So recently I've tried looking up how Exotic engrams work and had a question. How exactly do Exotic engrams work? I currently have 3 sitting in my inventory and was wondering if it would be a good idea to hold onto em till the next expansion arrives and then open them to maybe get new Exotics? Would appreciate any help :]

So, if you get an exotic engram at level 270 and wait until you reach level 290 to open it, the item you get from it will still be at level 270. And holding onto the engram until the new dlc comes out in December won't do you any good either... the item will still be from the first season (i.e., what's available in the game right now). Hope the information helps.

You can preview the contents of exotic and bright engrams. The potential items that come from those engrams are shown in the preview of it.
