Asher Mir is being manipulated by the Vex

Hello everybody, An insane thought pop up in my head, you know that theory that your every action and though may be inputs something or someone controlling you? Well that is just an over simplified version but lets apply this concept to our friendly warlock Asher here. As we know he was once part a raid that infiltrated the Pyramidion and encountered a lake that transformed his right arm into a Vex arm, you would also here dialogue how he can feel the Vex consciousness through his arm. Now I have reason to believe that the Vex did this to him intentionally to understand Guardians better in how they are made and quite possibly how to control them so that they can use the light now that we took the darkness away from them. Our first clue is back on Io where Asher volunteers us in an experiment with the intent to create synthetic light can quite possibility create man made guardians. This led me to think why would a researcher focused on the Vex want to create light and make new guardians? This brings up the second clue to this puzzle takes us to a mission on Nessus, I cannot remember the name but your ghost mentions dialogue of how the Vex don't call you Guardians but "that which wields what we cannot simulate." That experiment must not have been an idea that Asher though of on his own but the Vex influenced him so they can continue their experiments on harnessing the light for their own purpose. This is very possible due to the fact that the Vex once created a mind called Blade Quiria to study the Hives Sword Logic and how it gives the power of the darkness through worship. Obviously they cannot just create a mind to inmate guardians in hopes of using the Light since it has to choose you so the next best thing is to infect a wielder of the light with their fluids so that they can observe it closely and influence it to gain results. This is like some scientist forcing an animal to wear a device and sending it back to its habitat to observe it without interrupting it with it knowing its being watched. What do you all think?

  • Asher admits he is not sure what the Vex arm truly is doing to him and that he is afraid. He explains this once you finish all of the Io adventures and see him. I know alot of people don't like him, but I like the Asher Mir character and his attitude. I think he is hilarious with his sarcasm.

  • the vex are not defined by their physical form, but the biological compound of radiolaria that their shell holds, so unless asher is a suicidal radiolaria addict, (which would kill him anyway, hell, look at what happened to kabr who had a sip, and osiris who went completely mad just trying to understand the vex) the idea of him being controlled seems kinda silly and improbable. and seeing as that we (as in guardians) are paracausal beings which is the only thing keeping us from complete annihilation from the vex because the the one thing they can’t seem to understand, if the vex managed to figure out how to control the minds of guardians, we’d be obliterated and the vex would ultimately become the rulers of the universe, yikes

      • The artificial light mission is more so to help those that haven’t gotten their light back which failed but yes it does make some sense for this
