is. EA did not make Star Wars: Battlefront II, DICE did. EA is a publisher, and EA sometimes makes developers implement systems in their games to make more money. Don’t blame developers for shady things. Understand the difference between developer and publisher. Thank you.

Edited by eviltedi: 11/20/2017 1:42:30 PMEA is not making Anthem. I think there will be changes though, this whole loot box thing is in the open now, we'll see what happens.

I don’t know EA is getting some backlash so maybe it won’t be as bad as everyone thinks but I get what you’re saying

1 ReplyEA killed Visceral Games. They will have no more of my sympathy. I trust them about as far as I can stab em in the back. #EARotInHell

I don’t care.
But other people do for various reasons... the same way people care about Battlefront (a game I never played) and EA (I like Dragon Age: Origins), but I have a hard time understanding why. I don’t understand why people like Battlefront, I don’t understand why people are hyped for Anthem, I don’t know why people support things they don’t like.
Edited by CatMan: 11/20/2017 3:42:20 AMThey aren't making it, but they are going to tell bio to put a shit load of microtransactions in the game.
-
EA is merely publishing, but that does give them some worrisome control of the development. Other worried include: -The death of a member of the team. -The departure of another. -It’s a “shared world shooter.” Those always seem to need an extra year or so before they become something truly good. On the other hand: -Bioware has fixed some of the issues that forced them to rush a good portion of Andromeda, such as how Frostbite handles things other than explosions. -No clear worry about studio shuffling during development, yet.
-
Honestly, I'm not too worried about it. It's a completely different style of game. The whole point of an online looter is to grind for countless hours, and I doubt they would give players a shortcut to bypass all of that. I would bet that there would be micro-transactions, but in the more traditional, purely cosmetic way. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

14 RepliesI have the same fear for Titanfall 3, now that EA owns Respawn. It WAS the perfect game, as far as how microtransactions were handled and how DLC was handled. If they change the way they deliver DLC (which is ALL free) or if progression can be aided by microtransactions, i wont be getting it.
-
2 RepliesHow EA handled Battlefront 2 has completely screwed over any hype there was for Anthem. Anthem went from a game that was hyped even more than Destiny 1 to an afterthought due to their own actions. And deservedly so. Bioware must be pissed right now as they're caught in the crossfire over a decision they had no part of and will suffer for.

1 ReplyYou mean they might do something dumb like put all of the cool stuff into the microtransaction loot boxes and and only put RNG token loot in the actual game? No one would be that stupid!
