BUNGIE FANBOYS IN A NUTSHELL

Can i just say that before you read the following text that this was not my post but i totally agree with what the original poster said so i have copied and pasted it as it outlines the state of gaming as it stands and just how pathetic fanboys are at defending broken or poor quality games.. This isn't a salty post or a bungie-luv post either. It's a serious question about the mentailty of consumers today. I noticed this division on the forum of people either accepting the product as it is or others calling out the maker for faults that clearly and/or assumingly exist. What's odd is that the "accepters" acknowledge some of the faults, they know there are problems, but not only accept them, they defend them! Even go as far as giving the excuses for the maker of the product. As an active commission only sales person for decades, I would have loved these types of consumers! They never existed though. At least I never came across them. If I ever sold an inferior, faulty, or falsely advertised product I'd either loose the customer, refund, exchange, or something. Look, when an automaker makes a car, they won't advertise the seatbelts. We assume they are with the car. We don't expect to pay extra for them as an add on later. Also, if the previous model had lights, windshield wipers, and wheel, it's assumed those would be on the new car as well. We also assume that after making a previous model or models, the newer version will have advancements and be fine tuned from the previous model. Problems from before would be no issue anymore. If the maker advertised, said, or in some way conveyed the car would get 40 mpg, we'd expect to get at least 40 mpg. If we buy the car and only get 30 mpg, there would be a class action lawsuit and recall (true story). I can't imagine a new car owner saying, "...well the last model was faulty too and it took them three years to get to fixing the several issues my car had. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt again, and this time let them get to the dozen of issues with this newer model over the next three or four years. Maybe the next model will be better! I'll preorder once again." Most normal, logical, sensible people would never give that automaker another look. Seriuosly, I can not imagine that anyone on these forums would accept poor service at a restaurant, lousy customer service at a store, willingly be okay with a faulty mattress purchase, or anything of the sort. I understand this is just a game, but there is still a point here. When did people start becoming so compliant? Just accepteing the slop plopped in front of them? These "accepters" are called "lay downs" in the sales business. Can you imagine the spouses they settled for? The cars they drive? I'm just imagining them sounding like Eeyore with their gloomy, depressed, anhedonic retorts of "that's the way it is." I honestly think it comes down to this. Sometimes we fight with ourselves, and defend ourselves from others, for being so stupid as to fall for the same trick. We don't want to look stupid, so we devoutly defend our decision. The "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." is a tough pill to swallow Destiny has lied to gamers from day one and yet still gamers try to defend it, its time for real gamers to make a stand and no more pre order titles, it is destroying the games we loved.

I've bought houses. I've bought multiple cars. I even turned a lawyer loose on a guy who tried to screw me over in a real estate deal. Ruined his entire year.... I'm nobody's sucker. As that jackass found out the hard way. What I am is an informed consumer who walks into a deal with reasonable expectations for what my money can buy, and has done his homework on what he's buying has to offer. I don't expect anyone to nurture me or hold my hand in a purchase or other business deal. The typical gamer is the exact opposite. He buys a game thinking his KIA money entitles him to Ferrari service. He's an impulse-buyer and fantasy-buyer who doesn't even bother to read the product brochure before spending his money. Then when the product fails to be what he's imagined even though it is exactly what the dealer said to expect, they Rage like a junkie jonesing for their next fix. Blaming everyone for lying and taking advantage of them, while taking no responsibility for their own actions. Bungie hasn't lied to anyone. They've been desperately trying to tell people how this game would be different from Destiny 1. But in typical gamer fashion, imagination-is-reality and people didn't -blam!-ing listen.

Welcome to the software industry. Dude, do you not remember when video games were no refunds if the packaging had been opened? That all software developers lie through their teeth about everything having to do with their projects? Do you not remember the famous Canada Bill Jones quote about playing a crooked game of cards? "Yeah, but it's the only game in town!"

    • Ehhhthis post is way off. Consumers do put up with things. There are fan kids for almost every product out there. Truly not to turn this into a console war, but the topic is gaming.... Microsoft: Rrod on Xbox 360? 65% consumer use of the warranty, admitted 100% design flaw... still have fans. Kinect? Way over hyped and straight out lies on capabilities, went on to sell 24 million and never delivered.. still have fans. Xbox one and the cloud. Hyped to deliver 4x the power of the Xbox one via the cloud... straight up lie. Microsoft first party studious have not made a new AAA ip for over 6 years, yet touts the best lineup of exclusives almost every year this gen.... My point, Xbox still has fans. Consumers still buy it and ignore all of the glaring issues with said company... And yet destiny has been bashed since day one and I just listed more issues with another company than this game has... My point, people can like this game. Your opinion is your opinion out of millions of gamers. Can they admit it has flaws but yet still love the gameplay? Yes. Does this game deliver on what is important in gaming? 100%. I never heard anyone do this much crying for titanfall for deliver next to nothing. Why this game? Why does this game have to be attacked for every issue that exist in so many other games? Then to try and to call out people that have a positive view of this game as if you are the god of gaming is absurd. You do not like it, move on. That simple.

      • It's a $60 video game.....why put this much thought into it. Sure, I don't play D2 near as much at the rate I played D1, but who cares? It's a video game, not a car, not a mattress, and certainly not a spouse. Don't compare a video game purchase to real life experiences.
