Official thread for nameplate unlock support

Please keep it clean and productive in here. Don't post your cd key (duh), and don't debate our criteria for granting nameplates. Please do help steer people with questions to the answers we've provided. News post with specific instructions: http://www.bungie.net/News/Blog.aspx?mode=news#cid28173 Weekly Update with the general overview: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=BWU_082010 Thanks! FAQ part 1: Q: What's the format for entering keys? A: Caps doesn't matter. Dashes do. Follow the example on the page. Q: What if I change my gamertag? A: If you simply *rename* your gamertag on your existing XBL account, that's fine. Bungie.net might not link to your game history until you play online again, (because Xbox doesn't proactively notify us about the name change) but once you play again, it'll correct itself. (It might take until overnight for your Halo 2 record to catch up with the change when we automatically sort out problems like that) Q: What if I relink my account to a different gamertag? A: See FAQ 2 below Q: How long do I have to do this? A: We haven't set a cutoff date. We might eventually set one, well past Reach launch, but that's undecided. When you consider that this "Bungie Legacy Games" data can potentially be used to similar purpose for all Bungie games into the far future (but no promises!) giving even a few month window for registering the 7-year-old Halo 1 PC game seems awfully short. There will be PC fans who might not catch the news for a long time. Q: How do I choose a nameplate? A: The same page where you register them will let you choose from all the options you've earned like Halo 3, once you've played Reach. Q: I just played Marathon XBLA and it hasn't shown up on my gamercard yet A: The gamercard comes directly from MS's servers, and they cache that data for a while. Come back in half an hour or so and try again. Also, the demo version doesn't show up on the gamercard, you need to play the full version. Some people have luck paying another game afterwards to force it to change. Q: Will I get the Halo 2 flair? A: Do we have Halo 2 data for you? (If I did that link right, then if you're signed in, it should try and bring you to your Halo 2 stats page. The link is gone from the top of the website, but the page is still there via a tab on your Halo 3 service record. If you see data for yourself, then you'll get the emblem. There was no date window for eligibility. Any games there count. Q: What about Halo 1 Xbox via Games on Demand? A: Bungie is no longer part of Microsoft and we simply do not have access to the purchase data for this game, nor does it register online. It shows up in the console's recent games list, but not your gamercard for us to see. It's out of our hands. FAQ 2: Q: What if I link my gamertag to a different Live ID? A: The unlocks will stick to your gamertag/Live account, not your Passport/LiveID account. (This is good - it means it won't break the "supercombine" you might have earned. ********************** Q: Help! It says my key has already been redeemed! ********************** A: I asked a bunch of people to PM me their keys when this happened, and guess what? Almost everyone sent me the same few keys! It looks like either people forgot they got their key on a warez site, or else accidentally bought a counterfeit copy of the game via a distributor who printed the same key with every CD they clone. If you're getting this error and wonder if it's the cause, try this experiment: paste the first two blocks of letters (XXXXX-XXXXX) into Google - does your full key come up on a Halo warez/torrent page? Bad news, it's not a legit copy. That's been the case for all the PM'ed keys I've tried. Overall, from the thousands of valid keys entered in the 16 hours the page has been up, it looks like things are running smoothly for the vast majority of users. FAQ 3: Q: I can't choose any unlocks, even though I should have some. A: There's a browser compat problem which will be fixed soon, that prevents you from seeing the buttons to unlock your nameplates. If you're in IE8, turn of compat mode (the torn-page icon by the address bar) or use another browser. [Edited on 09.21.2010 2:04 PM PDT]

 • Well you have to purchase CE for computer, not xbox. You don't get a activation code for xbox version.
Posted by: IX Vengeful IX Frankly, I'm rather Butthurt that even though I bought Halo:CE on original Xbox AND then the On Demand version, that Bungie will not accept the proof that I have bought it legit. Can I make a video of it being in my Game Library and send that off to you guys ? I feel like a disheveled Halo fan without it : /
• I noticed that someone posted on page 58 but their post did not show up (most likely an error). I doubt this is for a star emblem, but if you get a star emblem you will not be notified. (Just check your nameplates)
Posted by: superduper66 Wow, looks like page 58 is... hiding some peeps. So if you get a star nameplate, will you be notified? EDIT: was hiding peeps.
• Well unfortunately Bungie can't do anything. If you really want the nameplate, then you can buy the game again.
Posted by: Keevomeal97 I had Halo PC, but I lost my product key...
• Halo Nameplate requirements: "Unlock the emblems for Halo 1, Halo 2, *and* Halo 3 to get this special emblem reserved only for loyal Halo Trilogy fans."
Posted by: DASicari Unfortunately, I didn't purchase ODST until after Reach came out, so I was never a Reach beta tester. But do you think that has anything to do with the Halo nameplate? I didn't think Reach beta was a requirement for that?
[Edited on 03.06.2011 4:11 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: DASicari I have a question regarding the Halo nameplate. I read that the requirements are to have the Halo PC, Halo 2, and Halo 3 nameplates unlocked. I have my old gamertag (Aevron) now associated with this Windows Live ID, but for some reason the Halo nameplate does not show up. I uploaded a screenshot showing that I do have all three of the nameplates unlocked (and I am able to select and use each one in Reach), but for some reason the Halo nameplate does not show up. Does anyone have any ideas or has this happened to anyone else? I had PMed sawnose but have not received a response as of yet. http://dasicari.com/Nameplates.png
It looks like you don't have the Reach Beta Nameplate. That could be the root of your issues, considering you don't have the MC Helmet either.

 • Well if you have two gamerstags, you need to have two emails and two separate accounts. Unless you are talking changing your tag on your account. (Like spending 800 MP so change it)
Posted by: JO5EY WALE5 Many thanks, all clear now. But my Bungie.net account name and email have not changed, 'just' my gamertag. I find it a little frustrating that I can find all the info on Bungie; hense 'PROVE' that I have played it. Is it worth me pursuing this any further, if so who do I contact? From reading most of this thread it would seem Bungie is very unsympathetic to requests such as mine. A great shame as I'm so close. But I guess there's lots of other folk in the same place.......
• Okay, you have two gamerstags that you played on correct? Now you said when you type in one gamerstag you get Halo 3, Halo Reach, etc. But when your type in your old GT you only get Halo 2. (That's what I'm getting from this) This is because your gamerstag can't transfer data to another gamerstag. So if you where to make a Bugnie.net account that had your old gamerstag email/linked on it, you would be able to see your Halo 2 stats. So overall unless you start playing on your old gamerstag (profile) you wont be able to get your Halo 2 stats.
Posted by: JO5EY WALE5 Sorry, I'm still confused. So here's what I don't understand..... If I use the 'search bungie.net' box (top right) I get the 'People Finder' dialoge box. If I type in JO5EY WALE5 and choose Halo 2, I get all my old game data back. If I type in JO5EY WALE5 and choose Halo Reach, I get nothing back. If I type in JO5EY WALE5 and choose Bungie.net Profile, I get all my Halo 3, ODST and Reach data back, but no Halo 2. So if I understand this correctly, my Halo 2 records are not linked to my Bungie.net profile. So it's not the Bungie.net profile that's important, just your xbl gamertag. I thought your Bungie.net profile would be the constant as you can't ghange them.
• If your Bungie.net login email is the same as the email on your halo 2 profile then yes.
Posted by: JO5EY WALE5 Many thanks for the speedy reply. So to be really clear (I'm a bit of a numpty) you have to have the same xbox live gamertag. Having the same Bungie login doesn't count. If so i guess my only other option is to get Halo CE on the PC; to get 4 out of the 5 I need.
