PC Crashing A Lot, Cant seem to fix it.

First My Rig -GeForce GTX 660 Ti -Driver Version 388.00 -Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz -7.99GB Ram -Monitor 1920-1080 60Ghz The crashes happen at random, I could be playing for a hour, sometimes a hour and a half, sometimes twenty minutes. The PC will do one of two things when it crashes 1. Black screen and make a grinding noise from the audio source before losing connection to the output source. Even unplugging the chords and plugging them back in wont bring the monitor back to life. 2. Similar to the first situation however the sound keeps playing as if nothing happened and then it cuts out before I lose signal The only way to get my PC to live again is to unhook it from the wall or shut it off with a long hold of the power button as CTRL ALT DEL does nothing. Now let me rule out some of the arguments that Im going to predict will pop up. 1. Your CPU or GPU are overheating-- ---While at first I honestly did think this was the case, I redusted the PC, played with the case open, ran HWMonitor as I played. ect ect. I noticed while observing HW Monitor that my GPU came nowhere close to overheating every time it crashed on me. Capping at about 78C on one attempt. the CPU however did get a little hotter then i would like, Capping at 68C during one attempt, (Even though everyone I've consulted said I shouldn't be worried about that number because Intel Processors are apparently known for running hotter then normal) while usually floating around 59-64C. However here is where i start to suspect that Overheating isn't the issue. There are no warning signs prior to the PC crashing, no studders audio or visual wise, no degrade in quality, no sudden louder then normal whirs coming from my fans in a attempt to cool the hot CPU and or GPU, even when it crashes the fans go on as if nothing has changed. Also I run the game at a smooth 60FPS and when its unlocked I get a frame rate that hops around 90-120FPS depending on where I am. Also there have been three distinct times this has happened to me and all of which happen within the same block of space, the two first instances only becoming passable by what i assume is pure luck. I crashed several times on the first mission, each time happening between the time where your ghost notices youve lost contact to Zavala and Holliday and you run up the slight slope into the open doorway, right at the doorway the crash would happen each time until it just didn't, no changes to my settings or anything. Second time was on Titan, after you get to what im assuming is the second checkpoint, there is that first hole in what would have otherwise been a straight chained walkway up and out of the area where you come out of after smashing all the eggs. At this jump on the walkway each time it would crash. Until it didnt. This final time, and this is where ive given up, Its on Titan again. At the jump that would have you land on the first platform where the first jammed Piston is it crashes every-time while in air, shortly after the initial jump. Now this last time is the one that was interesting to me. As usual I had HWMonitor up and i had only been in game for less then Two minutes before it crashed. This time however my GPU was around 50C and my CPU like 56C. It didnt even have a chance to overheat if that was the problem, ontop of that this always happens within the same blocks of space. Well maybe your PC is just garbage you may say. . . . It kind of is a old piece of junk but thats beside the point. The game runs just fine, incredible actually. like I said earlier there are not even any warning signs when it happens, it just happens and then I wind up fighting that same spot. Also for refrence here are some other games I play that dont give me any problems (even on the higher end settings for each) Overwatch Fallout 4 Fortnight Paragon Dark Souls 3 Warframe (as a side note, as im typing this my CPU is floating around 65C and if it was overheating it would have died a good bit ago considering I just got done playing Overwatch for like 2 hours.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As this is my first PC im not to sure whats going on and Im starting to lean on this problem being more on Destiny 2 then my PC, or maybe some confliction somewhere I honestly dont know. All I can say is that im almost positive im not overheating and it isnt my hardware in-itself being unable to preform the task. Its just really disheartening, I double dipped so If it doesnt get fixed i have a fall back on my PS4, Its just a shame i spent 60$ on something that feels like im using a scratched rental from blockbuster or something like that. Any help would be appreciated NOTE- Yes ive updated recently and the final crash noted above actually happened after the recent update. No my CPU isnt overclocked.

  • My game would freeze / crash when I would ALT + TAB or Choose a destination and also during cut-scenes. After much research, I remembered when I had another game that would do this so I gave this a try.. Installed EVERY .NET framework that windows 10 would let me install... https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/framework If not using windows 10 then install the Direct X https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 ALL the visual C++ packages that your OS will let you install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads And for a FINAL NOTE... Make sure you go into your bios settings on your motherboard and DISABLE your on-board video card if you have one... I was freezing and crashing quite frequently and after I did all this, I can now ALT+TAB with no problems so far and have not froze or crashed during cut-scenes or DESTINATION traveling. hope this helps others......
