Simply putting in random rolls on all gear would go a long way in D2. I'm sorry, but I don't see that as a huge problem to fix. Also adding different mods. That's probably fairly easy too.

  • There are random rolls. Bungie took the random rolls for every weapon and made each roll its own weapon. Basically take a weapon, line up copies of that weapon side by side except the copies have a different combination of perks. Remove / replace undesired perks like luck in the chamber on all copies. Now rename the weapons, change the paint job. IMO that is what I am playing with, weapons that are renamed copies.

  • Adding in random rolls to a gun (just one) could take up to 10-30 minutes, now imagine to every single gun in the game, on top of having to keep D2s core infrastructure, maintaining uptime and developing new content at the same time. It seems easy but as a developer for a micro service company myself, the time is the hardest constraint. Now I’m not defending them by saying this, because I’m sure they ported Destiny One and reworked that, so they did have the random rolls and everything before, uh... I forgot where I was going with this. Anyways they should’ve had the random rolls from the start of development, instead they made more effort on something no one in the community wa— wait nevermind LS wanted it so I guess that’s 1.

  • It's their job. 10 minutes??? Are you serious complaining that it could take 10 minutes? Okay, get 2 people or 3... and you're done in a day. WTF?

Do the random rolls on Legendaries only. I don't know how many legendaries there are but even if there are 500 across all weapon classes at 30 minutes of development a piece, that's only 250 hrs. That's less than 2 weeks for 4 developers. Guarantee you they can write a script to automate this. I work in corporate IT development and Implementation- this is not hard. Edit- as others have noted, this is more a matter of pride on Bungie's part. Nothing to do with the matter being technically difficult. Bungie will likely not admit that their fixed rolls philosophy doesn't work for the type of game they advertised. I mean they literally said "Their will be a TON of loot".

  • Oh I completely agree it is not hard, but a corporate company as big as bungee, I would assume would not pay for that during the constraints they have with the contract with activision, but yeah even with one on development workin the random rolls it would still be completed in a fashionable amount of time.

  • The problem is I don't think they will go back and switch to random rolls. LS seems to have his mind set on keeping set rolls for 'balance and fun's. Now if they'd change the crappy mod system so you could add perks to the guns, I think that would add to the game. Because at least we could set the perk roll on the gun. Make those mods be the thing to grind for if not the gun. I'd love to be able to add a second perk for stability or whatever on the gun I like atnleast

  • Would be nice to add more mods. We could have things like more ammo for kinetic, energy or power weapons, orb of light creations on headshots for whatever enemy, more super energy on enemy kills, damage reduction from x energy type and increased reload speed for x weapon type. Basically stuff that was in D1 that for some reason didn’t make it into this game!

  • Exactly. Things like perks or what you suggested would give us something to want to go after. Blue mods are pretty useless right now. But Bungie's not listening.

  • I agree with adding more function to mods and having them add atleast 1 extra mod slot to each gun. I personally like static rolls because I don't enjoy finally getting a gun just to get the garbage version. I wouldn't mind getting a new gun that could potentially have a really good mod on it though. That way if it's a good mod cool! If it's not then the gun isn't trash and I can add the mod later when I get it.

  • Well I haven't even seen shotpackage in D2, so I don't see the issue and I want RF on my PR or headseeker. Besides, it's not like weapons have thus amazing ttk in pve. Do you have a better idea? If so let's hear it.

  • I was making a joke about shotguns from D1, not throwing shade at you. I know damn well if I had the option I’d put those two perks on a shotgun.

  • Or just adding some conditions to the RNG- it looks at your inventory and vault, and if an item is there, you have LESS of a chance to roll it. I've gotten six exotic engrams, in a row, to be boots. It's ridiculous and makes me want to stop playing.
