But Destiny 1 Didn't Have Content Either When It Came Out...

This excuse needs to be put down like a sad dog on it's last legs that keeps going up to everyone for attention but can't help but pee all over their legs. Why people think it's okay for a sequel to a game that came out in 2014 (that's 3 years ago in case you are keeping count) and the dev had years of feedback and dev time to learn from their mistakes on should just repeat those mistakes and that's fine is beyond me. Like they think because all the content in the expansions wasn't part of the original games that it shouldn't be part of the new release is just not a line of thinking I can get on board with and I'll tell you why. First before Destiny 2 was released you could actually buy Destiny 1 and all it's DLC and expansions as a full game for $40. That means for certain portion of the playerbase their entire Destiny experience is tied behind that being a full game without extra purchases. That's the nature of the evolution of a game. Secondly you don't see DICE reverting Battlefront to the state it was without all the DLC when it released for the sequel do you? No in fact they are adding in a freaking singleplayer campaign that is canon to the Universe and so many features and improving the game in ways that BUILD on what the first game was left at. Now the microtransactions are a different story but my point is you don't have to look far for an example of how your excuse falls apart. Using crappy yearly titles like COD to excuse Bungie's bad behavior does not make the game look as good as you may think it does.

  • But D2 had more missions. More cutscenes. A more seamless gameplay experience. The raid even seems like it's about the same size, albeit with a few less boss fights. The crucible? Well... the weapons are balanced at least, that what everyone wanted right? Balanced crucible weapons. And oh, no cheap one hit KO move where they throw a homing death ball move at you every 30 seconds. That was something everyone wanted for the better right? And the supers? Well, almost everything is a roaming super now, that's fantastic for 7/9 subclasses right? Way better than the 4/9 from the previous game right? (No one ran anything but fireborn in trials anyway) point is, aside from the lack of game type and team size variety, they did a lot of things to fix PvP. And PvE? It hasn't really changed that much. If you can find some goal in the game, chase it. D2 isn't like D1 where you have to chase this elusive pie in the sky gjallarhorn to say that you win, you can get weapons much easier now, so now, its about building up your loadouts to manage every situation. Do you have a loadout for each subclass? How about a variety of weapon loadouts to manage every situation? How about the part where you collect every set of armor, apply your legendary mods to it, and actually accomplish the goal of form+function?! It's a different game. It's not D1. Expect something different.

    • I don't expect sequels to have all the same shit as the previous game. It's a new game, I expect it to be different.

    • Destiny 2 needs to be compared to D1 year 3 as this game is supposed to be a continuation of the series and less of a sequel. People are ma's because a majority of the changes for the better in D1 were completely forgotten about.

    • i grinded hard for many many months with d1 vanilla to get certain exotics and armor i wanted...i grinded 1-2 weeks and been using the same weapons since and have most of the exotics that i dont use because there worthless, so yeah this game has about 70% less content then d1 had at the start.

      • At least in og destiny you could run strikes for good loot, do bounties (especially exotic ones), do the actually fun nightfall, and grind for the currency that you needed for a specific vendor (strange coins, vanguard marks, and crucible.

      • D1 Vanilla had much more than this, we had more than 4 strikes and raid that actually forced you to grind and was way more fun, better looking gear and exotics that were actually very powerful, lots of story missions (given there was no story, they were still fun to do), heroic playlist and a Nightfall that sent you to orbit after death, the ability to glitch into DLC areas and see everything that was coming up, more collectibles to take your mind of the grind (dead ghosts), and plenty more. Destiny 1 Vanilla was better than Destiny 2 Vanilla, simple.

        • But D1 didn't have anything to base the game on like D2 did. D2 didnt have to start at square one like D1 did. D2 should have been much more robust as a game right out of the gate because they had the formula in place from the end of D1. Instead they started all over with new parts and most hate it.

            But... Campaign... Public events... Lost sectors... Memories from Ikora... Strikes.... 2 nightfall difficulties... 2 raid difficulties... Exotic weapon quests... Trials... Iron Banner... Faction rally... Cayde's chests... The daily package milestone... Over 8 NPC characters to level up... There [i]are[/i] things to do. Possibly even more than in D1.

              Dude in D1 u could play pvp 24/24 without feeling bored or without raging for all the lag, here after 3 years it's worst that day 1 of D1

            • Another point i make is if D2 is a "New" game. Then why are all the enemies the same? Aside from maybe 3 or 4 new attacks and 2 or 3 new enemies. They are the same. They litterally took all of D1 and downgraded it for D2. Not content. Mechanics and overall functionality. Vanilla D1 made sense. Vanilla D2 doesnt.

              • If Bungie learned NOTHING in the 1st 3 years of Destiny it is their shortcoming, not the player base. We all WANTED D2 to be the Destiny with all the fixes and changes implemented in the original. What we got seems like an unfinished product once again. I just don’t know who’s to blame specifically, Activision or Bungie. Personally I say BOTH

                • Never said it was ok. I just wish people would take off the rose tinted glasses. D1 was worse off than D2 in many aspects at launch.

                • One thing I legit don't understand is the point of adventures. Once we progress to 20 and so on, why would I do n adventure that guarantees rare blue gear? Tons of missions to do, but no incentive worth it. Same applies to Lost Sectors

                  • I paid $70 for Ark: Survival Evolved, it was in beta for a long time, but it included 3 HUGE maps and I already got another one for free. Insane amount of content. Destiny 2 cost more and I spent more tike learning to play Ark than I played in Destiny 2 before I got bored.
