Star Wars Battlefront II is a clear example community outcry CAN force a game company to change (NOT ABOUT EVERVERSE)
If you didn't knew, EA got into major controversy over it's gambling pay to win progression system in Star Wars Battlefront II. News coverage covered ths scandel, and EA was forced to give in and disable ALL microtransactions in game.
Now, if only we could do something similar here for Destiny 2...

1 ReplyThe problem here is that the destiny community doesn't just call for a change. They cry about it. Instead of saying why something is wrong or backing something up or being mature, the destiny community just goes "WHAAAA"

4 RepliesThere is nothing like that in D2. Locking content behind a massive pay wall is one thing. Making your game appeal to a casual audience isn’t even remotely the same. Being butt hurt because you don’t enjoy a game is not the same as having an abundance of micro transactions.

One minor detail missed. They [i]temporarily[/i] disabled microtransactions. Their going to be reactivating it back in that game. Most likely after all the outrage has died down

At least EA has dedicated servers and actually openly apologizes to the public for their mistakes and does something about it. That’s a whole heck of a lot more than bungie has done. 😔I just wish they would have stuck with those loyal to them from D1 instead of the casuals that would leave as soon as the next good looking game, in this case CoD WWII, came out and they jumped to that. Had they just continued from the design of D1Y3 they would have forever been better in the long run. But they won’t own up to their mistakes. 😭

In Destiny... its just a crappy set of Armor. Thats all you can get to maybe help you. But its at Power 10. So not worth the time. Only thing in Eververse thats worth it is the XP boost. But that only grants you Eververse Engrams... which, are not worth it. So right now, Destinys MTA are fine. AND the fact that now NOTHING is Power Level Advantaged (Trials is i think, I dont play it so not sure) ... makes Ever-verse selling Weapons OK. Because noone can get an advantage.

14 RepliesMate Bungie got tired of dealing with people who felt entitled in destiny 1 and thought "-blam!- this, let's make a game that just -blam!-s them off so they leave and we don't have to deal with this incessant millennial bitching. This community is toxic as -blam!-, I don't blame them for making a franchise killer. I genuinely think it was done so you'd all -blam!- off and die on someone else's game. IMO

Has said to feel generic multiplayer shooter with pretty graphics and still has a pay to win aspect if you buy the deluxe edition Blam! EA

1 ReplyHere's the real problem with that. The game was initially live with the lootboxes. So there are probably plenty of people who bought 50, 100, 200 dollars worth of lootboxes. Those people now have a distinct advantage in PvP and will have that advantage for a long, long time til players can put up 500 hours of game play to catch up. By then, the lootboxes will likely be re-instated as EA stated the reason for free DLC would be the lootboxes. This, to me, is a short term bandaid to try and save initial sales and maybe get their user ranking on metacritic up. BTW, as of right now, it's at .8 LMAO

The outcry got nothing done in the long run. The micro-transactions were only disabled not remove. There is every indication EA has every intention of enabling them again in the very near future. Therefore whatever point you had hoped to make on the ability of "communities" to force a developer to change a game or it's content is invalid. This is a horribly inaccurate example to use and you, obviously, did not properly research it enough.

6 RepliesWhat EA and Dice did was nothing like Destiny 2. A lot of people don't even see what really happened with Battlefront II. All they see is, we boycott, they fix. Not that their intention was to use one of the most popular franchises in entertainment history to entice fans to spend money to play as the most prominent characters. People should still boycott the game. If not, it's a slap on the wrist for EA.

You literally don’t need to buy silver anymore. They give you bright engrams all the time and the drop rates are great

3 RepliesI would like to point out that the previous Battlefront title turned into pay to win a few months after launch. There is absolutely nothing stopping EA from turning Battlefront 2 into pay to win later. "Disabled microtransactions" does not in any way mean "removed microtransactions".

Actually it was Disney that forced the hand. The community and EA were more or less in a deadlock. Because of seeing the outcry Disney stepped in worried that EA will ruin star wars reputation and as well as their share prices dropped $4 and continues to drop. The community actually fought enough it got Disney to want to cut off its tumor.
