Quitting Games - What did you achieve?? (Competitive Mode)

I mainly play solo so I thought i would give Competitive PvP another chance today and honestly i just don't get it. First 4 games i'm on the losing team. My problem here is not losing its only having 2 in my team including myself. So i have carried on for a few more games and now i have won a couple but the opposing team is not a full team. 4 v 2 is a loss and a heavy one normally What are you achieving by quitting games?? Ok you might salvage a bit on your K/D but your Elo is still going to get murdered and you have lost regardless. Am i missing something here?? By quitting all you are doing in my opinion is dragging other players down because you don't want to damage your K/D. Quitting after the first round when you really don't know how its going to play out is just pathetic and is bringing a you quit i quit mentality into the game. I have no idea how this can be fixed but its really sad to see this every game. I don't mind 4 v 4 yea team shot can get annoying but so what. if its a fair fight both teams can play how they like. Maybe give a score bonus to any team that sticks at it when you have less than a full team. if its 4 v 2 survival make it that the team with 2 players gets double kill points. Make it worth staying in game because at the moment you have nothing to gain by staying and quitting is not going to be punished.

  • It's Destiny PvP, who the -blam!- cares about KD or Elo?

I always play solo i never look who i play against. My experience is this: - they die from my bullets - they don't die from my bullets If i see that their bullets (1on1) do much more damage then mine, then i simply leave the match. I refuse to play some stupid bunny for the whole match. I'm not stupid to stay in a match, where the enemy sees me at least a second earlier then i see them......or when i have a feeling that i'm shooting with a water pistol. But...when i have the feeling that the enemy is simply better, they i try to play more clever and fight untill the end.

  • There are only two reasons I see for people quitting games, and this goes for ANY PVP game, not just Destiny. 1. To escape frustration of a one-sided match or 2. To preserve their KD. You cannot do ANYTHING about #1. Quite literally everyone is going to have a frustrating match and, yes, even good players quit out of frustrating matches now and then. It just happens. You had a crappy day at work and you were hoping that killing people in PVP would help cheer you up but instead you got on the wrong side of a match. I'm not excusing it, but it happens and EVERYONE here would be a hypocrite if they ever claimed that they never quit a PVP match ever. However, they CAN prevent players from quitting for the reasons in #2. How? By assigning all deaths that players incur subsequent to that player LEAVING the match to the player who left the match. This would allow the players who stay to actually pad their KD by staying and fighting and trying to get kills without suffering a hit to their KD due to being overmatched because someone else quit a match, AND it would actually work against that person's reasons for quitting in the first place - it would actually further HARM their KD. So their choice would be to stay in the match and take a legit KD hit, or leave the match and incur ALL the deaths the players who stayed behind incurred instead. Its a solution that would definitely curb those who quit out of matches for KD reasons IMO. Nothing else is going to curb these players. Temporary bans? Not going to solve it, no matter how severe they are (and there are actually limits on how severe you can make those bans, as players may have lagged out instead of simply quit out). This would. I'd love to see at least ONE game company experiment with it and see how it plays out.

    • Like most people have already said it is not about kd and things like that, its about enjoy-ability. Now, I have to say I have only play competitive to complete the initial call of arms/crucible quest, therefore I dont think I have more than 12-16 games. Maybe 1-2 of those games where enjoyable, the rest where and absolute pain to play. I also have to say that I am not enjoying crucible at the moment, and I doubt I will ever unless some major changes happen. This is the reason why I dont play it, I dont like it, now, I am sure other people here do the same thing, they play a game because they enjoy it, if, something is not enjoyable I just dont play it. And If I am playing a crucible game and I am not enjoying it (or think I wont) either because I am playing against a 4 men team or a laggy team I will leave. And since competitive seems to be the playlist (of the might 2) that pairs you up more often with 4 men team I just dont play it.

    • You can usually tell how a match is gonna go pretty soon after it starts. If I’m not going to enjoy it, I’m not going to waste my time. Some people leave immediately if there’s a full fire team on the other side. I don’t blame them. Playing with an inherent disadvantage isn’t always a good time.

I am achieving not wasting 5-10 minutes of my time in a losing game. Doing the match is usually a pretty trash reward. We are forced to do crucible for challenges, which are nearly impossible unless its at least a close match. We arent gonna kill enemies in super mode when we are barely able to kill enemies in the first place. Oh yay I am totally gonna win 3 rounds in a row when I am repeatedly put up against entire fireteams. I am SURE that wont literally take 3 hours if I decide to stay for the entire match every time.

    • Every time I play competitive it seems like at least 1 player will leave the game within the first 2 rounds and at least 1 more person leaves before the game finishes. I don't get it either.

    • Seems to be an issue this weekend with the "play with your clan" bonus going on. Not a single 4 v 4 for me today. Sad.

    • its hard to blame the players for this. the lag issues from p-p is a thing and the lack of skill based match making is another thing. I've had the entire other team leave. I won't leave if its a tough match but if it's lagging so bad I cant get a single shot to register, i bail and everyone else should to send a message to Bungie to fix their code and address the skill problem

      • It's 100 % Bungie's fault. Lopsided matchmaking as an outcome of; 1. No proper skill levels 2. No matchmaking based on group size Additionally; 1. There's no investment without skill levels. You never have to think twice before opting out. 2. The game is filled with people who only play for loot. Those people dont give a shit about the expereince or PvP in itself. It's the same mentality that resulted in Bungie getting rid of proper matchmaking in the first place - because matchmaking people of equal skill and team size will take longer and result in less loot/minute.
