RESOLUTION UPDATE: I was able to stop the crashing by UNDERCLOCKING my videocard. With the ASUS GPU Tweak II, I created a custom profile and set the max GPU speed to 1700MHz and since I haven't had another crash.

Destination/Activity: EDZ/Adventuring
Description: The game stops responding, freezes, or closes at random. This does not seem to be tied to any specific action, menu, time or task. The game hasn't had an issue while sitting in a menu, inventory or when loading, it does seem to only happen when actively playing. Sometimes the screen will go black for a few seconds, come back (while still frozen), then close out completely... almost like the video driver crashed, however after reviewing the Event Viewer there is no crash reported.
The Event Viewer is reporting Errors when Destiny 2 stops responding as follows:
The program destiny2.exe version 60349.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Things I've tried that haven't worked:
- Deleted CVARS file from \Users\USER_NAME\Appdata\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs\
- Updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers (Ver 388.00)
- Removed all NVIDIA drivers/software from the system, and reinstalled fresh using the GeForce Experience
- Deleted and reinstalled Destiny 2
- Changed the power option for PCI Express - Link State Power Management - to "OFF"
- Changed graphics settings within Destiny 2 (V-Sync on/off, Shadows, Textures, etc etc)
- Ran Battle.net && Destiny 2 as Admin
- Copied \Destiny 2\bin\x64\GFSDK_Aftermath_lib.dll to \Destiny 2\ (one user reported this worked for them)
- Used Battle.net to Scan/Repair the game with no findings or issues
- Edited the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers adding TdrDelay & TdrDdiDelay with values of 20
- Switched Regions in Battle.net from American to Europe

I was having freezing at random spots, menus, crucible, pve, "are you there?" screen. Nothing made any sense. Only game to have a problem... Finally figured it out so I thought I would mention it here in case anyone else is having a problem. BitDefender (or whatever antivirus software you're running).... Apparently its messing with the EXE or the memory the game is using while playing which breaks the game on occasion. Ever since I added the destiny folder and destiny executables to the exemption list for the Antivirus and the Advanced Threat Detection system the problem has disappeared!

5 RepliesEdited by Tribunal: 10/26/2017 6:58:04 PMWhat your describing sounds very similar to what I experienced. Tuesday night, few issues, but then Wednesday it happened 5 or 6 times. It would either freeze, crash or (and this is the weird one) I'd get the "Destiny has stopped running" error on the desktop - but Destiny would keep running just fine. I'd be dumped to the desktop, but I'd still see the Destiny icon in the taskbar. When I clicked it, the game would come back up and everything would work just fine. Not only that, but after reaching this odd state, it stopped crashing until I shut down for the night. Same thing happened Tuesday night as well. Pure guess: Maybe there's a specific process in Destiny 2 that's getting into a bad state. If it crashes, but doesn't take the entire game down with it, the rest of the game continues along fine.
