i mean i know these forums are filled with haters but can anyone definitively explain to me why it is a garbage raid. i did it for the first time today and went immediately back into it again. went blind through the entirety of it and i spent about 3 hours in the underbelly when the raid released. it's not overly complex and doesn't require the communication which WOTM needed. I feel it combines the parts from each raid that i enjoy. Gauntlet is the parkour from the daughters and oryx. Baths is the bridge from CE. pleasure gardens is the gorgons maze from VOG. and Calus is the more fun version of WOTM. i mean the loot system in general could use a rework but i don't think tokens are the worst thing in the world once you've gone through mmo rpg loot systems. to be fair though, the loot system isn't the raid, you can bitch about the weapons but i like them. I just don't see the fuss and why everyone hates it. I went in with 4 of us not knowing what to do for over half of the areas and we managed. took us roughly 3 hours. in summary tho, git gud bungie forums ;)

Edited by MikeHoncho: 11/20/2017 10:34:50 PMThe callout mechanics are what kills the fun for me. In every other raid I've played there are precise moments where you have to communicate, but once you get familiar with them you can joke around or just have normal conversation most of the time you play. Not this raid. No one can talk because we constantly have to do annoying callouts like dog and seed locations or say "dog, sun, cup" or some variation of that for the 10 billionth time.

The raid is fun the first time, maybe the second, then it just gets old fast ... There are no "save" moments where one or two players can clutch the encounter, no interesting in-between bosses (none at all actually), and it just becomes annoying as opposed to fun. Yes, the Leviathan looks nice, but shooting arrows on a wall, or shooting a dog in the back who is not even defending itself, or shooting chandeliers is just not very engaging once you have done it once. And the rewards are just plain garbage the way they are done...

2 RepliesEdited by michaeljacksen: 11/20/2017 2:38:01 PMMy Biggest Leviathan Issue: You can’t LFG this thing Obviously if you got a team of friends, you are going to do well in any Destiny Raid. But what happens when your friends have had enough and stopped playing - you have to LFG. Now in Destiny 1 , I was an LFG master. And every raid seemed to go pretty well with randoms . Prob only had about a 20% of teams that were shit shows. But I have noticed Leviathan is harder for rookies to grasp. It’s just a little too hard, to easy to wipe. And I know your brain is formulating a response to this saying the raid is easy . . . but let me reiterate. . . This raid seems to be more tricky for an LFG team compared to CROTA, Vault, Oryx or Wrath.

If the rewards were better it would be worth doing. I like the Calus fight much better than the glitchfest Aksis teleport slamming.

Shit system mixed with the shitty MMO trend of making raids into tedious combination of puzzles and DPS checks. Where did the good ol raids where it was a mix of teamwork and skill. Destiny with its great combat mechanics should be using giant fights against swarms of enemies supporting bosses and mini bosses where players have to work together to combine their class skills to survive, instead of the tedium that is stuff like whats in the gauntlets. The final boss fight is even decent its what leads up to it thats utter awoken shit. Not to mention because of how the puzzle works majority of players are locked out of doing it. The broken in-game voice that on the PC and guided games makes the matter even worse for small clans and lone wolf players and "casuals".

2 RepliesMechanics: it's silly. It's not a fight, it's a relay race, stealth gardening, another relay race, and then connect four. Entertainment factor: there's only so many "rinse and repeat" cycles I can stand. The best parts of the raid are playing the lollipop game in the castellum. Lore: Two things. 1. We spent a game clawing our way back to power after a devastating attack where we lost, basically, everything. The big endgame raid? Jump through hoops and dance around for Calus' entertainment. 2. This is a raid against the Cabal, the most warlike civilization in the universe, who base their entire life around war, giant legions, huge fleets, and victory or death. So in their infinite wisdom, the developers thought that the best option for a raid would be a set of carnival games. Rewards: well, they suck, but whatever. I could live with that if the raid itself was worth doing more than once.

Its boring/gets boring fast. Rewards arent worth it.

Edited by Ravontulet: 11/20/2017 3:01:51 PMI liked leviathan - but its all just mechanics. power level hardly matters, and a lot of the time - if you messed up one damn thing you have to start over. Its not a difficult raid, its just picky. and filled with damage multipliers to help guardians with 2 primary weapons do DPS. To top it off. There are 5 encounters, one you repeat 4 times - and only 1 boss. Now in the next 2 DLCs we get mini leviathans - with potentially MORE of the same. Is leviathan bad, not exactly. But its not great either IMO

I don´t "hate" it,because I don´t know it. But I can´t just pick it and play it,because I need to find 5 other people to play with.Same as the Trials and NF. I AM in a Clan,yes-but I´m not on a Team. Actually, most people in here are in a Clan-but most Clan members are not on a team. In D1 I was left out of most of the best Endgame,-the same happens in D2!

Edited by Ekaterine: 11/20/2017 2:53:54 PM1. The lore is garbage, this ship is about to eat a planetoid and we are just playing games for a robot's amusement, not even bothering to actually do anything about the ship. 2. Most of the encounters are just slightly changed versions of past encounters, baths is totems, dogs is gorgons with a damage phase, and gauntlet is sisters without a damage phase. 3. Cabal are not fun to fight. 4. Two of the encounters have little to no fighting and the underbelly is just another way to avoid fighting, why would you allow that in a raid? 5. Most of the loot is shit. 6. Since it is non-linear it feels more like a glorified PoE than a raid. 7. A physics based encounter with this physics engine, really?

12 RepliesEdited by Never Black: 11/20/2017 2:20:58 PMthe number 1 reason people dont play it, not even necessarily hate it is because the rewards are shit..... litteral dogshit. its just not worth it, no gear specific perks no gun specific perks nope. So people say why the -blam!- would i waste my damn time with this pain in the ass raid just to get shit rewards. Second is the raid itself, the mechanics require alot of coordination, if even one idiot -blam!-s up you have to wipe. the whole relic callout thing and all that is so simple butbwhen your playing with a team you found on forums then its complicated affff. i beat it once and hellllll -blam!-ing no ill never go into that raid again lmfao but then again i dont even play d2 anymore. the raid becomes even more pointless when u can just hit 305 doing nightfalls and all that bs. they should make it so only raid gear can get you passed 300 or to 305.

4 RepliesIt’s dull & unimaginative; the path Bungo seem to be going down right now 😳

3 RepliesBecause 90% of it is mechanics and only 10% shooting. In a shooter.

the loot is part of the raid the raid armour and weapons just dont feel special like vault of glass ect did there is no diffrence between them and any other weapons most of the raid weapons are worse than gunsmith weapons giving tokens for the raid is a joke in all fairness when u turn them in and get lower power gear means theres no incentive to play the raid which is mostly if not all mechanics theres only 1 boss fight so after 2 completions or so it stops becoming fun to run vault of glass was different because it felt rewarding i remember people were sooo happy when 1 of us got fate bringer or the vex getting an item you was seeking took away from the repetitiveness and made it fun to play unfortunately leviathan isnt like that i used to look forward to the weekly reset so i could run the raid on all 3 characters in hopes of getting that piece of armour to boost my light level up destiny 2 in just gives you everything to easily so takes the sence of achievement away but to say the rewards from the raid are not part of the raid experience take away the main reason most people run the raid every week

People like to hate... simple as that... personally i like it very much

3 Repliesthe problems that i have with the raid is that it's boring to me, that it's way too gold, the gear isn't interesting, the raid drops are poor, the token system feels tacked on,it is vastly dependent on everyone not screwing up, depends highly on communication and there aren't many wow moments. First lets go over your points i didn't get to do WOTM so i can't talk about that but the whole raid in my experience is based on communication bathers requires it on the switching dogs require it on getting to the flower and killing the dogs(unless you are all running pulse grenades ;>) gauntlet requires it for all of it seriously try getting through it with no communication at all it is annoying. calus requires you to call the symbols which is communication. Gauntlet is fine and is personally my favorite part it is actually fun. from my own experience both bridge and gorgons(i loved gorgons) were skipped alot but lets have this talk anyways baths is fine if a bit mediocre and dogs is just bullshit if it didn't have the timer(that decreases with kills) i would be fine with it but it's a stealth mission with a timer personally i wish they would have left the timer alone and make the dogs harder to kill when you kill one(like the gorgons) but the timer is boring. once again can't talk on WOTM but callus needs to chill with the adds like jesus specifically the phalanxes just remove those and i will be ok with the amount of adds the other thing is callus is very glitchy but i am going to assume those have been fixed for this talk. now for my points the raid is that it's boring to me(this is just a personal thing but to me it feels like they took the things people didn't like doing and made them a raid i also feel like if they had broken these up better maybe put them in other raid content there would be less complaints), that it's way too gold(once again just a personal thing but i just dislike lots of gold it always feels like i should be fighting gold member and not calus),the gear isn't interesting(sure the rocket is nice and the sword is awesome but everything else is kinda meh),the raid drops are poor(as in not many and it feels like this was done to have the token system matter),the token system feels tacked on,it is vastly dependent on everyone not screwing up(this is a problem for guided games), depends highly on communication(see above) and there aren't many wow moments( vog had the cave feel to start then opened into ruins followed by either more cave diving or a really large jump in to a ravine followed by the jump puzzle and then the gates and the glass structure leviathan is has a few but most are kinda meh). also WE LEAVE THE PLANET EATING MACHINE ON WHEN IT'S EATING NESSUS AND FAIL SAFE.
