4 RepliesI've been crashing all the time since launch. Windows is up to date, all drivers are up to date, my BIOS is up to date, nothing is overclocked. I've made sure both the Blizzard app and Destiny 2 are allowed to communicate through Windows Firewall. I've enabled/disabled Windows Game Mode. I've ran memory tests overnight with no errors, I've ran graphics card stress tests with no errors. I've monitored PC temperatures, nothing is overheating, I've taken my computer apart and cleaned everything very thoroughly. I've monitored CPU/Memory usage while playing, and it never spikes into high numbers. I've fiddled endlessly with in game settings. I've made sure nothing else is running in the background while trying to play. I've tried every suggestion I can find on various forums/posts. I've completely reinstalled Windows, downloaded only Blizzard/Destiny. Nothing I do matters, I keep crashing and the crash report is the exact same every time. CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k GPU: GeForce GTX 660 RAM: 8gb OS: Windows 10 v1703, forcing update to 1709 through MS website at the time of this post. dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/MJvxipSw Crash Log from Destiny 2's temp folder: https://pastebin.com/txXA74Kb Crash Report from AppCrashView: https://pastebin.com/47XG1hqJ Additional AppCrashView info: 0xc0000005 Access Violation 0x00cf2880 Original Forum Post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237613925?sort=0&page=0 Some Observations: The crashes are not consistent, and seem much, much worse during some PvE activities. I can play Crucible for hours on end without crashing, but it still does crash with the same errors. I was crashing last week during the raid every 30ish minutes, then it stopped and I was able to finish the raid without crashing. I can play through the Campaign without much issue, though it will randomly crash still. Public events are the worst and crash the most frequent, with the planet Titan being infinitely worse than any other location. I can just be standing in a random location on Titan and I'll crash, but this really isn't the case anywhere else.

I'm experiencing the same issue. It seems to happen most often when there are a lot of Particle Effects happening at once. For instance, I crash consistently when I'm at the end of a Heroic Public Event and multiple people cast their Supers simultaneously to attack a boss. I am able to replicate this crash almost every time. It's quite odd. The game ran smooth for the first couple of weeks. Now, I'm getting constant crashes. Either the game crashes as stated above or it crashes approximately every hour. It's one or the other, whichever comes first, and happens consistently. I do not have this issue with any other game and temps/clocks remain stable throughout. Current Specs: Asus Maximus IX Code i7 7700k NZXT Kraken X62 GTX 1080 Ti Kingpin TridentZ RGB DDR4-3200 Samsung 960 Evo M.2 NVMe SSD EVGA Supernova 850 G3 This is getting extremely frustrating. I can barely even complete a Public Event and I'm afraid to even start a Raid right now. I'm convinced that it has something to do with the Destiny 2 software. My current GPU Driver was released on Oct 29 and I did not experience these crashes after downloading that update. It was about 4-5 days ago when the problem first occurred. I've reinstalled Windows and Destiny 2. I've tried Scan and Repair a couple of times. I've tried running BattleNet and Destiny 2 as Administrator. I've tried Uninstalling Precision X and using MSI Afterburner for controlling Fan Curve instead. I've tried with ZERO programs running in the background. I've tried setting Power to Performance Mode in Windows 10. I honestly couldn't tell you how much time I've spent troubleshooting and I'm at my wit's end. I'm ready to throw in the towel and put this game down for a while. Super Mario Odyssey awaits...

I had a similar issue - my game would crash randomly - anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes. No errors or anything, the game would just freeze for a few seconds then crash out to the desktop. I tried every video card settings, excluded the directory from antivirus, ran game as admin, etc - but the only thing that fixed it was leaving my clan. Once I did that, boom, no more crashing. I'm assuming it has something to do with the roster\performance issues that were reported. Apparently there is a fix going in tomorrow - Thursday - to resolve that. So hopefully that fixes it and I can join my clan again! Hope that helps. I'll end up copying and paste this in a few other threads that I've been following for a fix.

Same here!

2 RepliesTry turning the power plan settings in windows up the the max (high performance). In particular make sure the Link Power State Management option under PCI Express is switched to off. Solved the crashes for me and I was having them every 5 minutes since launch.

I went to the Bungie advice and attempted to delete my cvars.mxl file. When my computer scanned for the file, it found 3 of them. One under windows.old\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\bng_ticket\ and some long number strings \retail; another as per the one Bungie said to delete, and yet another that is similar to the first one I listed here, but with different numbers but no subfile of window.old at the front of the queue

Getting the same issue here with an i7 4790K, GTX 970, 32GB RAM & Windows 10. Just wondering you wouldn't have an overclock on your GPU?

I don't know if this will help anyone but hey, if it helps even just one person then I guess it's worth it. So my game would freeze entirely and then crash to desktop after about 10-15 minutes of play (sometimes less). I used a free program called Speedfan to check my system's performance and temperatures...I did this to see if the game had a memory leak or if anything was overheating. I logged in, loaded up the game and saw that my GPU was seeing temperatures well past 75c and that was with me sitting still at the main player hub (the tower...thing). There were no explosions and there weren't that many running around me...and the temperature for the GPU just shot up FAST. In my settings I had my FPS cap set to "unlimited" (due to my PC being fairly beefy and capable of running the game on ultra with 60 fps easily). I thought that perhaps this had something to do with the GPU going nuts so I capped the FPS at 60fps. Doing this has kept the GPU from overheating and the game hasn't crashed once since I made that change. Give it a try. If nothing else you can check your system's temperatures to make sure you're not frying anything. :P

2 RepliesEdited by mrbad2thebonez: 10/29/2017 11:10:23 PMTry Setting Both Blizzard app .exe and Destiny 2 .exe folders to ( run as administrator ) go to the Folder where its located then 1- right click on it. 2- Properties 3- Compatibility 4- then tick on ( Run as Admin...) on both i used to get the same crash every 20 min or so telling me that the game cant read data correctly and needs me to run scan and repair... after doing that now im playing for a solid 6 hours without crashes See Lugias post for details on how to do it: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236832022?sort=0&page=0 Hope this helps

2 RepliesEdited by baytheway: 10/27/2017 5:17:05 PMI'm playing on 2015 iMac 5k with bootcamp and hadn't had any problems with any games so far. Destiny 2 crashes very randomly for me tho... Sometimes I can play 2 hours without a crash and sometimes it crashes after 20 minutes. It happens usually during fights but I think that may be coincidental since I spend most of my time there fighting. Screen just freezes for few seconds then goes black and "Destiny 2 stopped working" pops up. I'm enjoying the game so far but this is frustrating. I'm looking forward for a fix cause I don't think this is my hardware issue. SPECS: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600 CPU @ 3.30 GHZ RAM: 24 GB Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M395 Edit: I will update my graphics card drivers and see if that helps

2 RepliesHas anything been done to rectify this problem? I played this game for 10 hours straight the first day I bought it with no issues, now every 10 to 20 minutes of game play, it crashes on me... I can't understand why. None of my other games are having this problem... I've updated all my drivers for every possible thing and still, this issue persists... I might just have to refund it because I can't find a solution to this issue...

Try setting both battle.net.exe and destiny2.exe to run as administrator. See my post for details on how to do it: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236832022?sort=0&page=0

2 RepliesI've had the same issue since day 1. Made a post, no response. There is a much larger thread somewhere on here, with a bungie admin saying "Thank you for your report. I have forwarded this to the appropriate team for investigation." This was 58 hours ago from this comment. Looks to me it's an issue with all sorts of different hardware, and still no word or fix on it. Would love a response so I can know to refund this game or not.

1 ReplyEdited by Robdarian: 10/29/2017 3:06:30 PMI had the same issues until I removed my custom overclock now it's fine. Maybe that will help.

Trying to troubleshoot my own frequent crashes on hardware above the recommended specs. Logging my own findings at https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236698665?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1
