It's anecdotal, but indicative. There are stories like this all over the place. Not usually about someones dad, but lots of stories about people finishing the game and quitting right away. The problems with the endgame become evident almost as soon as you get there. Most of us see it right away, some of us take a couple weeks to notice, but eventually, we'll all see how bad this game is. Your dad is one of the smarter among us. He should be congratulated. It took me a couple days to figure out how bad this game is after I finished the story.

  • I think part of the problems stem from people feeling a particular way and making a leap all feel that way and all will. You've already decided I, being part of "all" will see the game as bad. I still love the game right now, I've played it for 300 plus hours and still have a ton of stuff I haven't even touched yet. There's also two million of us on pve alone every day still. The numbers are indicative of some. It really doesn't stray too far from other giant title releases. I think black ops three lost 58 percent or so in its first Month of daily players. The game still did fine and people still enjoy that game. I feel bad many people didn't feel they got their money's worth for the time put into it, or it didn't meet their expectations. But it's jumping to an absurd conclusion. Are you really suggesting that the two million plus players daily are actually miserable and simply are being tricked and don't know they secretly aren't having fun? Do you think maybe part of the lack of support on the threads is maybe due to the fact that those two million are playing the game and having fun? If I wasn't in a spot where I had work or something to do id be playing too instead of waiting for dabest to say "yeah this game sux" in every thread created. And it's both sides people who pretend the game or any game for that matter doesn't have flaws is insane. I think it's stupid guided games require a clan, and three friends can't go online to help others due to some arbitrary rule because they had other friends and were in other clans. I also think having timers in nightfalls is a problem when there's misleading time gates you are stuck on. It's sort of a fake time in that you really don't have x amount of time to accomplish a feat because you are going to be stuck waiting 50 seconds for a door to open or an elevator to slowly rise. But I realize that's purely subjective and it's some people's favorite aspect of the game. Further going off on a tangent the last mass effect wasn't even a bad game, it simply suffered the same fall of destiny1 and they had to cut off 2/3 of what they were developing. Mass effect was made in 18 months after three years of work were tossed out because they quite simply could not create what they set out to with, for lack of a better example, they tried to make no mans sky with a story. They gutted the three years trying to make random unique encounters for every player with narrative beats glued into worlds are set points of exploration. It didn't work so they rebooted and rushed to put out something after so long and it showed in resumed assets for q multitude of experiences that congealed together and all ended up looking the same as the rest. To their credit most critics put it as a "good" game just not on the level of previous titles. And if anyone hasn't played t yet, it's actually a lot of fun with decent combat mechanics you are used to from mass effect 2 and 3.

  • You are wise to doubt this. WastedonDestiny says he has 34 hours, and multiple deleted characters (all with times attached to them). It is very likely that he didn't spend the same amount of time as a full time job playing this game, and WastedonDestiny confirms this. The one caveat is that WastedonDestiny is admitting that they are having some issues right now getting proper reports from Destiny. These reports are causing some errors in their calculations. But, considering how unlikely it is that he spent 40 hours a week playing this game, I think we are wise to trust WastedonDestiny more than someone who likes to delete a bunch of characters.
