Why is Madden 06' not Madden 05' THE YEAR IT WAS MADE? I never understood why all sports games must be a dated a year ahead of their actual production. It doesn't make any sense at all. Can any of you explain?

Well what about Tom Clancy games which are like 5 years in the future?
-
Baseball games, at least some of them, they actually post two years into the future.
Posted by: lellowranger Why is Madden 06' not Madden 05' THE YEAR IT WAS MADE?
Well... because the game starts with Training camp of '05 and the season goes from late '05 to early '06.. since the this is the '05 - '06 season.. they made it Madden 06

Just blame EA they are evil producers of endless licenced tat and have a thing for yearly updates thats exactly the same but with 06 instead of 05. I hope EA become bankrupt and stop clogging shops with crap games.
-
just like a sports season, like the current football season is 2005-06. it would be back dated to call it '05, because the season ends in '06
-
What if it's an 06' game released in the beggining of 05'? Or does that even happen.
-
Well, let's say the game was made in late '05 (like Madden). Who would want to buy Madden '05 in '06? Not many people, because it's a "year old". It's the same thing with cars.
-
Ok, now does anyone actually know?

It's the cool thing to do... duh!
