Horizon Zero Dawn DLC..... How Destiny 2 should have been

Playing HZD again with the new DLC. It is amazing, open world - I mean real open world. Enemy encounters are strategic and you can attack in ANY play style you want! Don't fell like getting the big machine right now ... go stealth and move on. Want the good stuff from that machine? Find a Height advantage and unload.. Man this game is near perfect Sound, Graphics, Story and game play BUNGIE you should sometimes play other games as well and learn how it is done. Learn from Guerrilla Games and make D3 like HZD open world no restrictions and playing the way the user wants. Edit 1: So just to be clear, my comparison was about the general game and not single vs multiplayer. For example in HZD you can discard/shred multiple resources in one go! Yes guys there are games that allow you to shred 10 or 100 things in one go ! Progression, increase of power. The longer you play the stronger you get, sounds logic right ? More XP ? Old gaming concept... HDZ does it perfect - and D2 ??? I have to shoot 1000 bullets into a low tier enemy regardless if I'm level 0 or level 500. Side quests are important - to your power leveling and storyline (though not all). In D2? None of the adventures or quest to matter at all.

  • The total play area for The Frozen Wilds feels bigger than all of Destiny 2's planets combined lol pathetic. $15 dlc > $60 base game

You can tell just how much time and effort when into creating both the full game and the dlc for HZD. The developers truly cared about what they were creating. The same cannot be said for D2, which feels just like a watered down version of D1.

        • I love HZD... so far its the best game of this generation for me... but comparing 3rd person and 1st person games gets tricky. They are attempting to do different things with these perspectives, and an open-world game that is strictly 3rd person and single player is able to do things that 1st person OWG can not. I hear you when you say that you want Destiny to be more like HZD, but i think you should really try to make your comparrison to another FPS openworld game. At the moment, i can really only think of Far Cry as a truly open world FPS. Skyrim and Fallout can toggle between 1st and 3rd, so they are kind of out of the equation. And while you can play in 3rd person in destiny, its only with a sword or whilr in your super, so its not really an option unless you do specific things. Basically, D2 or D3 will never be an HZD... one major reason being that Guerilla is owned by Sony and they are given all the support needed to develop an amazing game, and will delay it if its not at a high standard. Bungie, on the other hand, is owned by themselves but have a very entagling relationship with their publisher, who is more interested in making money than strengthening the brand. If Sony makes good games, you will buy their hardware. So, Sony has more invested in making a really good exclusive than Activsion has invested in making another Lowest-Common-Denomenator experience.

            • Agreed, amazing game, story and open world, wish Bungie could take the whole thing an reskin for D3. Simple thing like a map, just image having all these planets and areas to discover progressively. Anyway, this a great game and Bungie should learn from them in terms of story and open world interactions, not to mention hunting grounds, I love a good challenge.

            • Holy shit dude, the amount of "apples to oranges" comments is insane. Yes, one is single player adventure, one is MMO lite looter shooter. The point being made to begin with is that Devs need to develop the way Guerilla did, or CD Projekt Red did. Pack the game with content. Make the game with lots of passion and with the gamer in mind. Have a vision to make something awesome. Do that before you go planning years worth of DLC and microtransactions to pad your greedy ass wallet. It should be about putting time and years into making a quality game, not rushing half ass content for a deadline and charging full price for something that sucks or is incomplete. Furthermore, the two games are more alike than anyone has dared to point out. They have open worlds. They have side quests. They have leveling systems and character progression. They have gear and inventory. They have skill points. They have NPCs and story lines. They have RPG style elements in both games. But whereas I actually gave a shit about the story and side stories in HZD, Destiny's was shallow and generic. Whereas you feel powerful the more you progress in HZD, Destiny's leveling system is apparently just for fun cuz it doesn't do a fxckin thing. Whereas I actually want to explore HZD's open world, I could give a fxck all about running into another "lost sector" just to super a yellow bar and open a chest that doesn't give you shit. Whereas in HZD the NPCs actually do something, even if it's cool or dumb or whatever, I've been watching Devrim Kay line up a sniper shot for months now and not do shit. Yes. Destiny is a "shared world shooter" and probably coined that term for the future. But it was supposed to be the "Star Wars" of gaming, and it's not, and won't be. Because all it did was take small systems from other games (Borderlands loot-shooter, MMO raids and team play, RPG open worlds and leveling) and do every one of them half assed. So if this game is gonna be considered anything like an RPG with Exp points and skill trees and character progression and open worlds? You better fxckin believe I'm comparing it to the games that knock those elements outta the park. Better believe I'm gonna compare it to Witcher 3 and HZD and any other RPG inspired game. Because even though Bungie nails what they do best (FPS gameplay), they have a LOT to learn about what makes an Open World fun to explore. They have a lot to learn about makes skill trees and character progression deep and rewarding. And if they were smart, they'd look to the oranges to figure out how to fix their fxcking apple.

              • And then if Bungie does "learn" and make new games like these other developers they'll be called copiers and what not and then people will will call them super lazy. There's no winning for Bungie because we don't let them win. We find the smallest little things to complain about even after they fix it. It's ridiculous.

                  • Well your not really comparing apples to oranges HOWEVER , it’s only 20$ and add 15-20 hrs of single player gameplay. What’s the curse of Osiris 30$ ? And what let me guess will get a few missions and a new strike and multiplayer map. Destiny will prove to be a bad value in the sea of dlcs ... Sucks ...

                      • You mean you want to feel the same way about Destiny 2, like you do about HZD. Comparing the games is pointless, but wanting to feel good playing them both makes more sense.

Honestly the DLC is crap, not impressed at all. No restrictions? What version are you playing? 9.3Gb and they only add 2 new enemies, and a new form of corruption. 3 new weapons and 3 new armour sets that aren't any better than my old ones armour. And 8 new skills that should have always been there. So if you're so unrestricted show me how you finish the game and not have it reset back to before the final battle!

                          • I can’t compare those two games because they are so drastically different. At his point just compare Destiny to CoD as that’s where it’s headed.

                            • They don't even compare? Not in the same category. Compare like with like. There's no coop, no pvp, no strikes no raid. About the only thing comparable are the hunting grounds, but still it's solo. And in vanilla her hair waved too much!

                              • I agree with the open world part. I also think most players might agree that HZD is an exceptional game, but it's not a fair comparison to Destiny. It's single person action rpg. If I was to use an fps dlc as a good example I would choose Halo 5. All dlc for free with microtransactions making that possible. That way no one is left out because the community is divided.
