I am going to get D2 on Black Friday, and I will main a warlock. My question is whether I should max out my Voidwalker or my Stormcaller.

Voidwalker was insanely useful with last week's nightfall, since you had to run around like a madman to get health back, or pop a devour. That being said, the pyramidion this week will probably favour using the stormcaller due to the better add clearing potential, but the supercharged nades from void could also add clear. Depends on the situation, as each subclass is more suited to a certain situation, and as such, the strikes, nighfalls, and raid stages can require different styles of play and subclass usage.

To me, it depends on the situation. Want to blast the hell out of things and have a health return ability? Void walker. Want to be more damage support and on add duty? Stormcaller.

Play them all and use the one you like most. They all have their benefits, especially with exotics. I like Dawnblade the most despite it not being terribly popular and do well with it in all activities.

1 ReplyI would highly recommend getting experience with both and having a gear set for each. Void is exceptional for solo tasks (like standard captures) due to its above average survivability from the devour buff. Taking the bottom skill tree essentially turns you into a tank style warlock, capable of wading inti the think of battle without fear of being overwhelmed. Devour and winter's guile is one of my favorite combinations as you can run around like a maniac punching everything in the face and laughing. Stormcaller, on the other hand, is the unmatched support build in the game. Arc soul, combined with lunifaction boots turns your rift into a monster, providing boosts to both damage output and damage sustainability. In situations like Calus shadow realm, the increases are noticeable to the point of being nearly mandatory. Top this off with one of the most solid roaming supers in the game, and the stormcaller has a solid place in any raid team. As a side, the dawnblade is an often overlooked class that few (myself included) tend to utilize. That said, the dawnblade can be deadly in certain situations. Due to their ability to dish out high damage, they are very good in dps races such as Calus or Gardens damage phases.

1 ReplyStormcaller no longer has the long range melee so it’s just a roaming super. Nothing special about it at all. Voidlock is better for pvp still.
-
1 ReplyYoull be able to try out both pretty easily as both are easy to level up. No matter what you choose though you are going to be disappointed. Arc soul stormcaller and devour voidwalker are the best but even then they are nothing compared to their power in d1.

2 RepliesEdited by puppyk1sses: 11/19/2017 11:45:07 PMStormcaller much better team support. Your rifts give everyone standing inside a little lightning orb that shoots extra shots at enemies. Way better add clearing, way better orb generation for your teammates, way better grenade. Voidwalker is good for pvp and is incredibly selfish in pve. You can spec it so you can take a lot of hits but it doesn’t synergize with group play.

3 RepliesDawnblade. Takes a lot of work and practice to get good with it, but I'm loving it now. Only works well with certain weapons though. I run better devils, stochiastic variable, and wardcliff coil
-
2 RepliesIf you are set on throwing your money away I would look at buying it used. There are a ton of copies available at Gamestop, etc...
-
Personally I'd wait to buy the game in a year or so when the game is resold with the dlc included. You'll have a much better time. If you're set on buying it now then personally I'd go for a voidwalker. The perk devour can make you insanely strong if paired with the winters guile gauntlets. At the end of the day its up to preference. The stormcaller ult is better but it takes longer to get a super in D2 so I'd go with the void since its strength is always active.

Save your money 😳

Depends on your preferences. Your preferred style of play, preferred aesthetics, and the potential builds(exotics armors, weapons, etc.) should all play a role in picking a main build. That said, subclasses are easy to acquire and level up. So play them all, get good with them all, tinker your load outs, and finally, just play whatever feels the most fun.

Devour 'lock with Winter's Guile and Riskrunner....
-
From a d1 vet, you really shouldnt. If you played d1 your heart will be broken.

1 ReplyI've been trying really hard to get good with dawnblade lately. If you use it properly you can almost spam solar grenades
-
Storm.
-
SUNSINGER! It‘s solar burn week and D1 still runs.
-
I like stormcaller for PvE for add clearing. I like Voidwalker for PvP because of the mobility that comes with blink.
-
Well they are both really good options but I'd have to say I'd give the edge to........the sunbreaker. 😂
HAMMER TIME.
-
Voidlock master race with nezarecs sin helmet plus the bottom tree that gives devour. Set up all your weapons for void damage as well and you will wreck everything.

Sunsinger

My personal advise is to go with Voidwalker first. It's only moderate for PVP but it's a wrecking ball for PVE. Devour lets you hold down the grenade button to eat the grenade and then every kill restarts the timer on devour, replenishes almost all life, and recharges grenade, charged melee kills also trigger devour, and the novabomb will absolutely splatter most things in the game. Chaos is also good, you can use a small amount of your super to super charge your grenades, which if you throw them into a crowd will probably replace all the energy you lost. This plus the sin helmet and a void sword and autorifle and you are a one man wrecking crew... Blink could still use some work...
-
You don't really have much of a choice when you start out, but all three subclasses are good & fun to play.
-
I prefer Dawnblade.
-
Voidwaker. But when you do the attunment of chaos....dont fill the last skill on the tree. ("Slowva Bomb")
