Arcstrider: Way of the Warrior seems really overrated

I totally get the niche behind melee > dodge > melee > dodge spam. It's fun to do and it's kinda silly so it's entertaining. Problem : This only works on shit tier mobs. In any difficult content (Nightfall or the raid) the melee is insufficient to one-shot mobs. If this combo is only useful against mobs that literally fall over to 1-2 shots from your worst weapon anyway, then that doesn't justify the hype behind this path. Way of the Wind seems like the *obvious* way to go for actual content you have to fight to win at. I get that warrior also causes our super to do better "cleave" damage with the arc aftershocks as well, but it seems insignificant in the case where 1-2 swings as you're bouncing around a room of adds tends to carve up and kill mobs in the multiples anyhow, regardless of which path you are. At the end of the day, I just don't get why you'd pick warrior over wind in actual content that matters.

  • Arc strider is a watered and dumbed down version of the arc blade. It's a damn shame, even though I didn't main a hunter in D1 I absolutely loved playing the arc blade. In D2 the arcstrider is slow, no invisible, no blink, weak grenades, super is pretty damn lame. I'm talking PVP of course.

  • To me Arcstrider is an utter mess. It seems like they wanted to make an entire subclass based upon Kung Fu movies but not actual Kung Fu. For Warrior, Combination Blow needs to scale in damage like having a built-in Winter's Guile. This would make the whole Dodge/Melee flow absolutely brutal in high level content with a skilled player. For Wind, Lightning Reflex is how all Dodges should work anyway and it should instead function more like Blink. Focus Breathing should also apply to all abilities, not just Dodge. Simple changes to bring it up to par.

    • I've been trying to argue this fact with people for weeks. Way of the warrior is utterly useless in high level content. AKA if you get close enough to melee an enemy in the prestige raid/nightfall they will kill you. Also it makes it even worse when it takes like 7 melees to kill a regular cabal, it takes about the same number of shots with a gun and you don't have to endanger yourself.

    • It does more damage if you keep the aftershock timer up. Health regen Dodge regen after melee kill

    • Every class has a sub-class that is a bit meh, I miss the skill customization of D1 the paths are too restrictive.

    • I use it for reloading weapons without losing time, tempo or momentum. Works great for reloading power weapons without needing to remove yourself from the fight and the damage and range increase lets you clean up weakened majors that your fireteam has been shooting or let’s you get a hit to prevent a shield regen on those annoying captains and centurions that constantly run away. There’s plenty of use in the right fireteams. Plus the heal on the charged melee is a big deal since Bungie screwed hunters for recovery.

        The only thing Arcstrider needs is a boost to mobility when the super is active. Even in D1 Melee based attacks where always risky when playing in Prestige and Nightfall type events. Any other buffs could probably be build into Exotic items.

        • Your melee damage gets doubled after the first kill for 20 seconds. Allowing you to 2-3 melee kill knights.
