Keeps crashing

When i start the game, select my character and log in it takes me to a black load screen. The symbol in the corner changes shape once and then it freezes. A window pops up saying the game has stopped working. Currently unable to play the game. [The game ran perfectly fine during beta] Edit: Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T GPU: AMD Radeon HD6900 Ram: 8GB EditEdit: Seems like AMD Phenom CPUs are the problem. Hopefully we'll hear from Bungie soon. If not I am going to try to get a refund. I only bought this game because i was able to run the beta.

      • I don't know if this will help anyone but hey, if it helps even just one person then I guess it's worth it. So my game would freeze entirely and then crash to desktop after about 10-15 minutes of play (sometimes less). I used a free program called Speedfan to check my system's performance and temperatures...I did this to see if the game had a memory leak or if anything was overheating. I logged in, loaded up the game and saw that my GPU was seeing temperatures well past 75c and that was with me sitting still at the main player hub (the tower...thing). There were no explosions and there weren't that many running around me...and the temperature for the GPU just shot up FAST. In my settings I had my FPS cap set to "unlimited" (due to my PC being fairly beefy and capable of running the game on ultra with 60 fps easily). I thought that perhaps this had something to do with the GPU going nuts so I capped the FPS at 60fps. Doing this has kept the GPU from overheating and the game hasn't crashed once since I made that change. Give it a try. If nothing else you can check your system's temperatures to make sure you're not frying anything. :P

        • So my issue seems to be a little different than most of the ones I've read here... I'm running a GTX1080TI and an i7-6700k and even though performance is fantastic throughout, I keep getting super random crashes. It may be 10 minutes in, it may be an hour in, but I've yet to end a session by my own choice. I am still super early in bc of the crashes, I've had to replay missions over and over only to then crash again and all the time I spent counting for nothing...I'm loving the game and it's fun when not crashing, but it's getting to a point of feeling useless to play bc it will just crash and I'll lose all the progress I've made!

              • So they removing the SSSE3 requirement. I'm happy to hear it. But still, the Phenom Users wait 1 week for this update, all my coworkers finish the story mode, they have good loot and other equipment, what we have(phenom users)? Nothing. I angry, just a little.

                    • So my game would freeze promptly into a session, so bad I had to repeat the initial mission almost 10 times until I tried this: 1. Reset CPU clocks/voltage to defaults. 2. Reset GPU clocks/voltage to defaults. 3. Obtain monitoring software (MSI Afterburner is my choice) to check CPU/GPU temps. 4. Enable the monitoring window through MSI so you can see the max temp your GPU/CPU within a play session. 5. Run D2 along with monitoring software. Long story short I already was monitoring my system temps because of the crashing and nothing was above a danger threshold and nothing was shutting down to prevent damage so I naturally assumed it wasn't an overheating issue. So I changed all my hardware back to default clocks etc... and noticed a small drop in my temps which allowed me to play longer before a freeze/crash. Then I took my PC side case off and realized it was pretty warm but according to my monitoring software it was still within a safe limit. I decided to keep the case off and put a fan next to it blowing kind of inline with my exhaust fans and... NO CRASH FOR 5+ HOURS OF PLAY!! I couldn't believe it. My only theory is that perhaps SOMETHING within D2 causes certain temps to mess with the game. I've restarted and played several sessions today using this method with great success - not a single crash and I even upped my video settings to high/ultra and continued without a crash. So give this a try - check temps first after setting hardware back to default settings and if that still doesn't work open up your case. If that still doesn't work, add a fan or whatever method you have available to safely cooldown your hardware and the air around it. It's not a great fix to have the case open and a fan adding excess dust but hey, it worked for me. Hopefully as we head into the winter months my ambient temps will be low enough to run the game without an open case/fan. Let me know about your results - cheers! Oh and specs: Intel i7-4820k @ 3.70GHz 16GB RAM GTX760

                      • Wow you can get to the character select? As soon as I hit enter it crashes lol. The first launch worked - I was getting 80 FPS, but halfway through the story mission it crashed and now it doesn't work period. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it cause of the same problem?

                            • Ok, maybe you guys are working as hell for an update, but still there is only silence. We need a "We're trying to update this situation as soon as possible". I'm (probably) speaking for alot of people here, we KNOW that is hard to work on a update for this kind of situation, but what we NEED is a fix, or at least some status update. Sometimes people like to know they're being heard.
