Who wins? I'm talking about three levels of competition here. Ground Forces, Naval, Empire. Now Empire does include superweapons and the like. So the Almighty vs the Dreadnaught, the psions vs the wizards, the gladiators vs the knights. Cabal tank vs Ogre.

1 ReplyThe Hive win because they have gods Crota and Oryx would crush Ghaul and Calus

Hive no contest. They have their sword realms to retreat into and reform in, plus they have physics-defying power, teleportation, and the ability to grow stronger with every kill. They also have superior numbers The Cabal may have amazingly advanced and sturdy technology as well as unbreakable discipline, but the Hive are on a whole other level of killing. Both species have annihilated countless species, but the Cabal’s count is smaller and younger This isn’t even counting the Hive gods like Oryx and Crota, who would go completely uncontested against the Cabal

Edited by TotalDramaGamer: 11/4/2017 6:59:01 AMTo me, this is a poor platform to decide 'who wins'. If you ever played Starcraft... this is like comparing the Zerg to the Terrans individually. By individual stats, the Terrans should always win. By tactics and synergy... Zerg win all the time, it seems. For instance, comparing gladiators to knights. At first glace the gladiators would win. But, honestly, when is it ever going to be just knights verses just gladiators. Not only could a knight summon a shield to defend against a powerful rocket (or tank blast) it can also regen health AND go into a rage mode. This, IMO, is much much much more versatile than a Gladiator, who has little to no real protection against heavy weapons or bombardment, such as boomers or Ogres. They also do not have a health regen ability at all. So, individually, the Gladiators win. But tactically, a gladiator would need to charge a Hive line... and that would end poorly for them even with their mobility due to all the initial fire. Not to mention you have thrall all over the place all the time. In a melee scenario, you're never without thrall. That's the first thing gladiators would have to cut through if they charged a Hive line, and then the Knights beckoning their challenge. There's a whole slew of ways you could turn tactics and strengths against one another. This would be more of a stat comparison than a 'who would win' scenario. Besides... Obviously Oryx would just take them. I would also assume that Oryx has a much better understanding of the Darkness than Calus could ever hope for. But that's purely the subjective view of one writer who can basically determine who wins at will with any sort of twist.

Edited by Lozepath: 11/4/2017 6:48:47 AM
Cabal all the way. Superior firepower, superior troop combat readiness, and superior tactics. Ogres ain't jack to a Cabal super heavy tank colum. Thralls ain't jack to incinerator squads and Gladiators. Knights ain't jack to Colossians (minigun/railgun, and superior size and strength) Wizards ain't jack to Psion sniper teams. Tomb ships ain't jack compared to Harvesters and Threshers. Hive naval forces ain't jack to Cabal naval forces/ Cabal super heavy artillery that is capable of literally shooting into space. Cabal specialize in brute strength, there's no way the hive could topple them short of having Oryx Take them. Actually, there's no race that would be capable of besting the Cabal in open warfare. The Vex would have to adapt and build purpose built war chassis and purpose built weaponry, the Fallen would have to rely on guerilla tactics, the Hive would have to resort to Oryx Taking them. No one does open warfare better than the Cabal.
1 ReplyWarning, LONG post
So, let's assume that the Cabal and the Hive are all on neutral ground, neither on any kind of captured planets. In terms of ground troops, on paper the average Cabal is physically stronger than the average Hive, and better trained. Thralls are lowly, untrained cannon fodder, attacking in swarms to overwhelm. The Cabal know that from their research on the Dreadnaught. They would use crushing ranged tactics, like the low-orbit missile strikes used during Public Events, and refrain from foot troops. The Hive Tombships are inferior in terms of combat potential compared to the Harvesters and other Cabal combat ships, so those are mostly out of the question. In spite of this, the Hive's magic could potentially be used to take ships out of the air. On the ground, a large force of basic Legionaries could be overwhelmed by Thrall, but crowd control-style Colossi or Incendiors in conjunction with explosive-wielding Centurions would mow through crowds to eventually wear the Thralls and Acolytes down. The Hive would need to send down their higher troops (Knights, Wizards) and they would provide fierce resistance to the Cabal. However, the Cabal's superior mobility and sniping power from the Psions positioned far out of the action would ultimately prevail. The Hive send down their most powerful Wizards and Abomination Ogres, and tear through the remaining Cabal troops. The mostly crowd-control based Colossi wouldn't be able to deal enough consistent damage to the Ogres to kill them, and the Wizards would stay behind them, casting spells from afar. The Incendiors might manage to take one of the Ogres down, but it would infuriate the others and spell their doom. Eye Beams would cut through them and the highly mobile Centurions. The Cabal would call in more heavy strikes from ships if available, but would ultimately need to send down their more powerful units. Heavy Tanks and Cabal Primus-level Centurions and Colossi would shred the unarmored Ogres and Wizards. Provided that Oryx is still alive, this battle can go 2 massively different directions. If Oryx stays on the Dreadnaught, he simply Takes all of the exposed ground troops as soon as possible. Alternatively, Oryx himself descends onto the battlefield in his smaller form (Regicide) to join the fight. Either way, Oryx wins. Ghaul comes down and loses to Oryx, being either Taken or killed. Or, this takes place after Ghaul and Oryx are both dead, and the Cabal steamroll the remaining Hive. I don't know if the Almighty is a fair comparison to the Dreadnaught because the Dreadnaught isn't exclusively a weapon. It has a powerful weapon with high destructive capability, but it pales in comparison to the Almighty's sun destruction.
Oryx could just take them if we include dead hive and cabal. While cabal also have rocket spamming strike boss, Oryx can just take them. In TTK he took the strongest ranking cabal soldier in the system at that time. Even so, there is a new hive god and/or taken king/Queen that can take others. So hive would win.

2 RepliesOryx solos the cabal in nano seconds. Oryx can take entire galaxies in nano seconds, destroy galaxies with a swing of his sword. Crush planets with his hands. And more
