Should Pvp be changed?

Poll Question: Does the current version of pvp need a change? Currently, pvp sucks. It's a sweaty, competitive mess, but that's not an issue for everyone. The issue that is hurting pvp so much is the fact that both casual and competitive are competitive. Why is casual competitive? In order to solve casual's failure to be casual and ultimately help the game I propose that we fundamentally change what the pvp modes are about. Please note that when I say something should be skill/time based, I mean that with an additional restriction of ping being below 100 so matches aren't too laggy. Firstly, we need to separate casual and competitive pvp. The best way to do this would be to provide fixed guns for competitive pvp matches so that everything is fair and balanced and no one has a loot advantage on anyone else. It should also be skill based, or else newer players would just get stomped and not have any chance of winning. This is what the competitive community has always wanted, so give it to them. Casual, on the other hand, should adopt the vanilla destiny 1 approach of having all the pve guns with some players having clear advantages because of their loot. This game mode should be gametime based so that people who invest similar amounts of time with similar loot are more likely to be placed together to make the weapons more fair and add some level of challenge. Trials of the Osiris(the nine? I don't know what it's called) should go with the competitive infrastructure, so that it's an ultra competitive way to get loot based purely on skill. Iron banner should be like casual, except actually factor in light level so that players who have grinded their light more efficiently have an advantage over those who spent their time poorly. I believe that these changes would allow Bungie to re-implement features like random weapon rolls without harming the competitive community too much and allow everyone to have more fun in a pvp that is loot based like the game markets itself as. So, what do you think? Does pvp need to be changed? Is there a better way to change it? Post your ideas so we can make the game more fun!

  • No matter what, 4v4 is always going to be more competitive than 6v6. If you want a more casual experience then you should ask for 8v8, vehicular combat maps. The definition of casual is based strictly on playing for fun without caring about improving etc. Also, basing matchmaking on skill only and not connection means that within this hocus pocus P2P wannabe nonsense that bungie has provided, host players would win every single game against players of equal skill, much like how halo went back in the day. The only meaningful way bungie can improve the player experience beyond the current tediousness is by thinking bigger, like halo variety bigger. And also by providing dedicated servers. Not just for PvP, but also for raids etc.

People complaining like destiny is their life. Pathetic.

  • I like the specific loadout idea for competitive maybe it switches from week to week or map to map or there's set loadouts maybe three that players can choose from - so players in theory won't complain about not having options but there's balance because everyone has the same tools at there disposal. More Game Modes and separate playlist and or votes before matches to what game mode and map you are doing for regular PvP. Maybe something where all exotic weapons can be equipped and or exotic armour. Iron Banner Light levels included. Possible different game options other then control or in addition to control. Personally I think kill confirmed survival and control in constant rotation for iron banner would be cool and for each game mode you should get different challenges which should keep players interested in playing. I would like 6v6 back and maybe something only during the Faction Rallies where there is 3 teams one representing each of the respected factions. In this Game Mode you'll be required only to wear Faction armour and Faction Weapons and would be pitted against the other factions in the Crucible.
