[PC] Destiny 2 Random Crashes

Anyone else getting random crashes while playing? I've been playing today and it's happened 3 times already and is getting quite annoying. If anyone else is, has Bungie addressed the issue or do you know a work around for the time being? PC specs CPU: i7 4790K GPU: GTX 970 RAM: 32GB OS: Windows 10 Edit: I found a possible fix for Windows 10 users, find Destiny.exe, right click, select properties and then go to compatibility. From there, make sure 'Disable fullscreen optimisations' is selected and 'Override high DPI scaling behaviour, Scaling performed by' is also selected and set to application. This so far has stop my crashes, however I've yet to test this fully, so it may not even work.

  • Same issue as everyone else here. :-( CPU: I7 2600k (not overclocking) RAM: 16GB GPU: GTX 1080ti OS: Windows 10 (10.0.18362 Build 18062) Destiny2: current patch HDD: SSD all Driver up to date crashes a Windows error message and the game has only sound in the background. The game must be closed by Task Manager and I need to fix it, but the Blizzard Manager finds no mistake. Then I can play days without problems again .... Pls Fix this Bug :-D

  • Same issue as everyone else here. i7 5930k GTX 980 X2 SLI 16GB RAM Windows 10 tried the fix OP suggested, didn't work. Honestly debating whether I should just quit this game as it's become borderline unplayable. Seems to happen anytime I'm doing something important like the raid or nightfall

  • Yep, still happening. I thought for sure the recent patch would fix this. Losing faith in Bungie quickly

  • I'm getting a blue screen every time it crashes. The error is like system service exception or something. Happens everyday and still no fix. Not sure what to do.

    • My game would freeze / crash when I would ALT + TAB or Choose a destination and also during cut-scenes. After much research, I remembered when I had another game that would do this so I gave this a try.. Installed EVERY .NET framework that windows 10 would let me install... https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/framework If not using windows 10 then install the Direct X https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 ALL the visual C++ packages that your OS will let you install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads And for a FINAL NOTE... Make sure you go into your bios settings on your motherboard and DISABLE your on-board video card if you have one... I was freezing and crashing quite frequently and after I did all this, I can now ALT+TAB with no problems so far and have not froze or crashed during cut-scenes or DESTINATION traveling. hope this helps others......

    • Same Problem for me. I can play about 1 hour and then the game freezes and after about 10secs it closes completely and says "Destiny2 has stopped working". And sometimes it says something like "Data could not be synchronized. Please close the Game and Scan and Repair it". This is really annoying when you play alone and you cant rejoin like you could when you're in a fireteam. I've lost so much time because of these crashes. Also my fps suffers after a few minutes of playing. After a new start of the game its so smooth, I wish it could be like that all the time. I tried scanning and repairing the game but it always says "No repair needed" after the scan. I reinstalled the game. Next thing im gonna do is delet this CVARS.xml but i doubt that this would help because after the reinstallation it should be a fresh file anyways. • this is unbelievable. The game's unplayable. I can't start a single activity within the game because I'm afraid I'll crash mid way. I have some adventures I've had to redo several times due to these crashes.

              • Was told to try running as admin. Started up, through the portal on the way to the shard of the traveller. As soon as I get close to the first image of Cayde-6, it crashed. That has happened twice now. Still no help from Bungie.

              • Experiencing random crashes. I tried running the Destiny 2 executable as admin (a suggestion on Reddit) and it continues. I get the "Destiny 2 has stopped responding" during freezes, tabbing out or leaving the game idle. I can't even enjoy a game with it crashing non-stop after an hour or two. My CPU/GPU temps are perfect. I have Destiny 2 set on high, my GPU temps never reach 65c. My CPU temps never reach 75c. My CPU isn't overclocked. Every other game I play runs perfectly. I even tried reinstalling on my SSD, no dice. I am out of options. And yes, I installed the latest NVIDIA driver. PC specs: CPU: Ryzen 1600X GPU: GTX 1080Ti SC RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10

since i couldn't play (can't quite farm those public events when you crash every 2-3) (but hey according to blizzard it's consistent playtime so no refund) i went ahead and typed format c:\ in the proper spot now im installing w 10, in the pc there will be 3 things, windows drivers destiny, if it crashes again most likely it's on bungie. hopefully i will make the transition from crashes to fps stuttering so at least i can decide when to restart, but hey it's consistent playtime wow i actually managed to play 2 hours and then i turned the game off for the first time!

                • Same here, bungie addressed crashing upon startup but these seem different as it's during loading screens mainly. Tried a couple memory/RAM fixes but doesn't seem to be helping much. CPU: i5 4690 GPU: Nvidia GeForce gtx 980 RAM: 12gb GPU Driver Version: 388.00

                  • So I was experiencing these random crashes as well. It wasn't until I played with my friend that I realized what might be causing the issue. Seems like when you are in a Fireteam and someone within that Fireteam quits the game, for some reason, the game isn't able to handle that operation and causes the person still in the game to lock up and freeze. I need to test this more though. The way my crash happens: video locks up but there is still audio. Keyboard is responsive. There is no audio stutter. All of a sudden, the game just closes. There are no logs in my "Event Viewer". Note: I haven't been able to find any logs generated by the game or the Battle.net client.
