Destiny 2 HDR mode too bright.

When I enable HDR in video options for Destiny 2, the game becomes too bright. The white is overwhelming the visibility of everything, no matter how I set up my uhd hdr tv, if I lower brightness still the same, lower contrast, still the same. If I turn HDR off in game video options, then the game looks normal again. Let's say, I'm at the Farm in destiny 2. I can see the horizon, the green grass and trees in the far distance. But if I enable HDR in game video options, the horizon becomes invisible due too extreme white light, not even a hint of what is there at the horizon is visible. My uhd hdr tv does have a hdr+ mode, but if I enable HDR in destiny 2 game options, that hdr+ mode suddenly turns off and it becomes unavailable to choose. Both game mode and hdr+ mode become unavailable, when I turn on hdr in destiny 2 video options. If I turn off HDR in game video options, I am able to turn on or off the game mode and hdr+ mode on my tv. In the past I have experienced these issues may be related due to incorrect ingame Hertz settings, however, this game doesn't allow me to choose Hertz, but it does seem to validate the 50 Hertz in Vsync, so I think that's not the issue. The resolution is correct aswell. I did manage to make HDR in game video options enabled WORK. I recall both ingame hdr, and my tv settings hdr+ mode was enabled at the same time, and it looked really good. However, I can't seem to recall how I did that, so I will have to keep trying different things, and hope it will work or hope maybe I will suddenly recall how I did it. I got samsung uhd 4k hdr 40 inch and gold hdmi 4k cable.

  • Hello. I fix this by changing the value from hdr_output from "1" to "0" in the cvars.xml file. Here where you can find it. \Users\USER_NAME\Appdata\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs\

So I found out the solution. My cable was in hdmi 2 port, and only hdmi 1 port was capable to be set to "UHD COLOR on" So I made sure hdmi 1 was set to "uhd color on" and set cable there, made sure it was set to correct Hertz, in nvidia screen display resolution settings, 50 Hz for my screen. Changed from 60 to 50. Then opened the game, and now hdr works correctly.
