First off, kudos to privet caboose for revealing page 129 of "First Strike" (scroll down a little on link).
I haven't read "First Strike" in a long time and I can't believe I missed this. ONI was able to clone S-II's and replace some of them if they really needed to. Some of those clones are most likely some of the S-III's that we see in "Ghosts of Onyx" and, of course, Halo: Reach. These same cloning capabilities were obviously used to help start the SPARTAN-II program when ONI had to replace the childern with clones so their parents would never think they were gone.
It would make sense why they always said "Spartans never die, they're just missing in action." Spartans do die, but there's the possibility of cloning them if need be. The cloning process is not perfect and obviously the Spartan clones aren't exactly like their original.
Now, why do I think Noble 6 could be the Master Chief's clone? Simply because Bungie knows that a lot of us love John-117, but in order to avoid breaking canon and still let us play as MC they would give us John's clone. Still as bad-ass, still as lucky as the original, and we still won't know what he looks like (because he's you, me or anyone else).
Note- This is just speculation and nothing has been confirmed. Noble 6 could be a clone of a different S-II (i.e. Sam) or he could be a completely different person that isn't a clone of anybody.
Also, I realize Noble 6 can also be a woman in the campaign, but that was intentional for Bungie to appeal to the female audience. Going by the actual story alone (apart from the game), Noble 6 is a man.
It's possible that ONI was able to refine the cloning process so the clones could live longer. I mean, they had like 30-40 years between the beginning of the S-II program and the S-III program. Then again you could be right.
it was nowhere 30-40 years between the s2's and s3's. the s2's started around 2517, while the s3's started in 2531

The female MP Spartan model would, when her shields were popped, suddenly become the male Spartan model. Thus explains the "Female" noble six xD
Posted by: KillerGunzz5117 SIX IS NOT MASTERCHIEF IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. You can play as a female spartan, and before a lot of you say duh well maybe they cloned master chief as a female think why would they what would it accomplish to make him a female clone. Also clones are unstable they wouldnt be able to fight anyway. and he says that Spartans Never die because spartans arent marked as KIA they're always put down as MIA. I dont know why but thats just what they do
The main reason why they mark Spartans MIA is because it would keep the morale high for all the soldiers and marines of the UNSC. I'm stating that there MIGHT be another reason why they are marked MIA. Also, I never said Noble 6 is Master Chief. I said Noble 6 MIGHT be Master Chief's clone. Please re-read what I posted.

Noble Six is you. The whole hyper leathal refference makes it seem that noble six and MC are the only hyper lethal spartans, and that they are similar in many ways, Lucky, Heroic, Powerful, extremeley skilled. This I believe was an excellent way of getting you interested in Noble Six. In the other Halo's you played as MC, from the books you knew his story, and he was awesome. He was a killing machine with the ability to save humanity. In Reach, and with this new video, Bungie is trying to make you have the same feeling that Noble Six is unstoppable, Lethal, and Needed for the survival of the human race. But this time he is YOU, he has what ever back story YOU want. In Reach YOU are the powerful Human War machine, not MC. To me that is just as good if not better than playing as Masterchief.

But being Master Chief gets boring after 3 games so I have no doubt that Noble 6 isn't John's clone. Hahaha, yes!

Noble Six is going to remove his helmet to reveal Master Chief's helmet. Then we can all lay that one to rest.

New armor ability- SEX CHANGE!
Either that or we had the master chief/cortana voices turned around. Cortana: I need a weapon! Master Chief: OMG! Let's pick that one it matches my boots. They are bringing out new versions of The Fall of Reach books with added content. My guess is that this added content will create more consistency between the game and the book.
-
If you pay attention to the vidoc, when they come to noble 6 doctor halsley says that there is only one other spartan with that record. That other spartan is the chief, and cortana picked him because he has luck. Or maybe he has a hawt body, who knows.
-
The woman in the vidoc did compare Noble 6 to the Chief.... but I don't know if he/she's John-117's clone.
-
I agree with a A Jar of Dirt...
-
Good point, but like others said, what if Noble 6 is female... But it is pretty obvious that Dr. Hasley was talking about John-117 when she said "only one other spartan had these". So who knows?
-
no just no the clones only survive a few years then they die a horrible death

i did have a thought about this, but then i remembered that you can make noble 6 a female character, and that makes it so it couldnt be a clone, (unless they messed with the DNA)

The only problem: Despite being able to clone people, all of the clones either died early or had ver serious degenerative diseases. private caboose's page reference doesn't really help as it is talking about the same cloning process that causes the degenerative diseases and death.

Noble 6 is you; that's really all there is to it. And aren't the clones supposed to be really weak and unstable? Doesn't rule out cloning altogether, but I can't imagine they'd make efficient soldiers. [Edited on 08.17.2010 9:20 AM PDT]

That would raise a lot of questions if someone was to ever choose the female option for their spartan.
