Grimoire cards indicate that Osiris was a Sunsinger, and the Dawnblade subclass was first discovered when we regained our powers. I've thought of multiple possibilities:
1) the Dawnblade subclass has been around for a long time, our guardian just happened to be a Sunsinger instead in D1(this also gives the possibility of more than one subclass for each element in each class)
2) Dawnblade is an extension of Sunsinging and is this possible for Osiris to perform.
3)Osiris, in his time in the Vex network, looked into the future and saw our use of the Dawnblade
4) Sunsinger has been completely retconned out of the lore and has always been Dawnblade.

Edited by Heidran: 11/6/2017 10:17:59 PMAny of these make sense. I’m leaning toward #3

He’s a chicken. Cluck. Cluck.

You're asking for some kind of logic or continuity to come out of the narrative team. Good luck with that.
-
3 RepliesWell would you prefer to have seen Osiris self res or use Dawnblade in the trailer? I prefer to not see him die then self res imo. He looks awesome with Dawnblade.

Sunsingers are dead.
-
More gaps in the lore? Surly not
-
I miss sunsinger for PvE. One of my favorite builds was Sunbreaker gauntlets and chucking solar grenades everywhere until the entire fire team was dropping frames
-
I think 2 would be the best theory. 4 is just plain wrong because Ikora references Sunsingers in the flavor text for Stormcaller as well as the respective mission
-
Time travel explains everything.
-
I think the answer is 4
-
Or....the Vex altered something in the past. Thus all the things Guardians learned from harnessing the Light and turning it into subclasses changed. *sips coffee* Just a thought...
-
2 RepliesI think we can all agree on it then.
warlock master race confirmed
Osiris was known to be primarily a Sunsinger in D1, but a Guardian can train himself/herself to use any other subclass or ability of their Class. You’re option 1 is correct, and Sunsinger has probably been around for a long time and only just became a popular Super to use amongst Guardians somewhere between D1 and D2 The Dawnblade was not first seen when we recovered our Light in D2, and was honestly most definitely invented by a Guardian other than ourselves So Osiris simply decided to be smart and learn how to use his Light in more various ways. He’s still sticking to primarily solar though

Because Bungie employs shelf stackers instead of qualified writers and developers!
-
It really does not matter why, although occam's razor would suggest that 4 is the most likely,
-
16 RepliesBecause Bungie was desperate to get rid of self-revive.

Dawn blade is absolute garbage. It's. Or a tenth as useful as sinsinger was
-
Edited by Aqua: 11/3/2017 6:34:24 AMNumber 4 is impossible. Sunsinger is still in the lore. It's mention in both Stormcaller mission and lore description. That trailer was weak.

1 ReplyCause nobody told him it sucks.

Guardians apparently can change beetween subclasses in the lore too.. for example in one of the first trailers for D2 Ikora was a stormcaller but in the opening cinematic Ikora is a voidwalker and this is proven in the very first mission also where she throws a Nova Bomb in the Cabal ship.. Also in the Zavala origin trailer for Destiny 2 Zavala is clearly a Striker but in the opening cinematic and in the first mission Zavala is a defender and pops a bubble.. Also it is not stated in game that Dawnblade is a subclass that we first discovered when we gained our powers.. It could be an allready existing subclass as happened with the Sunbreakers Nightstalkers and StormCallers in D1 ( all pre-existing subs ) ..
-
I think number 2 is most likely, as both are different applications of the same thing. Sunsinging could be the defensive variant of dawnblade, the "intro" or "apprentice" level usage of solar energy, which explains why it was so passive in the first game. That said, I hope that the self-rez doesn't make a reappearance in D2 because it was mandatory for all pve that I participated in, which I found to be boring.

2 RepliesI wonder if Kabr was a Sentinel. He’s the one who made the VOG relic by absorbing an Oracle, and the VOG relic is a shield.
-
2 RepliesDawnblade is listed as being an "ancient" subclass that everyone forgot. The shard is old and remembered apparently. There are two reasons why Osiris is a Dawnblade and not a Sunsinger. 1. Sunsinger class does not exist in Destiny 2. 2. Daybreak is more visually impactful than Radiance.

Can I find one reply with evidence and not with a ounce of salt?
-
2 RepliesEdited by Ace of Knaves: 11/1/2017 4:14:35 PMTwo is the most probable cause when you think about it all three of the new subclasses are just a more advanced version of sunsinger, bladedancer and Defender.
