New Update stuck on Initializing

Basically the title. I went to do the new update and it's just frozen on initializing. Haven't seen anyone else with this issue yet so I'm not to sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. PC btw.

  • Three days and counting now, this is shocking from a triple a title. Won't be touching anything else from bungie after this.

  • So many different solutions and I feel like waiting is the only option. Currently going through this myself and I noticed a red-flag before this even started happening. I noticed that my Destiny 2 update wasn't really... MOVING, so I paused and started the update. The bar SHOT UP. I did this a few times until there was only a BARELY NOTICABLE sliver left to download. Now it's stuck on initializing.

  • This worked for me: Close Battle.net Rename Destiny 2 folder Launch Battle.net Change folder name back to Destiny 2 Install the game from Battle.net - it will take a bit to check files but will then resume

    • I had this problem for about 1 hour then it just installed. Nothing I did seem to change anything but here is what I did - keep it downloading (initializing) and DONT pause, close the battlenet client completely and end all tasks in the task manager for blizzard. Then move your destiny folder to your desktop, relaunch battlenet and restart the download again, wait for it to start downloading (Not initializing), Force close battlenet AGAIN (Don't pause) move the folder back to where your install location is and open battlenet again and it should resume where you left off. - When you launch battlenet after you moved it I just forced closed it again becasue it want to install the game again then I just moved it back to the install location hope this helps.

      • Had the same issue. In task manager, end Blizzard Update agent. That should do it.

Found a fix, go into your task manager and end the battle net updater. Let the updater restart and it should come right.

        • I had the same problem. Tried ending the Agent.exe process from Task Manager, restarting Blizzard, and restarted PC and no go. After waiting about 30min (really probably only 5min) it finished up. Should probably just let it sit.

            • I tried a few things from the other suggests and maybe all you do have to do -is- wait without doing anything else.. but here's what worked for me: Uninstall battle.net app. Reinstall app. Load game. Update will stay on 'Initialising' for maybe 3-5min and will then start 'Finalizing'. Finalizing process takes a minute if that.

                  • Been stuck in inizilaizing for the past 30 mins. Restarted app, restarted computer, messed with download settings... at this point I've given up playing Destiny tonight, which sucks as I was looking forward to playing tonight...

                    • Same problem, i have the feeling it's their servers, would explain why it randomly started to work for some and not even restarting helps.

                    • Same here. Cleaned the temp cache in ProgramData, killed all agents manually, restarted, no luck. Seems like their server is overloaded and is throttling downloads, but reporting it as "Initialising" since it's unable to establish a connection.
