Can Ascendant Hive "Possess" Guardians/Humans

Reading lore on Savathun and the Hive. Eris Morn has them neato 3 eyes and I read her Destinypedia bio.. Folks on Reddit amuse that she is Savathun, some talk it down. My question is what if Savathun possessed Eris Morn from her Ascendant realm somehow? Chick just leaves conveniently before Guinea pigs wax the Tower... Maybe that green ball she was peaking on was her connection to that Ascendant realm? How does she have the power to yank our nasty asses outta Crota's Soul crystal room?

  • Guardians are made of the Traver's light. The traveler's light can't be controlled. Guardian without the light is just another animal.

The tomb husk she carries does allow her to hear what’s happening with the hive. She left the tower around the age of triumph to figure out a way we could permanently defeat the hive and see what other powers remain. No doubt when savathun makes a move on the light, eris will be there to help. Oh and she learned how to get us out of the throne room from Toland.

Savathun however may have made a bargain with Eris to ensure her survival or Ransomed her Ghost in exchange for being her..."Eyes". Possibility I suppose but I will wait to see. Oryx Did demand that we submit to his will but he could not 'take' us and even though Savathun may have become stronger I doubt she has it in her. Her minions however where able to rip the light out of guardians and use it as a power source which is obviously different but still a formidable atrocity. I do FULL EXPECT at some point to fight other guardian(s) due to some how and at somepoint being TRICKED by the Hive God of Trickery. ...A perfect point for a 2nd Faction War wouldn't you say? Or worse being tricked into killing Eris or something. Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot... Also Super excited to see a huge expansion of the Pacific Arcology on Titan at some point as well. I want to see more of that area. It looks quite Frumious in that place and I want more.

    • Nope, that would make them an actual threat.

    • No, even the Hive gods can't actively possess someone. What they CAN do is plant ideas in their head, whispers and mutters that you will think are your ideas. But Eris knows about these and how to block them out.

    • Interesting question, and a good one too. Nothing as precise and total as possessing a guardian, but they certainly can poison them; taint and twist their thoughts and interests until the guardian is nothing like they were before. The Weapons of Sorrow are perfect examples of this. Thorn turned a paragon hero into a murderous nightmare, and the Eidolon Ally began a similar process with our guardian. Wizards in particular have displayed formidable abilities in the form of curses and death rites, through which they can influence guardians not only physically but with lasting mental and character changes as well. Oryx was able to "take" beings and twist them into new shapes, but that isn't a Hive power; rather something that he stole or learned from another power. Additionally, was he not able to wield this power against guardians directly (probably due to the direct power of the Traveler within them).

      • Hive don't possess others so by default that answer would be no.
